Is anyone still listening or have you given up?

eGJ Mon 26-Aug-24 19:18:51

I said things wouldn’t go well if Cloive met Susan! Susan surprises one these days with her advice and today with standing up for herself. The yoga, weight loss and healthy living is weird, but her still is giving George the wrong advice.

Farzanah Mon 26-Aug-24 19:22:26

Yes, you could almost be seduced by him but it’s just a distraction as on and on and on it goes, until Alice gradually reveals all in her psychotherapy sessions, painful bit by painful bit.

I heartily wish that the scriptwriters would invent a reason for Alistair to go off on a very long sabbatical.

I find him such an irritating WET!

Delila Tue 27-Aug-24 11:48:48

Oh please, no! Surely not another distraction featuring Alistair (and, inevitably, Denise)?

Are the scriptwriters actually trying to bore us into switching off? (While they ponder over which way to take the George/Clive/Alice storyline).

Laura and her 13 year old sassy Cassie daughter are back. Laura had a date with Alistair which neither enjoyed. She captains a nearby cricket team and her daughter is booked onto the Ambridge out of school club.
She was ‘difficult’ with Alistair, Harrison ‘had a word’ and she went from sassy to Good Girl. Alistair congratulated Harrison on being great with kids. Yes, Harrison said sadly but that’s not to be
I do hope Laura isn’t being used to contribute to the end of Harrison and Fallon.
I’da much prefer dithering Denise to decide to return to John and Alistair and Laura to find they could enjoy a happy, rewarding life together
I just can’t see Alistair and Denise together. Maybe it’s that I’m picturing the Denise actor as she was in the tv comedy/drama about offenders on community service

Farzanah Tue 27-Aug-24 13:42:33

It’s only pretend Iam 😀

Iam64 Tue 27-Aug-24 13:43:59

Really? Are you sure Farzanah?

Wyllow3 Tue 27-Aug-24 14:20:15

Well Cloive has bumped in to Susan and Susan won't keep her mouth shut but...I'm getting weary of this drip drip storyline unless it comes out pretty soon what George really did do.

eGJ Tue 27-Aug-24 17:40:37

Alistair and Denise are not in next week’s cast, but Lottie Summers is. Their absence at least keeps us from hearing less about that relationship!

Iam64 Tue 27-Aug-24 18:54:38

I do realise it’s a drama but Alistair and Denise - they’re just not dramatic (or believable)
At least the awful George is horribly believable, as are his totally out of their depth, well meaning yet hopeless parents.

Yes, drip, drip, drip, drip.........

Are they going to stretch this Georgie and Uncle Cloive fiasco all the way to Christmas?

Iam64 Tue 27-Aug-24 19:07:40

One if the positives of T A is their story lines tend to be Real Times

eGJ Tue 27-Aug-24 19:16:45

Looks like it mai13!

NotSpaghetti Tue 27-Aug-24 19:46:34

So the trial, Iam will be sometime in 2027 then???
... please no! 🙏

Iam64 Tue 27-Aug-24 20:41:01

Yes possibly notspaghetti but it could be later still

NotSpaghetti Tue 27-Aug-24 20:55:01

I didn't hear what happened to the car.
Obviously no SoC team came out.

Iam64 Tue 27-Aug-24 21:08:18

Ah, you’d need to find the relevant episodes on bbc iplayer.

Elrel Tue 27-Aug-24 21:08:32

Farzanah - I seem to recall an attractive Indian teacher who played cricket, I think Alice had hopes of him, or was it Kate? Quite a few years ago.

NotSpaghetti Tue 27-Aug-24 21:13:41

That was Ifti

He had a brief relationship with Elizabeth.

No I mean all the fuss about the cider bottle.

Where is the car now?
Surely the police won't still have it?
Did they ever?

Iam64 Tue 27-Aug-24 21:33:51

Ok my memory isn’t as it was fifty years ago but - George bought cider from Joy on the village shop. He went to a party, drank one bottle , so he says. Party boring, George carries the cider as he’s walking home. He takes it with him when he gets into Alice’s car.
By the time police ambulance arrive, George has heroically rescued Joy and Fallon. He has also dragged Alice into the driving seat of her car.
He tells everyone including the police that he was walking home from the party and just happened to be on the bridge when the accident happened.
The cider would still be in the car along with the empty vodka bottle
No SoC, no measuring skid marks or investigation. Alice bang to rights, drunk in the drivers seat of her car.
So - some Archer listeners are shouting at their radio - what about the cider
What about it Borsetshire bobbies might ask except as we know, they’ll have one officer covering a big area. Nothing to see here, move along

I confess I hope Alice gets a community order for being drunk in charge of a car and I hope some laws can be found to have been broken by George and he gets convicted of something
I’m off to ponder what offences

Iam64 Tue 27-Aug-24 21:35:12

Sorry NotSpaghetti - would the car ever have been in police possession in the circs. Is it simply an insurance job
So many questions

Wyllow3 Wed 28-Aug-24 00:52:20

George

Drove without insurance

Perverting the course of justice.

(quoting) "The most common offences charged as perverting the course of justice are; interfering with witnesses, concealing evidence and making false allegations of a crime

sentence for that " it is unusual for the court to impose a penalty other than a prison sentence."

NotSpaghetti Wed 28-Aug-24 07:55:24

That's what I thought Iam. I don't think anyone was ever interested in the vehicle and contents - except Chris of course.

Iam64 Wed 28-Aug-24 08:23:07

Wyllow3 - agree and believe if George had fessed up on the bridge, dripping wet after heroics, he is unlikely to have been imprisoned. It’s bound to all be out in the open before too much longer and a more critical view taken. Prison? Following in uncle Clive’s footsteps
