Just thought it might be an idea to have a thread for sharing thoughts and comments this Wimbledon fortnight for those who follow.

Thinking too of Lucca, tennis' no.1 fan.

😬😬😬

I’ve just had a break from the stress.

Come on Alcaraz, ignore Djokovic’s behaviour, poor sportsmanship.

ā€œDjokovic is playing gamesā€ - hmm- isn’t tennis a game now? All the players seem to have little quirks. Alcaraz groans and moans get on my nerves. But I’m enjoying the match so far . Second set is proving a good one so many great rallies.I don’t mind who wins as long as it’s a good game.

Andrew Castle commentating compounding my discomfort

"Every point matters to this man"

I wonder why

Haha! I don't think Alacaraz needs any encouragement! He's just fine.

Andrew really is full of amazing comments.

I can’t understand a tennis fan not watching a match because it’s ā€œ too stressfulā€. anyone remember John MacEnroe’s outbursts? Everyone loved him yet he was the epitome of poor behaviour.

Ball bouncing, grunting and groaning, not enjoyable!

vegansrock Sun 16-Jul-23 15:35:01

Anyone who thinks Djokovic isn’t a good player must have blinkers on.

I'm guessing they don't know much about tennis.

I’m not stressed from watching Djokovic’s behaviouršŸ˜„ - I’m stressed because he’s winning!!

If the Stop The Oil lot got into centre court now - blood would flow.

Had an offer to go Sales shopping this morning with DD so jumped at it even though it meant I would miss the start of the match.. Just got in and relieved to see there’s still plenty of time for excitement. Phew!

Bargains sought and bought. Happy bunny! šŸ˜€šŸ˜€

Andy Murray was disliked at the beginning of his career, Djokovic is still disliked. Everything about him personally is offensive to me BUT he’s a brilliant tennis player.

Do you know him, DamaskRose?

How can everything about him personally be offensive to you?

Check out some of his interviews on YouTube. He might surprise you!

As someone who’s played tennis to a reasonable level and has watched tennis from a young age I can’t deny Novak’s brilliance. I used to like him when he was younger but he’s changed. He’s arrogant and bad tempered. He shouts at the ball kids and even his box look scared to death of him.

Smileless2012 Sun 16-Jul-23 16:13:44

I agree he's a brilliant tennis player which is why he shouldn't need to 'play games' and take too long/as long as possible before he serves.

Up until his semi final match, I've never known him do this before.

Glad he got a time warning.

I don't think Goran IvaniÅ”ević looks scared of anyone šŸ˜‚

Haha! Me neither!

What a funny thought

Louella12 Sun 16-Jul-23 16:21:15

I think Alacaraz is arrogant as well. In fact I'd say most tennis players have a hint of arrogance. I don't think they'd get far off they weren't.

I do believe that Carlos is the new player that will be around for years. Federer, Nadal and now Nokjovic are just getting older and they will probably slip into commentary boxes soon.

As an aside, has anyone watched the John McEnroe documentary? Brilliant. I always liked him, even though my county playing parents thought him shocking!

Life did seem to be a lot more fun in tune 70s and 80s

Are you kidding me? He often looks extremely anxious. Have you never heard him literally scream at his box?

Whitewavemark2 Sun 16-Jul-23 16:25:10

Like it - ā€œ poking the bear at the other end of the courtā€

It's just frustration, they're not scared of him.

Alcaraz has been showing a bit of temper tantrum too.

Annoyance with themselves.
