Just thought it might be an idea to have a thread for sharing thoughts and comments this Wimbledon fortnight for those who follow.

Thinking too of Lucca, tennis' no.1 fan.

Novak has had a very unfortunate press. The audiences just never warned to him. He always looks furious. I was never a fan.

However, I've listened to a few interviews recently and I'm warming to him. He has a deep passion for Wimbledon. Which surprises me because over the years it appeared that the crowd would always be on the side of his opponent.

Several times he's mentioned how at the age of 7 he decided he would play Wimbledon. He had been captivated watching it and he fulfilled his dream.

I did wonder if he would tell the tale at other Slams, inserting the name of Roland Garros or New York but no. His story never changes.

He loves Wimbledon and I've decided to love him back !

Can't stand Djokovic which includes watching him play.

He isn’t my favourite, but I watched him yesterday? and must say he cruised.

I don't like him either.

Just as an aside, as much as I love Roger Fed. I think that I would have been a tad annoyed if I had been his wife yesterday afternoon. She was sat at the end of the row so no one to speak to but her husband who spent what seemed an inordinate amount of time with his back to her talking to Katherine.

Seemed a bit neglectful to me. But maybe I’m wrong.

But on the other hand it is none of my business 😳☺️

I love watching Wimbledon but as a crocheter I have a simple project on the go at all times for T.V. watching so am hoping to finish off a blanket this fortnight. Tennis needs watching so I don't attempt anything that needs concentration.
I'm glad Nick K isn't playing. He could take a few lessons on manners from Rafa.

87 games today, apparently, to put the tournament back on schedule!

Djokovic playing today

After standing for the rapturous and well deserved applause, he kissed her just before they sat down.

annodomini I’m going to the ladies finals with a friend, she got the tickets in the ballot. I’ve been 4 times, 3 via the ballot. Once via my sister who is a club member and runs her local Miss Hits. It was started by Judy Murray and is an introduction to tennis group for young girls.
Look out for me- I think I will be on the back row😂 . You will all have a better view and be much more comfortable on your sofas.

I noticed that too.

I wish she would make this the last year of commentating. Her voice goes right through me.

Yes, Tracy Austin's voice really grates on me too like nails on a blackboard.

Well done Andy, but you need to get more of those first serves in ... and well done Cam Norrie.

Watched a bit of Dan Evans and then that was just too much tension and excitement for the day so I went to bed.

Didn't the torrential rain on the roof make a racket? Now such a backlog of matches to get through. Who's playing today? Anyone know?

I must admit to being quite jealous of my DS2 who, as a member of a tennis club, was able to buy tickets for Wimbledon and is taking his son who also plays tennis. I've always yearned for the chance to go, but, let's face it, I couldn't now cope with sitting for long periods and standing around in queues. Today, as the rain fell on Wimbledon and outside my window, I was pleased to be an armchair spectator. The two roofed courts are a godsend. Still hoping that there will be a new hero in the shape of that fine young Spaniard who might - just might - be a match for Djokovitch. tennis tennis

Funny that, Callistemon, my left elbow is giving me grief from prolonged cross stitching. Any knitters multitasking?

Good results from our chaps thus far, but not holding out a lot of hope for Dan Evans currently.

Left elbow, right shoulder and hand - I really am going to have to give up tennis! 🎾

Grammaretto Tue 04-Jul-23 22:52:44

I managed about 20 rows of my scarf!

Smileless2012 Tue 04-Jul-23 22:50:06

Well done Andy and most considerate to get the match finished before I had to go to choir practice.

If I've remembered this correctly, he's ranked 46th in the best players ever and is ranked 13th of those still playing.

Whitewavemark2 Tue 04-Jul-23 21:01:11

I’m beginning to get to grip with my knitting pattern but it is slow going.

Here we are in Scotland settling down to watch the first and last? of oor Andy.
I've got a cup of tea, a scone and my knitting. Watching the rain.
C'mon Andy.
It's a shame he's drawn against another Brit.

Yes, luck of the draw though!
Well done Andy and well done to Ryan too.

I think I might be getting tennis elbow but it's from too much crocheting, not tennis.
(It's not a joke!)

Nannylovesshopping Tue 04-Jul-23 20:08:48

Yay! Andy through to the next round, shame it was a Brit he beat!

Who remembers litte Tracy Austin making her debut at Wimbledon?

Has Andy got a first serve in yet?
I find it painful.
I daresay you'll get to choir practice Smileless 😉

Smileless2012 Tue 04-Jul-23 15:54:46

I'm so nervous,I don't know if I'll be able to watch.

Come On Andy and please get it done by 6.45 because I've got choir practice.
