Best News Programme went to GB News Breakfast

If Bobby Seagull is a sometimes guest it can’t be that bad.

Oh, yes, I like Bobby

I don’t know how anyone can support NF in n any way. A man who thinks that Andrew Tate is an important voice for young men.

MayBee70 Sat 29-Jun-24 14:31:26

I take your point nanna8. As someone that can’t tell a lie ( I blush terribly: I even blush if I am telling the truth but feel that someone thinks I’m lying ) I’m fascinated by people that find it so easy to tell blatant lies.

nanna8 Sat 29-Jun-24 01:04:11

I find him fascinating, MayBee70 I also listen and watch speeches by Stalin, Hitler and Churchill. I haven’t got a closed mind that only takes notice of the people I support and agree with. That way danger lies. If you don’t know what people are saying how can you be informed about their views ?

Name a political figure that isn't petra

I don’t like Farage, either but you have to admit he is an amusing and talented speaker. Maybe that is where he should be, not in politics?

He’s already paid for public speaking.

For someone that professes not to like him why do you find him amusing? How can you find an unpleasant person amusing

Were "The people"who voted for Farage all people who watch "GB News"? If so these are a very particular minority of people,

Your comment seems odd to me Varian?

The voting system had categories.
Names were put forward from ALL tv channels.
Any one could vote for a candidate they liked.

Impossible to label, categorise, or pigeon hole voters for any candidate.

All that can be said is people liked them and voted.

I've just remembered that TRIC altered the closing date of the voting as it drew near.
They added an extra week I think.
Why would they do that I wonder?
The only reason I can think off is that the person they hoped would win didnt get enough votes.
So they pushed back the date to allow more (with encouragement?)
To vote in the direction they wanted?

Also I dont think they notified GbN who only found out the day before the new end date, that the voting was still open.
If I'm correct, then far from NF rigging the vote (as was suggested by AC), someone at TRIC seems to have done just that.

And what sort of ā€œparticular people ā€œwould they be then? šŸ¤“And a minority as well ! 😜

Well done Nigel !

Cossy Fri 28-Jun-24 11:14:41

Well done! Anyone who wins awards voted for by ā€œthe peopleā€ obviously appeals to a section of the public.

I don’t like Farage, but he’s a great speaker and maybe this should be his calling!

Thanks for calling us ā€œpearl clutchersā€, just because we don’t share your views.

Shinamae having just heard what supporters of Farage say when they are my talking together, I'll stick to my own friends, thank you. Just disgusting racist, homophobic people who support the BNP and feel confident enough that their group are the same that they can spread their horrible ideas with impunity. If Farage isn't aware of what his supporters think he's an uninformed idiot.

Fair enough, but don’t say people aren’t supporting Farage because they are whether you like it or not..šŸ™„
And of course, all the other parties are so squeaky clean..šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

Yes it makes sense maybee70.

Thank you Shinamae much appreciatedšŸ‘

I agree that we approach things in a partisan way[it's human nature I guess] but I do try to look beyond that. Eg I will always give a party credit for something that they do that I think is good no matter which party it is. And I've probably written to more Conservative MP's in recent years than Labour ones, usually to thank them for something. And have had some lovely replies. As one of them said, you could vote for us you know, it is a secret ballot! Then again I usually loathe someone for what they've said not loathed what they've said because they've said it [if that makes sense].

"Scotland too dangerous for Farage, says Richard Tice"

www.telegraph.co.uk/politics/2024/06/26/scotland-too-dangerous-nigel-farage-richard-tice-reform/

Perhaps he should stick to presenting for niche right wing broadcasters and give up trying to lead a political party if he is too afraid to go to Scotland!

Namsnanny Thu 27-Jun-24 14:31:42

Good for you (not an underhanded jab, as it can sometimes come across as 😊)

But...(playing Devils advocate), I do wonder if someone is loathed, whether it is humanly possible for most of us to give credence to what they are actually saying?

Anyway, there are lots of threads about NF, so it would be nice if this one was primarily about GbN, although I realise the title included his name.

MayBee70 Thu 27-Jun-24 13:06:39

Well Namsnanny I did make an effort to listen to the interview so will you listen to a The Rest is Politics podcast? Alastair talks a lot about things like mental health: both he and Rory despair of the fact that there is still so little support for people in this country. It isn’t all about politics. Andrew Pearce who interviewed him is someone who is often on the news review on Sky News with Kevin McGuire ( sp) and I can’t stand him. And looking at the other people on GB News it’s like a roll call of everyone in politics and journalism that I loathe. But I will try to watch some of it for the sake of balance.

Callistemon213 Thu 27-Jun-24 12:56:14

Nigel Farage is one of the best public speakers around, agree with him or not. He is witty, spontaneous and never boring. What he is actually saying is often questionable but, wow, he says it well. I can understand why ,totally, that people follow him.

So was Hitler. And Oswald Moseley. And Enoch Powell….

Wow! šŸ¤¦ā€ā™€ļø
Such vitriol against Nigel Farage, comparing him to Hitler is absolutely disgusting.

No. I’m just saying that being a good public speaker doesn’t necessarily equate to being the right person to lead a country.

Namsnanny

You have to give it to NF, doesn't matter what the subject is, if people get a sniff he is connected they can't resist coming out with their black or white views.
Talk about Marmite (grin).

He courts controversy so it's to be expected. I know a lot of people who like Marmite fortunately I don't know many who like NF. I hope it stays that way.

I think you need to widen your circle of friends then,it was ā€œThe Peopleā€who voted Nigel,News presenter of the year, for the second year running as well šŸ¤“
