The old one is getting full, so here’s a nice shiny new one.

Where is Lauren? What is Dee Dee’s chap up to? Is Kit a villainous baddie or a force for good? Do we care?

Post your predictions and observations here (no spoilers please).

Doodledog Wed 05-Jun-24 07:58:35

I’ve seen him in a few things, and always think ‘oh, that’s Nasty Nathan’. It must be difficult to shake off the role of a baddie in a soap, as viewers see them for weeks (or in some cases what feels like centuries) going about their evil deeds, and it’s hard to imagine them as a straight love interest or kindly neighbour.

I wonder when evil Joel will be exposed. Poor DeeDee will be devastated when the truth comes out. In the meantime Bethany needs to watch her back as she’s now causing him problems.

For anyone who hasn’t seen it, my friend sent me this clip. The actor playing Joel kept his guilty secret from his family for months. Then when the reveal episode was aired he watched it with his Gran and filmed her reaction. She was stunned. Her reaction is very funny.

Apparently Helen Worth aka Gail Platt is quitting Corrie at the end of the year, according to the Daily Mirror

Calendargirl Wed 05-Jun-24 13:23:27

If that’s true about Gail, well, we don’t see much of her now.

In real life, isn’t she about 74?

Ready for a well earned retirement.

Cabowich Wed 05-Jun-24 13:33:15

It's just been on the news about Helen Worth leaving, so it must be true smile. She hasn't had any good storylines recently so I'm not surprised, although she's going out with a good 'un.

Doodledog Wed 05-Jun-24 13:48:13

Please can we not post spoilers? It's about the only 'rule' on this thread.

Charleygirl5 Wed 05-Jun-24 14:18:29

That is not a spoiler as the news is splashed everywhere.

sharon103 Wed 05-Jun-24 14:21:08

Calendargirl

I don’t think that’s what sharon meant, BlueBelle, more that with Bobby’s dad being in prison, he might have heard rumours about it all, and have other information about what’s going on.

🤷‍♀️?

Thank you Calendargirl.
Yes that's what I meant.

BlueBelle Wed 05-Jun-24 14:23:45

That’s not a spoiler Doodlebug I was then going to say I d just read she was leaving at the end of the year
I think she’s nearly as old as Audrey in real life she probably feels it’s time to retire and have a rest She’s not been in it much lately

Doodledog Wed 05-Jun-24 15:00:35

Ok, sorry. I haven't seen the News, but if it's all over I suppose it's not as much of a spoiler as if it were in one of those soap magazines grin.

I won't miss Gail - I find her really annoying. I think it's the simpering way she talks that does it.

Dingleberry Wed 05-Jun-24 15:13:20

Not watched Coronation Street for years.

BlueBelle Wed 05-Jun-24 15:48:24

Well that’s a great addition to the thread Dingleberry 🙃

Aveline Wed 05-Jun-24 16:49:35

Shall we all add a list of programmes we don't watch? No. Because that's pointless. I don't know why people do it😑

Doodledog Wed 05-Jun-24 17:14:45

I watch it every week, even though I don't pay attention grin. I have something else on this evening, but hope to still see it live, even if I'm ten minutes behind. If not, I'll see it on catch up.

maddyone Wed 05-Jun-24 23:56:15

or in some cases what feels like centuries grin

Calendargirl Thu 06-Jun-24 06:54:08

Joel’s mother was so over-the-top, both in her manner and her accent, seemed put on.

Carol Royle, who played her, was very beautiful in her younger days, still very attractive.

Remember her in a series called ‘The Outsider’, 40 odd years ago, alongside a very handsome, youthful John Duttine.

Think she also played the dying wife of Anton Lesser’s character in ‘Endeavour’.

Clawdy Thu 06-Jun-24 08:06:38

Joel has the tiniest mouth ever!

Beechnut Thu 06-Jun-24 09:13:39

I hadn’t noticed that Clawdy. Guess what I’ll be looking for tomorrow 🤣

Calendargirl Thu 06-Jun-24 13:56:43

I don’t know about his mouth, it’s his floppy hair that I’m not keen on.

Doodledog Thu 06-Jun-24 14:50:32

I'm not keen on his psychopathic tendencies either grin.

Why do so many Corrie murderers have to be full-on serial killers? Stephen, Richard H, Pat Phelan, John Stape - psychopaths to a man. And then there are all the single-offence murderers - Alan Bradley, Gary Windass, Tony (Gordon?), Jez Quigley, Tracey, Jim McDonald and was it Sarah who killed whoever was buried in the garden? Peter Barlow killed Stephen and Toyah killed Imran. Oh, and Des was killed too. There's bound to be lots I've forgotten on top of that lot.

The Corrie postcode should come with a large red flag grin I'd think twice about moving there.

sodapop Thu 06-Jun-24 15:04:47

BlueBelle

Well that’s a great addition to the thread Dingleberry 🙃

I agree, some people like to feel superior to us lesser mortals who watch the soaps.
I unashamedly watch Emmerdale, Corrie and Enders. I may not enjoy every story line but its " my only weakness" to quote Larkrise to Candleford.

Calendargirl Thu 06-Jun-24 17:49:40

No, Sarah didn’t kill the chap who ended up buried under the Platts’ garage, it was David’s first wife (whose name escapes me) Max and Lily’s mum. Kirstie?

She did it to save Sarah as the baddie, Harry’s dad, was attacking her.

Doodledog Thu 06-Jun-24 17:55:50

Ah right, thanks. Kylie? Who was also murdered, if memory serves.

Aveline Thu 06-Jun-24 20:43:38

DeeDee is a most peculiar shape. She must be wearing a huge corset.
