Yes, I have often thought that Timothy could fail an exam or two. However, I suppose that he is only following in his sainted parents’ footsteps. I’m surprised that any medical specialists are needed in Poplar as Dr. Turner can diagnose each and every illness almost immediately. The other week, he even managed to diagnose porphyria, an extremely rare disease that King George III is thought to have suffered from, just by one look at a urine sample!

By 1969 the Greater London Council had replaced the LCC. Each of the London Boroughs would have a Mayor selected by local authority councillors - these were just for one year and was a sort of way of saying Thank You to a Councillor who had served for several years. These Mayors never went to the electorate for that office. And, this series is supposed to be set in Poplar, one of the East London. it would have been part of the London Borough of Tower Hamlets.- so what on earth is this silly made up story about mayor elections, they never occured.

Trixie was just on the One Show. She speaks like that in real life!

I’ve watched every series so far. I feel it’s lost its way in this series. It’s too contrived for me. Somehow, it’s lost focus and is more politically motivated.

It's been widely reported that the actor who plays Matthew is leaving, so they're clearly paving the way for his exit, one way or another. He did mention headaches, so that, coupled with the sudden personality change, could mean a lot!

I still find it easy viewing for a Sunday evening.

Well done Trixie on passing her test so quickly, then being confident enough to drive her husband’s big posh car straightaway. Mind you, confidence never seems in short supply with her.

Why on earth doesn’t Matthew just come out and say he is in financial difficulties, and simply can’t afford the flat in the Barbican, the sporty car she wants, the expensive nursery school, the posh sofa……?

I know the programme is set in Poplar / Tower Hamlets, but where is it recorded?
I think the writer & the actor/doctor live in Cambridge.
In last weeks episode they went on a day trip to the seaside on a "Dewsway" coach, (Dews buses still based nearby).

I think they have a specially reconstructed set outside London somewhere, but I know it's not at Elstree?

It always makes me smile when in Port Isaac, how many visitors do the Doc Martin walk round the village.

Matthew always looks half asleep to me. Perhaps being in New York will wake him up. Who will look after Jonty over there? Is the sacked nanny going with them?

Looks like Trixie will be on her way back to AA.

There are coach trips to the Call The Midwife area and you are guided by a “midwife”.

I wondered about little Jonty too.
I seriously think Trixie needs writing out, and that the new midwife should take her place because she acts well.

I think they had to juggle the script around when they found the actor playing Matthew wanted to leave it can’t have been the way they planned things to go. It is just like the Soaps who sometimes have to make rapid changes that don’t make sense. Hopefully Trixie will settle down a bit.

Looks like Trixie will be on her way back to AA.

I think we're going to see a storyline about her becoming addicted to the nitrazepam she's just been prescribed ☹️

I enjoyed last night’s episode - lots going on! I agree with V3ra, I think the nitrazepam is going to be a problem for Trixie soon. Is she the last of the non-religious midwives from the first series?

The turnips story made me laugh and Alison’s story brought tears to my eyes. Midwife Highland’s story is going to be interesting.

Actually, they decided to write Matthew out, Olly Rix did not want to leave.

I'd like to see Cyril get together with someone, or is he still married? He is always so kind and supportive.
