Brilliant musical, saw it ages ago with the lovely Alfie Boe. Our choir have Bring him home in our repertoire - brings a lump to my throat every time we sing it!

Absolutely not. Seen it a couple of times and would see it again at the drop of a hat.

I remember seeing Les Mis over 30 years ago, hadn’t been on the Westend very long, I came out and thought what the hell was that about!
Years later I watched the film and by then understood the story so if I saw again I am sure I would enjoy it.

Never fancied it. My DD saw it in London and found it a bit miserable 😉
I’m not that keen on a lot of modern musicals, I much prefer Rodgers & Hammerstein, although Bring him home is a knock out song.

I’m just about to add Send in the Clowns to my singing repertoire, but not sure if that counts as modern.

Ive seen it a few times in London. I went reluctantly the first time but it was simply the best thing ive seen. The music is fab.

No, I absolutely love it. Have seen it more times than I care to admit and I’m actually going to see it again in a couple of weeks!

Really don't like it - it is so downbeat.

One of my brothers, on the other hand, will go to see at every possible opportunity!

Just the thought of the song "Bring him home" makes me feel tearful.

I love this marvellous show and have seen it twice. I bought the CD and often listen to it.

Franbern Sun 07-Jan-24 19:07:20

I can remember the first time I saw it - in the West End at a matinee, At the end, I just wanted to hide under the seat, or somewhere, so I could see the next performance.

Brilliant show, brilliant music

One of my g.children embroidered a 'sampler' with LET THE PEOPLE SING....on it.

Chocolatelovinggran Sun 07-Jan-24 19:54:32

Love it : it's wonderful.

Mel1967 Sun 07-Jan-24 19:56:31

I’ve never seen it.
Should I ?

cornergran Sun 07-Jan-24 19:57:51

We’ve seen it three times in a theatre, enthralled every time. The first experience was in London where we were fortunate to join a party to go on stage and understand the mechanics of the show. We were all amazed at what could be achieved in such a small space. I often listen to the music, we watch a dvd together. Never tire of it. I’m sure we’ll see a stage performance again.

Mel1967 Sun 07-Jan-24 19:59:37

But I have chosen Bring Him Home as one of my funeral songs ⚱️

You could read the various answers on here and then decide.
I’d happily go and see it again. Others would not.

I don't think I'd ever tire of seeing Les Mis because there's so much going on. By that I mean the set, the music, the choreography, the lighting, the costumes, the whole story etc.
To be honest, I think the lyrics in Phantom are somehow more meaningful, but as a production Les Mis is the one that keeps you spellbound throughout.
