Annoying TV adverts

What adverts on tv do you find annoying? I've got a few, and they make me determined never to buy/use the thing they're advertising -

Curry's - the one in which the staff members eat the instruction manuals
Curry's again - the staff all have beards (which move and point to things)
KFC - people shaking hands over the KFC meals

The Viking cruises are my pet hate. That woman has Received Pronunciation that is so far back it’s up her bottom. Sorry- she really does annoy me

Ditto. Thankfully we don't watch much TV but that one used to come on in the middle of some series we used to watch. It's not so much the pronunciation with me as the 'oh-gosh-life-is-so-exciting-I'm-having-an-orgasm' little girlie voice.

I am sick of the sight of those 2 guys and their lottery ticket. With their bad "ageing" make up. Feels like every ad break, every programme, every day.

Having read this thread, I agree with all of you.

I hate the charity ads too. I know it sounds awful because starving children, war victims, dirty water, the homeless etc. should upset me but all these adverts do is irritate me.

The Omaze woman wanting us to register in the draw for a huge £2m house. Her voice dropping at the end of every sentence annoys me

Oh yes I hate the Tena pads ad too I mean, who's going to stand at a rock concert peeing into her pants all day?? ridiculous!

vampirequeen Wed 01-Nov-23 17:28:04

All the over 50s life insurance. Especially the creepy man spying on his neighbours from his conservatory and is simpering neighbour.

I'm starting to hate all adverts - especially the ones in the afternoon which tend to concentrate on illnesses, funerals or life assurance plans.
Notable mention must go to Sun Life Over 60s plan and the ridiculous man getting over-excited about his parsnips.
The Tena ads with the woman at the pop concert sitting on her friend's shoulders because thankfully she's no longer wearing bulky pee pants/pads.
Makes me want to scream that her other friend had already told her about Tena pads in the yoga advert. I'm more concerned about her memory than her bladder.

That particular Tena ad almost has me shouting at the tv- it's dreadful. My pet hate atm is for Pure Cremations (or similar) where mum tells son that's what she wants and that she's looked at the reviews. Who wrote the reviews - the client? grin

When the mother says (about not having a funeral) that no-one likes funerals. Didn't lockdown show that they're an important part of the grieving process, and that there's a need to get together, share, reminisce and perhaps cry?
But what's mental health compared to someone making a profit?

We have stopped having funerals in our family and nobody’s mental health is suffering. It’s a blessed relief, much better. If people want to get together they can always have a meal out for family and close friends. That’s what we did when my father died. He had left his body to medical research. We could have had it returned for a funeral but he wouldn’t have wanted that.

Sorry, a bit off-topic.

I haven’t seen the advertisement.

The ads for the electronic circulation contraptions that you put your feet in featuring Ian Botham or Amon Holmes & Ruth Langford. Not saying the product doesn’t work but the ads are so cheesy it puts me right off!!

Grandma70s it's interesting to hear that from real experience. Thanks x

This week it’s the advert with the man crying on his holiday because the airline has lost his suitcase full of baked beans and the one with the AA repairing thieves car before they pull away with a police car behind. Any advert that relates to Christmas before 1st December.

Georgesgran Wed 01-Nov-23 20:50:06

Too many to mention really. Sometimes I think I need to get out more, because I like to spot the same actors in different ads!
The lady grieving the loss of her chap, staring wistfully at his picture in her coffee mug, is now living with another chap and spreading cheese on both sides of her bagel!
Another lady who used to bemoan her loose dentures is tripping the light fantastic at a Warners hotel.

hollysteers Wed 01-Nov-23 21:52:52

Can’t remember what it’s advertising, but there is a short out of tune whistle at the end. Surely they could find someone to whistle in tune!?

BlueBelle Wed 01-Nov-23 22:21:42

No idea what any of them advertise I completely zone out when their on and take absolutely no notice of them they are all horrendous and I ve never bought anything on the strength of an advert
Dreading the Christmas ones always dislike them, anyway I’ll keep zoning out and try to take no notice of them either

Oreo Wed 01-Nov-23 22:26:17

Tenko enjoyed your ads comments, made me laugh, I should have been wearing a Tena 😂

Callistemon21 Wed 01-Nov-23 22:28:27

Hmm just watched the m & s Christmas ad and not at all sure about it. I do agree with walloping the elf on a shelf with a bat. I find the elf concept a but creepy , that something in your is always watching you . And yes I do have Alexa , so I’m probably being a bit hypocritical.

Well, it just left me bemused!

What was it advertising? M&S?
Father Christmas's Chief Elf?
No idea!

Jaye53 Wed 01-Nov-23 22:29:41

Ha ha ha. Hilarious comments on here. Rubbish adverts really rubbish.insulting to the viewer cringeworthy pathetic and sexist. I could go on.

Whethertomorrow Wed 01-Nov-23 22:29:46

Hellmans mayonnaise. The “making something out of nothing” jingle screech is my current earworm and it’s driving me nuts. Also if you have nothing how can you make something. Grrrrr.

Skydancer Wed 01-Nov-23 22:36:51

I hate the fact that virtually all families in adverts are shown as mixed-race. Whereas, in real life, a small percentage are.

Oldbat1 Wed 01-Nov-23 23:15:14

Hate ALL adverts. We mute all of them. I cant believe how much effort must go into them but a total waste in this house.

rubysong Wed 01-Nov-23 23:19:33

We always record anything we want on ITV and whizz over the adverts. They are not aimed at us as we know what we want to spend our money on without tv telling us.

I'd seen this advert a few times without paying a huge amount of attention.

I'd assumed they were brothers ... maybe even twins!

Very odd casting!
