ONE DAY on Netflix

Anyone watching One Day? I read the book by David Nicholls back in 2009 and enjoyed it so much that I deliberately avoided the film version starring Anne Hathaway trying to do a Yorkshire accent.

But ... I decided to give the new version on NF a try, and it is lovely and beautifully acted and now that I'm getting close to the end I am starting to feel bereft already.

Just a tip - have your hankie ready!

Not seen this yet, I'm thinking of a binge tomorrow.

However from what I've gleaned this storyline sounds a bit like Same Time, Next Year, which starred Alan Alda.

One of my favourite films I think.

I haven’t read the book, but loving this series.
Great soundtrack too.

It was a ‘must Watch’ on the Must Watch podcast. However, I don’t have Netflix. I also want to watch The Dig but that’s on Netflix, too. Looks like something else I need to subscribe to.

You can watch both One Day and The Dig with a free trial to Apple TV.

ToppsyIrene06 - why would you say that in your comment? You have spoilt it for people - I have deliberately not said anything about it as I don’t want to spoilt it for others.

We watched the last three episodes last night.
Best thing we’ve seen on tele for ages.
Highly recommended.

I was laid -up with bad sciatica ONE DAY last week. Flicking through Netflix I saw this and decided to watch it all in ONE DAY. Thought it was appropriate!
Hanky time ….but oh how they wasted time…then timedid waste them!🥲

Scott Mills on Must Watch said he binge watched it on a plane journey. He got quite emotional talking about it!

Yes. I don't know how familar you are with TV apps so apologies if you know this.

You sign up with a credit card. Apple will tell you when the first payment is due which will be immediately after the trial period ends. Cancel before that date and you won't be charged.

Make sure your TV or smart device is compatible. Scroll down this page.

I hadn't read the book or seen the film when I watched this so I had no idea about it. OMG totally wonderful and incredibly sad. Would thoroughly recommend!

My family are staying with us next week so they can help. I just accessed it via my iPad but really want to watch it on the tv. When my partner is at my place he often lets people stay at his house and I worry about anything being on his tv that others can access. It really annoyed me when Roma won the Oscar for best film but you had to subscribe to Netflix to watch it.

The overwhelming sense of joy to see life changing love so beautifully portrayed.
It echoed many of my own experiences as a student in the 80s such as class and dingy accommodation.
Was new to the story so the diversity of the cast didn't worry me too much. Went to watch the film as soon as I'd binged the series. Might read the book too.

I’m grateful. Can’t cope with sadness at the moment.

CoolCoco Sat 17-Feb-24 13:25:07

Yes I’ve enjoyed this. Don’t know why some people just don’t subscribe to Netflix for a month or two to watch - it’s less than the price of a cinema ticket and great value in my opinion. Apple TV has some good series on at the moment too - Slow Horses, Criminal Record, Lessons in Chemistry, Bad Sisters.

One Day, absolutely fabulous. All the actors, including the ones with small parts, are credible and brilliant. Best production I've seen for ages and absolutely puts that travesty of the book, the film with awful attempts at accents by the American lead, to shame.

Literally just finished it 10 minutes ago. The intensity between them is wonderful. So beautifully acted. Loved every bit even the slow build up. I’m left emotionally drained.

Just finished watching it - binge watched it all - so very sad - reminds me of so many things in the past! No I’m too old to rekindle the past - excellent series

I’ve just tried to reserve the audiobook from our library - it’s available in July 2026!! 😳😂

Bridie22 Sat 17-Feb-24 22:39:14

Brilliant series, made me quite nostalgic.

Deedaa Sat 17-Feb-24 23:19:40

I haven't watched it yet, but I know Ambika was heart wrenchingly good in This Is Going To Hurt.

It's free to Audible members.

It might be worth checking to see if it's available if you were to take a free 30 day trial.

Enjoyed it too
