Totally drained, having been glued to the match for over 4 hours. Pooches have had their legs crossed throughout, and were most relieved to be let out! A fantastic match, which will go down as a classic final, I'm sure. So much drama... real edge of the seat stuff. I thought Carlos was a worthy winner, and what an incredible achievement at only 20. He can only get better from here, and apparently he's even better on clay! Right, a sandwich and a cup of tea will have to do now. What am I going to do tomorrow now it's all over?!

Felt sorry for Novak when he wept. Feel sorry for Carlos having to talk in a language he’s not that proficient in and in front of all those people.

Both these - I had a 😥 when Novak spoke about his family and wondered why the questions continued so long for Carlos.

I thought Novac spoke very well, even managed a joke, but it’s hard to say how you feel when you’ve just lost a match. 😢

I did think that if anyone could topple Djokovic it would be the young Carlos.
Some of his shots under pressure were astonishing.
So pleased with the result.
I don’t like Djokovic, I never have but I did feel for him when he got upset looking at his little son.

That’s it for another year. I always feel a bit flat when it’s finished.

I was out on the first day of a singing week and avoided people talking about the match as I did not want to know the result. I came back and stayed up till 1am to watch it! Now I have to stay awake and sing for the day!

Alcaraz is an interesting player with lots of shots in his repertoire and a nice smiley face - and a decent gentlemanly way of playing - more than can be said for ND with his "game-playing" delaying tactics. I was glad he got a time warning and amazed he did not get 10 of them.

Was shocked at how overweight a lot of the lines people were!

I agree Poppyred..I watch Roland Garros and Wimbledon with my French neighbour. French line judges are all slender and she remarked on the huge silhouettes of many of their British counterparts. It is shaming to see so many of my compatriots exposed to ridicule. Bad diets/junk food are to blame. The French love their food but eat good food in sensible quantities and build healthy regular exercise into their daily routine. This is of course a generalisation, before all the 'fattists' jump up to condemn me.

And my final gripe of this tournament....please, please BBC understand that Clare Balding is the WRONG replacement for dear Sue Barker. She clearly does her research stridently and loudly expounding the facts she has memorised, but she is just a presenter and has no qualification to be an expert on this amazing and complex sport.
By contrast, I relish the excellent, knowledgeable analysis of Annabel Croft. From her we learn something about tennis technicalities other than the obvious. She was so kind and empathetic in her post match interviews with the players. Added to that a deep long term experience of the game in which she has been professionally involved all her adult life. Surely she should have been the natural successor to 'Auntie Sue'?!!
When will the BBC ever get it right? Balding gabbled inanely over the very meaningful coin toss, even failing to comment on the arrival of the Royals and former champions, just as she gabbles on Crufts and formerly on horse racing. Switch her 'off' button and give her a rest, please!

She must still be very upset after a difficult few months.

I swapped over to Eurosport to watch as I couldn't stand another minute of Andrew Castle's commentary, he ruins it.

I thought Annabel Croft's post-match interviews were very empathetic and thoughtful.... not the usual inane questions, eg. "How do you feel?" to the loser. She would have been a great successor to Sue.

I've never liked Djokovic and his game-playing with delaying tactics was highly annoying and beneath him (some great comments online with people saying they went off to watch a box set while he was getting ready to serve).

Any man who wags a censorious finger at people (and Djokovic does this a lot) tends to be a nasty bit of work, I've found. (I was married to a finger-jabber). And that was before he smashed his racket. As Tim Henman pointed out, Djokovic wasn't concerned about the ballboy/girl and lines person close by.

So I am thrilled that Alcaraz won in an amazing final with fabulous tennis. Today feels rather flat.

I really want to watch the Boys Final on catch up, and can find every match but that one! 😖
