The old one is getting full, so here’s a nice shiny new one.

Where is Lauren? What is Dee Dee’s chap up to? Is Kit a villainous baddie or a force for good? Do we care?

Post your predictions and observations here (no spoilers please).

I have missed a few episodes here and there. What is the significance of the chest of drawers? What’s in it?

Kit is really nasty to poor old Bernie who has done her best to apologise.

Re the chest of drawers.

As I understood it, Dee Dee decided she wanted Joel to bring it with him to store stuff in when he moved in with her, but by then he had installed Lauren in his flat, it was too heavy to move on his own so he had to get help to fetch it.

Hence having to get Lauren out of the way shopping. Then he had to pretend he had forgotten to empty the fridge when he left!

“Oh what a tangled web we weave…”

As for not wanting Bernie for a replacement mum…well, to be honest, neither would I, if I were Kit.

I wish they’d get on with it too Granny. Just when we think it’s coming to an end they tack another drawn out bit on saying the same lines and looking grumpy.

Beechnut Thu 25-Jul-24 07:50:06

So much for Mason “putting bullying behind him”!

We’ve not heard anything about whether Kit has a dad. He certainly didn’t appear to be supporting anyone in the early days of his mums death by the amount of time he spent in the cafe.

Grannynannywanny Thu 25-Jul-24 07:48:13

I’m still not warming to Kit. Despite his purchase of the house I suspect he’s up to no good.

I wish they’d bring the Joel/Lauren storyline to a conclusion. It’s dragging on way too long. I was puzzled why he risked having Michael and Ronnie at the flat to collect the chest of drawers knowing that Lauren could have walked in.

I wonder what is planned for Paul’s eventual demise.
I don’t think they will go down the assisted suicide route, although it has been tackled before on other tv programmes.

With all this to-do about the stair lift, I wonder if eventually Paul will try and go out on his own, fall downstairs and die in the accident?

A better exit than seeing him waste away. I certainly don’t envisage he will go down the suicide route.

Kit’s inheritance from his mum has come through quick! She only died about a month ago.

And why is Dylan putting up with Mason? Didn’t Sean say there is a court order that he has to stay away from his son and Liam? Has Mason’s dad washed his hands of him?

No, me neither, but I think he's a wrong 'un.

Charleygirl5 Wed 24-Jul-24 21:47:03

I have not worked out what Kit's motives are.

Beechnut Wed 24-Jul-24 21:41:50

Mmm,don’t think Kit is a nice person.

fancythat Tue 23-Jul-24 12:12:38

I knew one person very well, about 30 years ago. And another, indirectly, a few years later.
I had hopes that by now, things would have improved a lot medically, since then.

I agree he is acting it all very well.

Aveline Tue 23-Jul-24 09:58:44

I seem to know so many people with MND. It's just dreadful. It's painful to see Paul but he's acting it all very well.
Good old Corrie highlighting this awful illness in such a relatable way. I hope donations skyrocket.

Doodledog Tue 23-Jul-24 08:23:42

I wondered about Kit buying somewhere to live that includes Gemma, Chesney and the five children but ruled it out as too insane even for Soapland. Being the landlord is a good shout though. I guess he’ll have an inheritance as his adoptive mother died recently. I can’t decide whether he’s a baddie either (probably).

Re Mason - much as I believe in ‘every saint has a past and every sinner has a future’, I hope he doesn’t become a much-loved Street regular after rescuing a child from a burning building or something. Street rehabilitation comes too easily.

Poor Paul. It’s very hard to watch, but so well done. Is the special episode going to be a fundraiser? If so I think it will do well. I’d put my hand in my pocket - I think a lot of viewers who have ‘got to know Paul’ would do likewise. It feels much closer to home than a more general appeal would do, even though we know ‘Paul’ is an actor.

I agree that Roy needs a good bath. Preferably with Dettol in it.

Charleygirl5 Tue 23-Jul-24 07:53:21

I believe there is to be an extra episode towards the end of this week. I will miss Paul, he seems a very pleasant fellow and has acted the part so well.

I cannot make up my mind why Kit is there. For good or bad?

Calendargirl Tue 23-Jul-24 06:36:55

And if Lauren wants to be a good mum for her baby, I wish you could see her eating something better than constantly stuffing chips into her mouth.

Paul must be on the way out soon.

I think there is soon going to be a whole MND episode. The storyline has apparently been approved by Rob Burrow’s family.

It’s a sad watch, but the actor playing Paul has done his part brilliantly.

Don’t like the rest of the family, no idea what Kit is bringing to the mix, apart from a ‘replacement’ son for Bernie.

Beechnut Mon 22-Jul-24 22:13:16

Will Kit be Gemma and Chesney’s new landlord?

Grannynannywanny Mon 22-Jul-24 22:05:50

I can’t bear Mason. I hope he doesn’t stick around for long but I suspect he will and he’ll become a reformed character and good mates with Liam and Dylan.

Also with Marie showing concern for Lauren this evening I wonder if she’s going to take her under her wing. She could have Kelly’s bedroom.

vegansrock Mon 22-Jul-24 21:51:32

Mason got a good suntan in the Young Offenders.
Poor Toyah - yet another miserable storyline for her. Let’s hope there is a positive ending.

Charleygirl5 Sun 21-Jul-24 08:36:44

lemsip I thought I wass the only one who could not tell the difference between so many "blond" girls all looking the same. Summer is the latest.

I wonder who will be the next person to need that single room in the hospital- it will not be vacant for long.

Roy needs a soak in a bath, a shave and clean clothes. He to me, looks a sight.

Beechnut Sat 20-Jul-24 18:28:53

Thanks Calendargirl.

I missed Wednesdays episode. How did Lauren end up in hospital?

Dee Dee and Bethany found her in a squat, (don’t ask how!)

Of course, DD had to ring Joel to tell him, he dashed over, tried to get Lauren away, she was terrified, collapsed, DD and B luckily appeared, and got her to hospital, 5 months pregnant, undernourished and scared. Baby and mum ok though,

Until dastardly Joel gets his hands on them…

as if carla would let herself be bullied by that young girl even if she is daughter of swain.
who does bethany think she is. her character is so unbelievable!
and how could joel get away with so much!
