The Archers making me feel queasy!

Am I the only person who is feeling slightly queasy listening to Joy and Mick discussing their sex life in the Archers? I'm thrilled for anyone who is having a good sex life but but I really don't want to hear about it, whether on television, the radio or in real life. I'm not a prude but some things are better kept kept quiet in my opinion!

Is there one lovely Archer family woman?

You’re welcome. I’ve enjoyed my wander through the thread.

Did someone say there is an Archers thread on GN? I follow one on Facebook but people get admonished if they say something the main contributors don’t like.

What about fingerprints on the steering wheel?

The unforgivable bit was when he dragged Alice into the driving seat to implicate her.

I stopped listening during the Rob story as I didn't think it well done. Nor did some refuges. I resumed listening and now agree I don't want to hear about Joy and Mick making the van rock. I don't like him and agree he doesn't sound very clean. The Archers does like to pick up issues, relevant to the many unfinished stories or not. They then use their personality transplant fairy to shoehorn residents into the stories,.

I agree in hoping that George's criminal behaviour is outed soon. I'm hoping the police might now need to look at Alice's car and collect evidence, find the alco-pops and Joy and Alastair will remember George bought them. Some listeners think he will confess but I don't think so. He has no conscience and always manages to push any blame onto someone else.

I’m fond of Alice, and Chris, and hope they eventually get back together. Daft, I know.

I think it is great that the programme can play two people having a healthy morning after discussion about sex, and that the characters are older is even better. They are having fun in a consensual activity, and why not?
I did think that Helen and Lee were having a sexual relationship, but we never heard them having a 'morning after' discussion as we have with Joy and Mick.

George left the message on Will’s phone, but managed to delete it. His phone is still drying out, but it may be the message can be recovered

Wyllow3 Tue 25-Jun-24 20:58:44

OH yes, I recall that now.

Wyllow3 Tue 25-Jun-24 20:58:18

Yes, he did communicate with Will, but my recall hazy on what was said.

Farzanah Tue 25-Jun-24 20:48:13

George deleted his message on Will’s phone.

George left a message on someone's phone, did he not? Saying he'd found Alice's keys? Was it Will's? George is really nasty, but Alice is spoilt. Yes alcoholism is an illness, I have every sympathy for that, but after all she'd put everyone through she made demands about custody of Martha, and was successful, which was most unfair on Chris who had had to handle everything - now she is proving she never was a 'safe' mother. As an alcoholic, how 'safe' is one, ever? I love writing stories and often itch to have a go at Archer's script-writing - how sad is that!

Farzanah Tue 25-Jun-24 19:45:12

Yes Wyllow They’re starting to ramp it up……this will go on for weeks me thinks.

Wyllow3 Tue 25-Jun-24 19:43:01

Court appearance already mentioned to George tonight .....Ed laid it on with a trowel.

eGJ Tue 25-Jun-24 18:47:15

I of course meant next week’s cast, hot weather getting to me too!

eGJ Tue 25-Jun-24 18:46:30

Joy and Mick not in next week’s cat, perhaps the weather is too hot for hot sex grin

Have given up The Archers fairly recently because of the animal skins on the tea room walls story. It was Tony Archer talking about his animals being “ dispatched “I’d rather listen to tales of Joy & Mick’s sex life- conjure up a much happier picture. Before anyone reacts to my squeamishness, I KNOW that animals are killed for human consumption, my Dad was a butcher( even though I’m a vegetarian) but I don’t want to curl up with my cocoa thinking of animals being killed. Hope Joy and Mick are having a lovely time !

I gave up the Archers years ago too, the stories just seemed too unbelievable, not the down to earth "everyday story of country folk" that we used to have.

Farzanah Tue 25-Jun-24 14:23:00

I think George’s guilt will drag on until Alice is in court and then with great drama it will all come out. Perhaps a last minute witness?
They aim for maximum audience ratings.

leeds22 Tue 25-Jun-24 14:20:58

I've stopped listening to the Archers, I now read the programme resumes once a week, to keep up to date.

Wyllow3 Tue 25-Jun-24 13:48:01

Crown court will call George as a witness. In real life it would take forever to come up, so I expect there will be some revelations before.
Interesting point re insurance investigations tho it hasn't been mentioned.
I have sympathies for Alice, I know many don't, but to have a village hate her for something she didn't do is awful. And I've read on other SM condemnations that ignore the fact alcoholism is an illness and say Martha should be taken away from her etc. I still think she has a chance of fighting it but with all the hatred...
