Just thought it might be an idea to have a thread for sharing thoughts and comments this Wimbledon fortnight for those who follow.

Thinking too of Lucca, tennis' no.1 fan.

I don't like booing.

It's just not sportsmanlike.

Luckygirl3 Thu 06-Jul-23 22:26:22

I hate the Murray snarl. Puts me off the match.

Anniebach Thu 06-Jul-23 22:27:14

Think I will start watching golf

I'm anxiety eating, this is no good for a diet!!

Me too Callistemon. Feel quite sick with too much stodge and high anxiety. When he screamed out and fell I thought heโ€™d done his hip.

I must try and get to sleep now!

Louella12 Thu 06-Jul-23 22:46:02

Murray is absolutely brilliant ๐Ÿ‘

I agree, Anniebach ... golf would be much less stressful!

Yes, me too.

Is that the place where other players have slipped?

JenniferEccles Thu 06-Jul-23 22:51:02

Itโ€™s easy to see why he was once the world number one player.
What fantastic tennis that was, and more to look forward to tomorrow.
I hope he sleeps well.

What a gutsy performance from Murray. As Tsitsipas started so confidently I had the uneasy feeling that Andy was on his way out, but what a fightback, with flashes of him at his championship best. When play resumes later today, I just hope that he quickly gets into the groove, especially with that first serve.

Grammaretto Fri 07-Jul-23 07:50:37

Me too NanaDana but I gave up watching before they stopped playing.
More nerve-racking tennis today. My knitting is a mess!

We were out but turned on after lunch to watch de Minaur -v- Berretini only to find that match abandoned by the BBC just when it got to a third set to be replaced by a women's match.

Or did we somehow miss the end? Tried iPlayer too but still couldn't find set 3 of the de Minaur match.

I had to work in the garden last night and forgot about the match. Came in and felt that Murray was going to fall short in this game albeit only fractionally so I struggled to watch it. Then had to have a bath and found afterwards that they were playing today. I always thought that it was those Olympic gold medals that finished Andy off physically because he puts so much into his game and wonโ€™t give up. He never makes it easy for himself. Ot those of us watching him and willing him to win, But itโ€™s so great watching sport like that compared to the Sampras ace scoring years.

I know - I was similarly frustrated - BBC coverage is really lacking this year.
Can I just add I am so sick of Andrew Castle's awful commentary

Grammaretto Fri 07-Jul-23 15:46:44

The Murray game hasn't started again yet. It'll be on after Alcarez

Anniebach Fri 07-Jul-23 15:50:10

Djokovic later this evening

Smileless2012 Fri 07-Jul-23 16:10:22

One I wont be watching Annie but all ready for Andy this afternoon and not long to wait now.

Why does he keep asking the other commentators awkward questions?
Sometimes it sounds almost like bullying.

PamelaJ1 Fri 07-Jul-23 16:25:46

Are you all ready?

ixion Fri 07-Jul-23 16:27:50

Please don't let him be doing Andy's match.

So often, there's an awkward silence or response to his stupid questions. You can almost feel the disdain. Classic reply from Woodbridge (?) this afternoon- well of course. Something about 'do you think, for a singles player, it has to be all about you?'๐Ÿ™„

Louella12 Fri 07-Jul-23 17:13:14

I'm finding this match very stressful. Here's hoping Andy will manage it.

Then Djokovic I think? Fabulous

Smileless2012 Fri 07-Jul-23 17:34:25

Me too Louella how does Judy manage to watch?

merlotgran Fri 07-Jul-23 18:05:42

Mr too. Is it gin oโ€™clock yet?

Ooh yes it was five minutes ago. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Grammaretto Fri 07-Jul-23 18:08:41

I left to prune the roses. Can't bear it
He's done well has Andy but faint hope now.

merlotgran Fri 07-Jul-23 18:24:19

Hard luck, Andy. Well done, Tsitsipas.๐Ÿ‘

At least I can now say, Phwoooarrr! With a clear conscience. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Calendargirl Fri 07-Jul-23 18:28:05

Just tuned in for the News, delayed to see the end of the Murray match.

Well, Andy has lost, but why oh why do we now have to listen to Clare Balding analysing the match with McEnroe and Henman?

Move it over to BBC2 please, all this post mortem is sooo boring.

No idea!
Far too much chit chat but perhaps they were filling time because the news was rescheduled to 6.30?
Oh, we've got the local news!
