Am I being a bit slow but why is Phillip Schofield being thrown under the bus now? He came out about his sexuality , now revelations about an affair with consensual teenager that he covered up to protect identity , Maybe I'm being naïve but not sure why there has been such a big disconnect from TV at this point .

Even I can see that Boris Johnson a person not to trust at all.
Definitely the real news.

It’s a bit bloomin’ late for that!

Absolutely right, FannyCornforth

FannyCornforth Fri 02-Jun-23 11:10:26

Thanks henetha smile
I can’t believe that he’s still dominating the news.
Sunak and his bunch of corrupt incompetents must be delighted

I've just watched This Morning. They showed a clip from the interview. Alison Hammond was very upset. She said she loved him and they were a family at TM. It was sad.

It's called acting.

Smileless2012 Fri 02-Jun-23 11:15:46

I don't agree that this has anything to do with homophobia either.

What we know is he had a relationship with a much younger man he worked with. He about lied about this to his family, friends, colleagues and bosses.

We do not know is that he groomed this young man. There's no evidence that says he did and until there is, I wont accuse and condemn him of doing so.

When he said in the interview that when he looks ahead all he can see is darkness and despair, that really got to me because 10 years ago that's how I felt and if it's true, it's a really horrible and frightening place to be.

maddyone Fri 02-Jun-23 11:28:59

It’s a bit bloomin’ late for that.

I agree, and I think we should be looking more closely at Sunak’s government, which seems to me to be incompetent, as Fanny says.

FannyCornforth Fri 02-Jun-23 11:30:01

Smileless thanks

Sparklefizz, I agree, they are all acting / lying. Of course they were well aware of what was going on.
They are treating their viewers like complete idiots.
It shows exactly what they think of them.
I do feel a bit sorry for Hammond, as she will have been made to do it.
If I had anything to do with This Morning I’d have handed in my resignation pronto.
They are all going to come out of this badly

maddyone Fri 02-Jun-23 11:39:00

Good post Smileless. I have never liked PS but if it’s true that all he can see is darkness ahead, then that’s a very bad place for anyone to be in.
We do not know that he groomed anyone, and there is no suggestion that the young man was under age that I’m aware of.
I still don’t like him, but try to look at the situation without becoming hysterical.
I think it’s time for the media to drop it now, unless there’s actually something to report.

Anniebach Fri 02-Jun-23 11:49:57

Smileless yes, that dark place is terrifying.

Obviously a diversion by the right wing media from the real issues of the day. They'd rather we read about a TV personality than about corrupt politicians.

Kate1949 Fri 02-Jun-23 12:26:27

I agree maddy. He's never been my cup of tea but if that is genuinely how he is feeling, I know from experience it is truly terrifying.

Yes, and unfortunately it seems to be working a treat.

Serendipity22 Fri 02-Jun-23 12:35:47

Just read the Daily mail online .... i wholeheartedly agree with Alison Hammond He who is without sin cast the first stone.

FannyCornforth Fri 02-Jun-23 12:39:27

We are all sick to bloomin’ death of ‘reading about corrupt politicians’!
It’s been rampant since 2016!
I don’t think that there is anyone on here, right or left wing, who isn’t pulling their hair out for a General Election.

Doodledog Fri 02-Jun-23 12:44:01

henetha

Yes, particularly his wife and family.
I don't know much about PS. But am I the only one on here who feels a bit sorry for him? Am I the only one who feels that once anyone strays from being perfect then the knives are out for them big time?
It must be the case that many people in the world of tv etc have inappropriate affairs and lie about them, and in the outside world too of course.
I am truly not condoning his behaviour, but how many of us have never made mistakes in our lives? I certainly have.
I'll probably now get heaps of criticism confused

I agree, and as I keep saying, if this were an affair (as opposed to blatant exploitation) I would be the first to say that his private life is his own.

But that's not the case, which is the point, and the reason why this is all over the news.

Smileless2012 Fri 02-Jun-23 13:02:03

How do we know it's a case of "blatant exploitation"? Where is the evidence to support this?

Anniebach Fri 02-Jun-23 13:06:29

There is no evidence to support it Smileless , evidence not needed on this thread.

Shelflife Fri 02-Jun-23 13:07:30

Will someone please clarify something for me ? If PS groomed a young boy then yes indeed a dreadful crime !!!!
However, if what he says is true , ie he made a grave mistake having a relationship with a very young man , this was followed up by lying to Holly, ITV friends and family is that a sackable ' offence' surely that is his private life and his own business? He made mistakes and no doubt bitterly regrets them . I understand he is a public figure but he is also ( as we all are) entitled his privacy. People make unwise relationships that more than often destroy families, but would those people expect to loose their jobs over their mistakes?
Please correct me if I have all this wrong, I fail to understand exactly what is going on!

Anniebach Fri 02-Jun-23 13:22:30

No one lies to family and friends if they are having an affair, only Schofield

Galaxy Fri 02-Jun-23 13:23:59

If I behaved in the way he did I would be sacked. No doubt.
I would not be sacked for having an affair.

Doodledog Fri 02-Jun-23 13:24:10

Smileless2012

How do we know it's a case of "blatant exploitation"? Where is the evidence to support this?

The evidence is that PS, an older, experienced presenter with a lot of power in ITV had sex with a much younger young man, who was given numerous opportunities during the course of their 'relationship', and was dropped when he got too old the 'relationship ended.

If you wouldn't call that 'exploitation', what would you call it?

Smileless2012 Fri 02-Jun-23 13:24:35

You are not wrong Shelflife. I can see that his dishonesty would be an issue for ITV and therefore a sackable offence so it looks as if he jumped before he was pushed.

In terms of this relationship there ls no evidence of grooming and/or exploitation of a vulnerable young man.

It certainly looks that way Annie.

Smileless2012 Fri 02-Jun-23 13:28:08

There you go Doodledog. You may have crossed it out but you've posted he was dropped "when he got too old".

I wont call it exploitation or anything else because I have no evidence and neither do you of that or the suggestion/implication that PS no longer wanted a relationship with him because he wasn't young enough.

Outrageousangry.
