Sad news. He was only 50 and had been battling cancer for several years. Leaves a wife and young family.

That is really sad to hear what a lovely young man he was and he fought so long to live for his family.

May he rest in peace. My thoughts are with his family. If he has parents they will be deeply saddened. flowers

So very sad for his family, gone to soon.
He was one of my favourites on Escape to the country.

Sad news.
He always seemed a nice guy, and he has young children, I think.

I was so sorry to hear of his death, I watched Escape to the Country this afternoon, he was presenting a programme from 2020 I think? after he'd received the terminal diagnosis I presume, I felt very sad he didn't look well at all.

Heartbreaking for his wife and his trio of young boys, what a loss.

I watched this last night as I always tape the afternoon programme and decide later whether to watch it. Have known for some time he had a cancer diagnosis and watching yesterday you could see that he held his left hand a lot as his wedding ring was so loose on him. They did a lovely tribute to him by just showing clips of him with participants of the show and you could see how he made connections with people. He will be missed and remembered.

I watched the episode on Monday last of Jonnie Irwin which was filmed in 2022 when he was very ill. OMG - it was heart rending. He looked so frail, but still his same cheerful self. Bless him - such a lovely man. It was especially poignant when he said to the couple that he’d like to go back and visit the house they eventually chose. He must have known then that that might not happen. So very sad.
