How many cops can Nicola Walker play? I was disappointed with this one. Lot of talking to camera and trying to make it intellectual by bringing in Captain Ahab and Moby Dick. It was disappointing to say the least. Jamie Sives as the sidekick who should have got the job was the best thing in it.
Just wondering, could a copper really take their daughter to school in a police launch? Because I don't think they can give lifts in official police cars!!

I have given up with it after one episode.
I don't like the talking to camera, plus in my view Nicola Walker plays every part the same, and uses the same stuttering delivery.

Hasn’t it been on before? I watched the series sometime ago. Is this one a new series.

I think it was on Alibi before?

Saw the title and (wrongly) assumed it was going to be that blonde woman in a jumpsuit running around and jumping in and out of helicopters confused

I love Nicola Walker, so will carry on watching, but it wasn't really gripping.

If you want gritty .gripping police drama watch CRIME Written by Irvine Walsh and starring Dougray Scott its a hard watch but excellent

So fed up with cops and robbers. Watching Magpies only because it is a change.

Lovetopaint037 Tue 23-May-23 09:39:08

Meant to say I am watching Maryland not Magpies.

Am watching this on iplayer. Was underwhelmed by first episode but at a loose end whilst waiting for the gas engineer I gave it another go and surprisingly find its growing on me. NW does have some irritating mannerisms but on the whole it is a soothing gentle watch. And ‘Michael’ has me drooling.

I m with you completely Clawdy I love Nicola Walker in nearly everything I don’t find her face or delivery any different !!!
Finding this a bit heavy going perhaps it’s the Scottish accents I m watching it on the iPad and don’t think it has subs (must look harder) I often take a couple of episodes to get names and people in place will have to do better this time
(I enjoyed malpractice by the way)

Watching the second episode I fell asleep not sure if I’ll bother rewatching it to be honest.

Agree with Sparklefizz. We gave up after the first episodes . Why do all these police people have difficult children?. Same old.

Love Nicola Walker. And loved the radio series with her in this role. But am a little disappointed with the TV production. Why have they moved her to Glasgow? The character is Norwegian and part of a police special boat service.

GrannyRose15 Sun 28-May-23 18:39:39

Malpractice was a little weird and frustrating but I do think it was worth getting to the end.

I m now on episode 2 and struggling why is it so dark all the time I mean the lighting not the story It’s really not gripping me and I always love Nicola Walker and her dramas 😥

I have just watched the whole series back to back over two sessions and loved it!
Loved the scenery, some gorgeous houses, the quirky central character and a cunning twist at the end of episode 6 - but no spoilers.
Slightly bored by the fact that everybody seems to be a lesbian these days but maybe they are and I have just led a sheltered life.hmm

Foxygloves Sun 28-May-23 19:26:44

PS it’s Jake the therapist who makes for pleasant watching for me, but Michael is also worth watching in a craggy way.

Disappointing first episode and some poor acting from the entire cast. However for those interested in where the episode was filmed:
The Marine Homicide Headquarters with the full glass windows is the Beacon Arts Centre in Greenock.
The yacht marina is the Largs Yacht Haven and several scenes were filmed in the Victoria Halls in Helensburgh.

Annika’s house is situated on the banks of Loch Lomond.

Well i gave it another go and ive changed my mind a bit. Def not the best programme but will continue to watch it.

Charleygirl5 Mon 29-May-23 08:50:03

I fell asleep so I doubt if I will bother this weekend.

Nandalot Mon 29-May-23 09:26:49

This was a radio series first (Nicola Walker was also Annika in that) which I listened to. Enjoyed the first episode.
