Only another month to go so I thought we'd better get the new thread up and running smile

I don't know many of this year's contestants so far but I guess we'll get to know them as the show continues. I see there are already comments that some of them have previous dance training.

Angela's still got fantastic legs!!

Calendargirl Sat 16-Sept-23 19:23:57

Would be a huge shock if one of the celebrities said “Oh no! I was really hoping to get so-and-so! I’m sooo disappointed!”

Sparklefizz Sat 16-Sept-23 19:26:40

When Claudia asks "How happy are you ...?" I want the person to reply "Not very!!"

Sparklefizz Sat 16-Sept-23 20:18:10

Oh Les. What can I say?

I got bored and ended up surfing the web !

I missed half of it, love the pairing if Kai and Angela R. Glad the new girl Lauren has a partner.

Sara1954 Sat 16-Sept-23 20:32:02

I enjoyed it, I think it will be fun.
Hardly heard of anyone, but will soon get to know them, they all seemed nice people.

giovanni with amanda abbington. I will be watching out for

We recorded it so we could whizz through.
Honestly, from the group dance I think that Layton will walk (dance) it. He has been in the West End, so clearly has an advantage, but he just has 'it '

Oh dear, now I might have to choose between Strictly and the Rugby World Cup, sad

Rugby won here ;)

Totally agree 👍

Sometimes having an advantage works the opposite way. Remember Alexandra Burke and Ashley Roberts - great dancers but obviously didn’t get the votes.

But last year who would have guessed at the start that Hamza would win?

I always admire the paralympians with their tremendous work ethic and can-do attitude, plus they take constructive criticism and act upon it.

Joane123 Sat 16-Sept-23 21:32:20

Really pleased it's back. Can't wait or next week.

annodomini Sat 16-Sept-23 22:18:00

I found it tedious. The 'first meetings' with partners were so obviously contrived. It could all have been over much sooner. I have to admit that I abandoned it before the end and watched the rugby which was slightly more entertaining.
And the next time I hear that clicbé 'I can't wait', I may have to throw the TV out of the window.

Tonight was the start of what will be a great series I hope. It's off to a good start. Some real characters among the celebs. Music, dancing, beautiful clothes, what's not to like!

Ailidh Sun 17-Sept-23 06:04:42

I never like the intro programme but I watched it anyway. Hey, it's been a rough week.

Looking forward to Giovanni + Whomever (she was not one of the 5 celebs I know) and to Angela Rippon, for nostalgia's sake.

Some of the young celebs seemed awfully "OO, look at me, I'm such a card!" but they may well grow on me.

It was great to see Hamza again.

DanniRae Sun 17-Sept-23 07:04:03

Loved it ...... was watching with my daughter and we actually stopped chatting whilst it was on, except to comment on what was happening on the screen! That doesn't happen very often!
grin

Calendargirl Sun 17-Sept-23 07:17:50

I found it tedious

So did I. Watched the first 40 minutes or so, enjoyed the dances but dislike the endless chats on the sofa and repetitive comments.

Consequently don’t know who most are partnered up with, but will work it out as the contest proper begins.

Thought Craig looked to be trying too hard in his dance with the pros.

Motsi looked pretty good.

dragonfly46 Sun 17-Sept-23 07:22:28

Craig has had two hip replacements so I think it was harder for him.

Sparklefizz Sun 17-Sept-23 07:26:13

I had forgotten Craig's hip replacements. No wonder he wasn't at his best. The other 3 were very good, I thought.

Although Les seemed the weakest dancer in the group dance at the end, my daughter reckons he will be kept in for comedy and entertainment value, like Tony Adams last year (or was it the year before?)
