Absolutely agree BlueBelle I'm definitely on team Evelyn.
Robert Kenyon, Reform's candidate for Makerfield. Would you let him in your house?
Roll up, roll up!
The old one is full, so post your Corrie thoughts and observations here.
Absolutely agree BlueBelle I'm definitely on team Evelyn.
Yes, I am team Evelyn too. Excellent explanation of her take on life BlueBelle.
I see from the spoilers Roy is going to offer his room to her but I will wait and see how accurate that report is.
Why are David and Maria back in Audrey's old salon. What happened to the fancy barber's?
Oooooo so Roy has in fact offered the room to Elelyn.....the report is correct 👍.... absolutely love Evelyn... the scene in the cafe with Roy, Evelyn, Tyrone and Cassie was brilliant but the offer of Evelyn's flat to whats her face!!!! Was a bit far fetched ... and then whats-her-face (( poor lass.... can't remember her name ) just so happens to be living next door to Max g/f ?!?!?!?!?!?! Ohh well, i still love Corrie...
I’m another Evelyn fan. She alone makes it worth watching Corrie. Mind you, I’ve always enjoyed everything I’ve seen Maureen Lipman do, including those fantastic adverts, ‘he’s got an ology.’ Just love it.
What a little brat Eliza is. Horrible to her lovely grandad and Yasmeen. Poor Stu.

Lauren (Max's ex) smashed it up.
We knew Roy and Evelyn would end up an (odd) couple. I see the hospital set getting its weekly outing. Why does every child actor in Corrie end up in some horrible situation?
I don’t think Eliza’s a brat at all Maddy that’s exactly how a little (what is she) 10 year old, would behave. She’s not knowingly being nasty to Stu (lovely Stu) she’s had a younger happy go lucky Dad suddenly in her life, spoiling her and of course it’s all new and lovely and she wants to be with him Lost her Mum and now she feels her only link to her family (who has suddenly appeared) is going to be taken away from her so of course she’s going to try and hang on to him and turn against anyone who is opposing her
A good story line
So much better without nasty Stephen in it last night
Doodledog I know Lauren smashed Audrey's salon up. I was wondering why it had suddenly re opened. Has the trendy barbers, 'Trim up North', that they all used to work in closed? That's never been mentioned.
Predictable that Lauren would end up living next to Sabrina (?). And her own flat - let's hope she lives up to Roy's expectations and it doesn't descend into a cat fight between her and Max's girlfriend. At least Evelyn is ' back on the street' so to speak.
So convenient that Lauren landed a second job working in a call centre on the same day a flat landed in her lap. She didn’t bat an eyelid at the £700 a month rent. I’m finding the Max/Lauren/Sabrina storyline boring and irritating in equal measure.
I think Roy is contributing to her rent.
I agree that the storyline is tedious - I like it when they have storylines including all generations, but they often get the young adult ones wrong. I don't know why, as that age group has such a lot of exciting things happening that it should be easy to come up with interesting stories, but they never seem to ring true.
Haha BlueBelle I knew as I wrote it someone would pick me up for that comment. But it’s just a programme, no need to be taken seriously. But if we are taking it seriously, there are many children who would cling hard to Grandad because he’s the only security in her young life after losing her mum. A stranger waltzing up would be the last person many children, with so much damaging things going on in their young lives, would want to go and live with. None of my grandchildren would be happy to ditch beloved and well known grandparents in favour of an unreliable stranger. Ah well, as I said, it’s not real. No need to take it seriously
Agree it’s better without Stephen though. He’s a terrible actor. We know it’s not real, but he reinforces that every time he speaks.
Stephen's hammy stammering - 'but but but I, I, I' is as annoying as Dev's daft way of talking. I wish they'd write him out soon.
Eliza is probably reacting as a child would do when faced with her useless dad. Stu is undoubtedly the better option when it comes to a carer, but he is much older (and comes with Yasmeen) and she may see him as responsible for her mum's imprisonment. 'Dad's act will be plausible to her young mind, and Stu is too decent to expose him for what he is.
comes with Yasmeen
But Stu wasn't her beloved grandad when she was younger, he is almost as much a stranger to her as her Dad. He shouldn't be criticising her father to Eliza, it is very wrong to do that.
I don't understand this liking for Evelyn, I think she is horrible. Imagine saying to a grandson that he is dense enough to be a bag of grain! She is nasty to everyone and even tried to squeeze 50 quid out of a young teenager by lying about the rent on the flat.
(not that I am over invested or anything! )
Does anyone else have difficulty in understanding what Dev is saying? I’m not sure if it it’s a deterioration in my hearing or his speech. A couple of times last night I hadn’t a clue what he’d just said. I rewound the tv and tried again but still didn’t get it.
No, I struggle with Dev too (sorry, Aveline
). It's the speeding up and slowing down, plus all the emphasis on the wrong words. I've never known anyone talk like that in real life.
Glad it’s not just me. I’ll hold off on the hearing test another while ! I suppose I could try subtitles but I’m not keen on them.
I find Dev's speech pattern irritating and difficult to understand as well. He sounds ridiculous.
I can understand Eliza feeling stifled by her over protective grandad, Stu doesn't know when to stop fussing over her. It's a difficult situation for them both, I find it an interesting story line.
He doesn’t even talk sense Dev I mean
There’s some weird storylines around that bloke him and Bernie and Adi and her ‘with the face’ who probably went to the same dentist as Cassie really unrealistic
Why do we watch ?
'Her with the face' is grotesque. Apart from all the fillers and pouting and hair extensions she's always all shiny! Poor Adhi!
Indeed, ‘her with the face’ is very uncomfortable to watch and to listen to. Along with Dev, Steven and now Yasmeen who has also begun to irritate. I also think that Steve is beginning to over act his comedy lines. Shame really, his timing used to be spot on.
I’d love to see more of Didi, she’s a lovely happy character and has a pleasant voice.
Evelyn was a great character, down to earth, outspoken, sharp and funny, think Ena Sharples or Blanche, every soap needs one. Lately she is sounding nasty, I hope the script writers are not going to make her the baddie to accommodate acceptance of Cassie. They’d be daft to lose Maureen Lipman in favour of Claire Sweeney who seems to have been born with an unfortunate sneer.
Some of the story lines are very strange and I agree the character pairings a bit off.
Why do we watch indeed. Still it’s a bit of escapism on a winters night and far superior to Love Island, Show off your naked body or what passes for comedy these days with shouty people lacking a decent vocabulary.
Give me Corrie any time.
I also think that Steve is beginning to over act his comedy lines
Steve’s acting has been non existent for ages. He just pulls ridiculous gurning faces the whole time.
He, Dev and Stephen must all share the same acting coach, who should be sacked immediately.
