I see that Graziano is no longer part of the professional Strictly line up.

Similar to Giovanni issue?

Calendargirl Sat 20-Jul-24 17:58:56

Joseann

Wasn't it Brendan who, after he'd left the show, used to sit on the sofa and criticise all the contestants and pros in a sour manner?
I don't think Craig and he ever got on.

That could have been James Jordan?

He always seemed very bitter after being dropped.

👍

Anniebach Sat 20-Jul-24 18:07:56

Professional male dancers with faults !

Joseann Sat 20-Jul-24 18:10:11

Well, they can't all be as nice as Nikita, and who was that other young one who left?

Joseann Sat 20-Jul-24 18:11:27

Oh yes, and lovely Johannes.

A J Pritchard.

How about a past winners season of Strictly?

Great idea!

BluebelleI watched that documentary about the Russian gymnasts with my daughter who was about 11 at the time. She was training 15 - 18 hours a week as a gymnast and her comment was "I wish I had someone who would make me work that hard" She wasn't even bothered by the starvation because she ate very little when she was training.

Jonq Sat 20-Jul-24 21:34:24

His spokes person acknowledge that he had kicked his partner during training. Surely that's not acceptable no matter how charming he may seem in public?!?

Calendargirl Sun 21-Jul-24 06:38:15

I never liked him (Graziano), before all this, because of his hair.

Always looked messy and greasy.

BlueBelle Sun 21-Jul-24 07:21:33

Deeda that’s a bit glib those children some as young as four were doing nothing else day in day out they were pushed and pulled and shouted at from dawn to dusk It was the only life they had ! I m sure neither you or you’re daughter would have wanted that

She wasn't even bothered by the starvation because she ate very little when she was training
For a child’s mother to suggest near starvation in sports isn’t a problem totally knocks me sideways

NotSpaghetti Sun 21-Jul-24 08:39:58

BlueBelle, I don't think Deedaa was suggesting starvation was a good idea at all!

I took it that she was just telling us a story about her daughter who was accepting of the punishing regime because it was something she loved. I believe her daughter didn't see the abuse that most of us would see. This was not a mother suggesting near starvation.

Yes, Johannes.
He seemed to be a really lovely person.
😍

Now it seems that A J (Pritchard) "accidentally slapped" the face of one of his celeb partners. Sigh.

I'm sad to say this but I think we're going through Strictly's #MeToo moment.

His hair will be even more messy now. It is reported that he is working back home in Scicily on a cow farm! 🐄 🐄
I never liked Graziano's dancing in the groups. Always pushing himself forward and leaning into the camera.

Oh no! Who next?

When you perform together as a couple, it's impossible not to accidentally stamp on your partner's foot, whack them in the face, push them into a move etc. Especially if that partner is the weaker partner.

Sparklefizz Sun 21-Jul-24 09:05:18

And I've read that there are rumours of a female pro screaming in her male celeb's face, so now he is complaining! Sigh.

Anne Widdecombe says they are all whinging snowflakes and what did they expect?

Sparklefizz Sun 21-Jul-24 09:06:32

My boyfriend and I went to ballroom lessons back in the day, and he frequently stepped on my toes. Perhaps I should sue? grin

BlueBelle Sun 21-Jul-24 09:06:43

Notspagetti I didnt see it as that at all, not for a minute but we can’t be easy going about theses things have you seen how quickly body image or strict regimes can lead to Anorexia
I ve seen it first hand and it’s so so hard to break

Before anyone jumps on me, I am MOST DEFINITELY not condoning abuse during dance training sessions. I only quoted AW as a bit of humour and the sort of stern no-nonsense comment we could expect from her.

Anniebach Sun 21-Jul-24 09:20:08

Excuses still being made for abuse

DH and I had ballroom lessons in our 30’s and my toes definitely suffered, so I’ll be after you in the queue! 😁

Joseann
It does seem a bit like #metoo.
With memories about what happened if you complained about bullying at school, I can understand why contestants didn’t complain about it at the time, but surely, if it was that bad, they’d have told all afterwards especially if there’s always been cameras in there to back up the complaints.

Joseann Sun 21-Jul-24 09:26:16

I think Shirley and Motsi, even Darcey, should come out with the truths - both good and bad - attached to rigorous dance training. They would be listened to as experts.

Anniebach Sun 21-Jul-24 09:35:07

Shirley and Motsi are employed by the BBC
