Well, I expected better from the BBC.
How bad can the acting be?
Did anyone else waste an hour, hoping it could improve?

I thought it was going to be scary but when they started the Freddy Mercury impression I just had to laugh. I have heard it gets better.

Well think you have all said it.. What on earth?
These are all brilliant Actors so there must be a reason why they agreed to do it.
At times we were completely confused, had no idea what was going on.
Obviously they weren't Police, complete with the side order of the missing Brother. What happened to the daughter in the past? Why them? Crikey what a muddle?

Not sure about tonights episode, do I watch or not?

It was a mix of dire and farce..the music was simply dreadful and unremitting.. not for me

Callistemon21 Tue 01-Aug-23 10:50:11

henetha

It made me feel uncomfortable, so I switched over to Chris Packham instead.

Thank goodness we've been watching Chris Packham!

A must-see and to be recommended. 🌏

Ps the advert for Wolf was enough t put us off.

icanhandthemback Tue 01-Aug-23 10:54:51

I loved it! We binged watched the first 4 episodes and reluctantly went to bed without watching the last 2.
Not for the first time, I find myself out of step with the majority. grin

Callistemon21 Tue 01-Aug-23 10:58:41

I shouldn't comment, we didn't watch it 😀

foxie48 Tue 01-Aug-23 11:08:15

OH read the reviews and said it gets a lot better, not watched the first part yet but will give it a go.

maddyone Tue 01-Aug-23 11:10:29

I’m not watching it again tonight. I’d rather watch paint dry.

Lovetopaint037 Tue 01-Aug-23 11:11:11

After the recent “Sixth Commandment” this was a step back into time. Unbelievable rubbish. Thought it was a cross between trying to be Agatha Christie crossed with Stephen King ( apologies to fans of both). Cannot believe those poor actors survived the making of it without throwing in the towel.

This series is based on books by Mo Hayder which were all very dark.
I enjoyed the books when I read them many years ago.
The series is meant to be dark and quirky.
We will continue watching on I Player.
I know I am in the minority here !!!

dogsmother Tue 01-Aug-23 11:26:48

I really enjoyed it and was really tempted to binge a bit further…..to be honest it made me laugh not sure that was supposed to happen but I’m so looking forward to the next episode!

sodapop Tue 01-Aug-23 13:10:32

Those two 'policemen' were like a comedy duo weren't they. Not sure if I will watch the rest.

you and me both. I was beginning to think I had watched something different from everybody else. Not bingewatched it, too exhausted after the first episode!

Ah, so we were meant to know that they weren’t real police 🤔
If they were all so brilliant why didn’t we recognise most of them, because they’re not.

dogsmother Tue 01-Aug-23 16:23:26

Yes HPQ……exhausting 😁

Callistemon21 Tue 01-Aug-23 16:40:47

Was it like a Carry On film?

Because the trailer looked like one.

Farzanah Tue 01-Aug-23 17:23:38

Yes it is Callistemon spot on.

Tenko Tue 01-Aug-23 17:25:51

I didn’t mind it and will watch the others . The reviews in the times says to stick with it .

icanhandthemback Tue 01-Aug-23 17:29:28

I think a lot of people are missing the dark humour and watching on makes it all become clearer. I was a bit startled to begin with but now think that it has been acted beautifully. It is very stylised and I was reminded of The Clockwork Orange.

Greenfinch Tue 01-Aug-23 17:29:29

I will try but only with half an eye I think.

Rosalyn69 Tue 01-Aug-23 17:44:07

I thought it was great. Will watch more tonight. I have read the book so know the story.

Farzanah Tue 01-Aug-23 17:45:49

Ah ha. I’m a bit slow on the uptake.
Now I know it’s a darkly gruesome, horror, black comedy, I think I will stay with it. It’s certainly a bit different and not what I was expecting

Spot on! I was trying to think what I was reminded off. Its the startling violence, the off the wall behaviour, the unpredictability of the two. It certainly is weird, disturbing but to my mind, certainly worth watching

maddyone Tue 01-Aug-23 23:25:48

I wasn’t intending to watch it but at a few minutes past nine my grandchildren in New Zealand rang as they were on their way to school in the car. We had a lovely chat and then when they were in school, my daughter rang and talked to us as she drove to work, hands free of course.
A much more profitable way to spend three quarters of an hour.
