Do any adverts on TV annoy or irritate you? I dislike a few, but the 2 that I really can't stand are the one for McDonald's, with all those people in a traffic jam raising their eyebrows, an the one with the woman who looks at the mobile 'phone, and keeps saying "Awww"

The life insurance ads with people excitedly saying ‘We could pay off the mortgage with that!’. Yes, but wouldn’t you rather be alive?

And the postcode lottery one with its wretched ear worm song ‘Someone’s knocking the door, someone’s ringing the bell’. Aaarrrggghhh!

Have to agree with Calendargirl the one with the donkey and mouthwash also the one with the donkey and Pot Noodles. Those lovely animals deserve better smile
The funeral plan and parsnips makes me want to insert said parsnips.

Love the Virgin Atlantic I am what I am advert, I never get tired of it. I do hate the life insurance ads, they are always aged 32 and non-smokers, as if!!

My bulky pee pants !! Two women at the gym discussing incontinence pads aaarggghh, Just awful

Sassanach512 Sun 27-Aug-23 17:11:57

Me too Lilypops who on earth would just pee in her pants all day? if it's that bad she should see her doctor asap hmm
I also can't stand to listen to that woman telling us to register for the million pound house draw, the way she drops her voice at the end of every sentence grates on my nerves

“I didn’t know you had dandruff!”
“I don’t.”

I wouldn’t care if he did!

Greenfinch Sun 27-Aug-23 18:15:30

I absolutely agree aquagran. It was on last night and I said to DH that must be the most annoying advert ever. It’s the dancing at the end that gets to me.

Fflaurie Sun 27-Aug-23 18:17:00

I cannot bear the announcers who tell us that the

Sport is lav nah

sick of bad speech, bad pronunciation and bad grammar where ever we are.

I have been watching the programmes about the supermarkets in the 70’s and the adverts were just as silly then . There was one with a silly woman dancing and singing

“Shake’n Vac and put the freshness back “.

.

Most do as any appealing to my generation are for equity release or funeral planning. So many are about technology and I don't find any memorable like I used to years ago.

As stated in the programme that was one of the greatest ads of all time! We all loved the Shake'n Vac advert. 😍

Well I certainly didn’t. I think most adverts are an insult to the intelligence.

Cabbie21 Mon 28-Aug-23 08:15:37

The fact that we remember these awful ads is significant. It won’t mean we buy the product though. We are more likely to boycott it!

ParlorGames Mon 28-Aug-23 08:18:57

I agree with all of the above. However, the most ridiculous advert award must surely go to the hang-gliding goat advert!

welshchrissy Mon 28-Aug-23 08:58:12

The one that really makes me feel like screaming is the haribo ad with 2 policeman in the car talking like children. It annoys me every time I see it

Georgesgran Mon 28-Aug-23 15:03:33

I’m scrolling through GN with the TV on and my attention has just been drawn to a chap asking viewers to support ‘The British Art Foundation’s’ lottery. How unusual, I thought, until I realised he meant The British Heart ❤️ Foundation!
It’s all in the diction?

aquagran Mon 28-Aug-23 15:38:36

Sorry Greenfinch, you misunderstood my post. I think he is gorgeous, whether he has dandruff or not…hang on
“I don’t!” 😂

DamaskRose Mon 28-Aug-23 15:50:42

The chap who “dribbles” advertising Tena for Men. I think he’s supposed to be a bit dishy in a “this can happen to anyone, even somebody like (gorgeous) me”. He gives me the creeps. Yes, I nearly did say willies! 😳

HeavenLeigh Mon 28-Aug-23 15:53:56

The body form sanitary towel showing blood!

Scribbles Mon 28-Aug-23 16:09:22

I try not to see them but especially dislike any ads involving incontinence, erectile dysfunction, denture adhesive, menstruation, funeral plans, online dating services and/or with an American voice-over.

Greenfinch Mon 28-Aug-23 16:15:49

Sorry aquagran didn’t read carefully enough. 😺. I don’t care whether he has or not because the advert annoys me.

Happygirl79 Mon 28-Aug-23 16:17:38

I totally agree there!

Happygirl79 Mon 28-Aug-23 16:19:44

That awful woman singing on the holiday ad. Is it Jet 2? Hold my hand! I have to turn the sound off until its done! Irritating as can be

62Granny Mon 28-Aug-23 16:35:54

Remembered another one the Omaze house competition, the voice over is really irritating.
