new stories of connecting families.
Robert Kenyon, Reform's candidate for Makerfield. Would you let him in your house?
new stories of connecting families.
Thanks. I will try to see it.
Thanks, I like this programme.
it's a born without trace one abandoned at birth
Watching at the moment and Davina delivering the news about Chris' parents. She is really annoying with the long delays in telling the poor man.
I dislike these programmes a lot. The reality is so far removed from the tv
The stories are very interesting, but Davina M is so annoying I can hardly watch her.
I’m watching it, he was found in a phone box in Kennington, Lambeth in 1966, I was born and raised in this area of London in 1963..
I can’t even look at Davina when she does those big pauses and just stares at the poor people.
I suppose it would not be good TV but you never see people admitting that their parent was not a very good person. I guess they all want to believe they were good people, fallen on bad times but even back then there were some choices.
I really admired a schoolteacher who lived in the next village to us. She had a black baby boy whose father was an American serviceman who returned to the US. Her mother supported her so she could carry on teaching and they brought the little boy up between them.
I was a “listener” as a child and I used to hear my Mum and other Mums talking about local women who had given their children away for various reasons either they didn’t want any more children, they had had an affair, they preferred their lifestyle of dancing and drinking with a stream of boyfriends rather than being a mother.

Isn’t she just? She seems to have regressed to her stint as presenter on The Million Pound Drop.
Davina is awful.
I may have missed it, but what happened to the first husband. Sometimes I feel they do not tell us the whole story and ask the right questions.
I presume the producers of the show have given davina a new remit in her section of the show. it has reduced her part actually and very annoying for us viewers.....
I have emailed [email protected] to complain about it.
you can email about any itv show putting the name of show you want to talk about in subject.
Doesn't Davina have her own experience of being in a similar position?
I have wondered if she has been taught to allow time for them to process what she has just said, and possibly start to understand what that indicates. That way there are not too many shocks an surprises.
I don’t mind Davina as a presenter The pauses have always been long and yes I m sure that’s how she’s been told to do it
It was a sad but I m sure not an unusual story, the mother, was desperate, and she obviously left him somewhere warm and where he would be found Presumably the mothers husband was dead now fishandchips (they didn’t say I don’t think), they obviously weren’t looking for him as he wasnt a blood relative
What a nice looking man the real father was for nearly 80 years old
The man had had a wonderful life and seemed a ‘well together’ person
My eldest s first boyfriend had been found on the local church steps He never wanted to know who his mother was and never wanted children himself

Absolutely. All done for dramatic effect, to make "better TV", just like some of those programmes which are competitions and in which people are eliminated. I was not impressed.
I used to watch this programme regularly, but as others have said, Davina started to really get on my nerves. All the long pauses, the eye contact, the handing over of a tissue, all just done for dramatic effect. Nicky Campbell seemed much more genuine.
Also, and I might be shot down for saying it. In the first few series, it all seemed so much more real, unmarried, naive girls back in the day who got pregnant and were forced either by family, financial pressures, what-would-the-neighbours-say, to give up their babies for adoption and always regret it. When they were reunited, both parents and children seemed so thrilled and grateful.
But after a while, it seemed some of these mums just kept getting into the same situation. Reunited families found out that they had a string of siblings from different relationships, instead of finding a missing mum, they had a host of long lost relations. Many had grown up in care.
How it all worked out I often wondered.
Unlike one mum who I remember from an early programme. She had her baby adopted, went on to have a happy marriage with a different chap, but never had another child. She always felt she didn’t deserve another child after giving one up.
Poor woman.
after applying to the show many cases are not taken up and even the ones that are, sometimes take years of investigation before any successful 'show' can be made. It was stated that it took two years of research to find the father of the man abandoned at birth..
Davina spoils the programme, the very long delays whilst staring at the people, asking mundane question, in a very slow hushed whisper makes me want to just switch off, these people have waited all their lives for answers. Is anyone going to say, no don’t think I’ll bother after all. I can’t understand why she’s on everything as she is not popular. She and Holly sick of the pair of them.
So happy that lovely man last night had had such a good life, I can’t imagine how it must feel to find you have been abandoned at birth in such a way. His birth mother was broken by it and had a dreadful life, that must have hurt him to know that his new families are wonderful and the welcome he got from everyone was great to see. They were hard times back then,
Lovely programme but ditch Davina and get someone who cares and shows more empathy for people. . I usually never watch anything she’s in neither does anyone I know.
Wish they’d get rid of Davina. She is truly awful and cringe making. He false smiles and the pathetic faces she pulls , is a real turnoff.
By all accounts Chris would have had a dreadful upbringing had his birth mother taken him back to the States to live with her husband. The half sister, Maria I think she was named, referred to her own father as a "real bastard" and her mother turn to alcohol. Such a complex and emotional story but at least Chris did had a wonderful upbringing with his adoptive family.
As for Davina, I didn't watch it to see her and I can see beyond her annoying traits - certainly doesn't spoil anything for me.
I m with you parlorgames I enjoy the story per sey, the two storytellers Davina and Nick are no big deal I concentrate on the subject I do find the long meaningful pauses too long but it doesn’t annoy me enough to put me off the programme
Didn’t Davina have a difficult upbringing I know Nick is adopted
Nicky was adopted and traced his own birth parents and associated story which he wrote about in his autobiography.
It's his career now and is Davina's as well.
All presenters have the remit to induce tears. It makes me sick!
I watched part of a programme last night about health matters and the b** presenter kept asking with deep feigned concern: "And how to you FEEL." Had to switch off!
