Only another month to go so I thought we'd better get the new thread up and running smile

I don't know many of this year's contestants so far but I guess we'll get to know them as the show continues. I see there are already comments that some of them have previous dance training.

I loved watching Strictly, both on Saturday & Sunday evenings. We were away at our little home-from-home, lucky to have a TV! but no internet so I couldn't join the conversation with you, Sparklefizz & your fellow Strictly followers!!
Interesting that the bottom 2 were the same as in the judges list, often low listing favourites get voted in by the public votes. I have a soft spot for my local(ish) Jody Cundy, he survived...just!

Roll on next week.

OK, I am ageist! My comment on an upper age limit was tongue in cheek, I know that's not going to happen. But I do wish that those of more mature years would avoid disporting themselves on the telly in the mistaken belief that being able to do the steps makes them a dancer worth watching. It doesn't. I am rather ancient myself, but as an ex dancer, I can't help but find oldies dancing just plain embarrassing. Sorry!

What a silly ageist post.

I know that, in the past, some Strictly contestants have had some dance experience and many, who have had dance classes at stage school. However, Layton Williams doesn't just have some experience. He really is a professional dancer who appeared as a dancer in Stephen Bourne's production, The Car Man and has had dancing parts in other theatrical productions. His performance with Nikita just screamed 'professional'. Of course it was 'the dance of the night'.

It is, isn't it, rafichagran!

Motto for skate - "if you find yourself in a hole, stop digging."

Shirley annoying as usual, standing up and demonstrating moves.

Sparklefizz Fri 06-Oct-23 06:43:46

Jody Cundy may not be able to take part tomorrow. I have just read online that he had to rush to hospital with a swollen infected leg and hasn't been able to put on his prosthetic to do any training. Poor Jody.

gillgran Fri 06-Oct-23 11:47:39

Oh no! I hadn't heard that, Sparklefizz, I hope Jody recovers well, he was in the "danger-zone" last week, (as I may have mentioned,! I have a soft spot for him!).
I'm away again this weekend, so, although I'll be watching, I don't have internet access to comment.
I'll be thinking of you, & be with you all in spirit!
"See" you Monday.

Hi everyone
Beautiful opening sequence by the pros.

Sweetpeasue Sat 07-Oct-23 18:30:00

Loved itSparklefizz So elegant.

Grannynannywanny Sat 07-Oct-23 19:59:47

I’m running late this evening and watching on catch up. I agree the opening dance was lovely. I wish I had Angela’s energy and flexibility!

Lovely to see Amy. I sincerely hope her treatment goes well and she’ll soon be back on the dance floor.

Joseann Sat 07-Oct-23 20:03:08

I think so far, (catching up), the girl who was in the bottom two last week looks to me to be in danger. Her dance was very stiff.

Callistemon21 Sat 07-Oct-23 20:04:06

I missed a couple of dances (cooking)

I'm enjoying it but still have no clue who most of the contestants are!

Calendargirl Sat 07-Oct-23 20:05:54

Oh oh, Shirley’s had her 10 paddle out already.

Honestly?

😂

Callistemon21 Sat 07-Oct-23 20:09:07

Oh, that was so lovely Annabelle!

Calendargirl Sat 07-Oct-23 20:25:24

Tonight’s show has seemed very looong.

I prefer it when the first half dozen have been eliminated.

rafichagran Sat 07-Oct-23 20:33:16

Angela and Carlos were amazing. I also enjoyed Eddie and Karen and Krishnan and Lauren.

Sara1954 Sat 07-Oct-23 20:33:54

Nothing really jumped out at me tonight, but I enjoyed it

Sara1954 Sat 07-Oct-23 20:34:26

I really love watching Lauren

Grandmadinosaur Sat 07-Oct-23 20:43:20

My favourites tonight were Annabelle,Krishnan and Angela S.
Yes it is too early for a 10 from Shirley 😕

Joseann Sat 07-Oct-23 20:49:43

Same 3 as Grandmadinosaur, though BobbyB makes me laugh.

Grandmabatty Sat 07-Oct-23 20:50:42

I liked Angela Scanlon and Ellie. Amanda Abington is good but I'm not a fan of the rumba. I feel sorry for Jody but I can't warm to him nor Annabel. Some of the choices of music seriously limited the dancing

Millie22 Sat 07-Oct-23 21:05:35

I loved Ellie and Vito. That was my favourite dance.

Far too early for a 10 from Shirley more like an 8.

Bridie22 Sat 07-Oct-23 21:16:04

Angela and Bobby for me tonight, I sometimes wonder if I'm watching the same performances as the judges, our scores vary so much!

Sweetpeasue Sat 07-Oct-23 21:23:59

Grandmabatty I feel the same about the rhumba. To me it seems a collection of repetitive swaying moves and a wee bit toe curling. I love Ellie and Amanda is good. Angela S was v good too.
