Confession ….. I have never watched more than a few minutes of this prog but this time around I plan to because Fred Sirieix, Grace Dent and Nigel Farage are in it which should be interesting.

I knew them all apart from Nella and the man from Holly oaks.

Joseann

I knew all your list GG13.

I realised I do know him, doesn't he do a music quiz on BBC with his wife?

Yes he does.

Obviously, Kandinsky you're wrong. Lots of Grans seem to know most of the celebrities.

Callistemon21 Tue 21-Nov-23 11:08:09

I think they're celebrities, rather than stars.

Yes it’s on a Saturday evening called The Hit List.

We sometimes have it in on in the kitchen whilst preparing dinner, unfortunately DH and I can get quite competitive over any quiz 😹🙀

Blimey, there’s some well versed grans on celebrities on here, I really must try harder.

Well I have occasionally seen the Gino and Gordon Ramsey programme, although I’m not a regular viewer of it, but the other chap had completely passed me by. Noticeably neither Gino nor Gordon Ramsey have agreed to do it, and the other chap, who is on Celebrity this year, and probably not that well known, has agreed to do it.

I think it’s true that there were more well known people on Celebrity last year. But this year, nor so much.

Anniebach Tue 21-Nov-23 11:27:47

I know of one ,

Theexwife Tue 21-Nov-23 11:44:25

Every time there is a celeb reality show on someone states that they dont know anybody. Unless you watch TV 24hrs a day, listen to all the podcasts and all types of music, follow YouTubers or influencers etc one person will probably not know everyone, these programs are for a wide audience not just aimed at someone on Gransnet.

I think Gino did it about about 10 years ago and if I'm right he won. He was very cheeky.

He won in 2009

It's 'tofu munching wokerati' because they are woke

Thanks! I didn’t spot my phone was playing silly devils.

maddyone Tue 21-Nov-23 13:50:35

I mustn’t have watched it that year, but I think I would have liked Gino. I like him on the rare occasions I’ve seen him on television.

maddyone Tue 21-Nov-23 13:51:29

I watched for a couple of years and then stopped, but restarted watching again in Covid when they did it in a castle somewhere.

I note that the programme’s viewing figures are down by 2 million compared to the start in 2022. Farage does not seem to be the draw they had hoped.

Ghastly individual.

I don't think you can put the drop in figures down to Farage. They need more than one big name to draw viewers, and last year they had several big names. It was a good year. Also, the format is getting very tired, just the same old challenges and trials. It's the interaction between the camp mates which draws viewers, but they need people who have led interesting lives and can tell brilliant stories and I'm not sure many of them qualify this year.

I’d feel slightly embarrassed knowing who the 4th member of JLS is.

Why on earth would you feel embarrassed.

Knowing about popular culture is not one of the deadly sins.

Primrose53 Tue 21-Nov-23 14:52:14

I think Ant and Dec are being a bit unfair to Nigel Farage. They keep making little digs about “veering to the right”, Brexit, GB News etc but not a dig about anybody else.

I agree they are using him for sneaky little digs behind his back, and the film crew are paid extra to laugh their socks off at everything they say. Just remember he won't be shedding a tear when he sees it, he is well used to it and has a very thick skin.

Galaxy Tue 21-Nov-23 17:13:49

They do that to a lot of people though.
I knew Johnson was finished when ant and dec made a joke 'evening Prime minister....for now'. This was weeks before he went but when your political demise is referred to on a mainstream entertainment show you are finished grin

Kandinsky Tue 21-Nov-23 17:28:24

Knowing who’s in JLS comes pretty close to be fair.
( unless it’s 2008 & you’re 16 )

But I’m a musical snob.

maddyone Tue 21-Nov-23 17:28:28

If it wasn’t Farage it would be one of the others. The only trouble is none of the others have led particularly interesting lives. Last year we had Mike Tindall, Boy George, and Jill can’t remember her name, who was the captain of the women’s football team. Interesting people. And that’s precisely why they got Farage, love him or hate him, people talk about him. It’s a shame the others are a bit nondescript. But I like Nella.

Is there usually one contestant who is chosen to be the scapegoat?
Just like Strictly, none are picked at random, the choices are carefully orchestrated

You are kidding surely, just read Jamie Lynn Spears life story - she’s packed a huge amount of drama into her 32 years!
