How many cops can Nicola Walker play? I was disappointed with this one. Lot of talking to camera and trying to make it intellectual by bringing in Captain Ahab and Moby Dick. It was disappointing to say the least. Jamie Sives as the sidekick who should have got the job was the best thing in it.
Just wondering, could a copper really take their daughter to school in a police launch? Because I don't think they can give lifts in official police cars!!

I know what you mean Glorianny. I was surprised but glad that the story was complete in one episode rather than having to remember all the various threads in a series. It was a bit odd all round. Unclear as to setting too.

It was a bit like Shetland.

Charleygirl5 Sun 21-May-23 10:31:11

I found it totally by accident. I think it may have been filmed in Glasgow but I am not 100% certain.

I also was pleased it was not a 6 parter. Is it on again next week?

I suppose it was watchable but there were a few holes in it.

There is worse like tonight's Malpractice!

I watched and didn’t care for it much.

I have recorded the series. TV does tend to give too much time to people they consider “flavour of the year” and Nicola Walker is one of them.

She always plays someone with a disinterested face and then she appeared to get some new teeth or veneers and she moved her mouth differently which I found very distracting.

rafichagran Sun 21-May-23 10:49:12

Gave up watching it. It was disappointing.

Glorianny Sun 21-May-23 11:03:37

It was the first of 6.
I gave up on Malpractice.
I agree about it being all one complete episode
I think it is set in Glasgow, but she seems to have a house somewhere on the riverside in the country.

It's set in Glasgow. She's come from the Oslo marine force ( says the woman who heard the early stories on podcast)

Yes, I noticed that and it was a bit weird, especially her smiles which looked to me rather creepy.

Glorianny Sun 21-May-23 11:28:49

Thanks Clg I thought I heard something about Oslo but it wasn't clear. So it is adapted from books.

Aveline Sun 21-May-23 11:50:55

I recognised Glasgow but at the end they were drinking in a hotel in Glencoe. Maybe it's just a sort of generic 'Scotland'. I didn't think it worked.

I didnt enjoy this at all. I doubtthat i will watch another.

Callistemon21 Sun 21-May-23 19:44:18

I was puzzled by the police station with a full glass frontage and everyone on show while they were having a briefing.
Really?

Relieved that it was a whole story wrapped up in one episode.

Ailidh Sun 21-May-23 19:46:57

I tried but I don't like breaking the fourth wall.

merlotgran Sun 21-May-23 20:04:19

I nearly gave it a miss because I thought it was Anneka Rice doing something in a helicopter.

I also nearly gave it a miss because it turned out to be Nicola Walker with her stuttering delivery playing another detective.

I stuck with it because there was nothing else on.

It was set mainly in Gourock and port Glasgow the house she lived in was in Cove I believe so she like most folk would use the ferry but having a police boat would be a bonus. There was filming at Lomond Shores and helensburgh too,the new series has just been filmed .
I liked it ,it was quirky and I liked the characters looking forward to the next series .I really like her as an actress,in the last tango in Halifax and in the one where she was a lawyer in a family of lawyers ,cant remember the name but it ran to 3 or 4 series.
Still it would be a strange world if we all liked the same things though I am surprised so many on here dont like her

I have watched a couple of episodes and like it. I liked Malpractice too. Both a bit different from the norm but neither excellent.

Callistemon21 Sun 21-May-23 20:42:17

Yes, I do too and wasn't she in Spooks too?

I'll take more notice of the locations now, paddyann, my friend was from there.

I think I've just reached saturation point with her TV detective roles. Loved her in River and in Unforgotten, but just couldn't take to her in this.

Same here and I loved Unforgotten but I think that was mainly down to Sanjeev Bhaskar.

tanith Sun 21-May-23 21:03:25

I enjoyed it a bit quirky and different.

Callistemon21 Sun 21-May-23 22:26:26

I find a lot of TV drama unbelievable these days, though, it's as if they're trying to find something a bit different from same old police dramas, family dramas and a lot aren't hitting the mark or are hitting the mark with a sledgehammer instead of an arrow.

I must stop pointing out all the faults, it annoys DH!

I gave up halfway through episode two. A waste of Nicola Walker’s talents and I hate all the talking to the camera.

Hasn’t it been on before? I watched the series sometime ago. Is this one a new series.
