I m sure it’s been said before but I hate these embarrassing ads. Pet hate at the moment is the lady peeing her pants at the yoga class. Yuk!

There is an advert for Mens Tena pants, it has a man stood by a fish tank for some reason, don't see it often (on Sky I think) - unlike the terrible one for the women's ones. Any Sanitary products really don't need advertising.

I tend to record anything with adverts in and then fast forward through them, but the stupid one with two woman with plug in air fresheners (another hate) always annoys.
The Tesco one - stupid.
We buy any car - no, wouldn't persuade me to try.

Yes to all the above! So demeaning to all women! And now we have the Tampax add comparing it to the weather 🫣😡

Shinamae

Yes, they are quite unsavoury some of them particularly, some woman sitting on the toilet something to do with periods and there’s one that’s come on quite recently about the “gush” and a certain type of ST will contain any sort of gush…
Talk about too much information.. 🙄
Almost makes me clutch my pearls 😉

I’d clutch my pearls too if I had any along with you😂 so many grim and cringey ads.
I do like the webuyanycar ones tho and Haribo ads.

Watched Season 2 of The Twelve last night on ITV-X (which is fantastic, BTW). We haven't got round to paying for it without the adverts, so have to suffer them.

This ad came on about ultra-thin condoms and it showed a young man lying back with a look of bliss on his face (I can only imagine what he was meant to be doing). Ugh. It almost put me off watching the lovely Sam Neill.

Talking of the Virgin para-gliding goats, we went to a petting zoo with the GC and the youngest remarked

they are having a rest now and not flying in the sky

I love the walrus in the speed boat

Ah! So men's TENA is advertised!

I hardly ever watch Sky so that's probably why I've never seen it.

And, yes - that plug-in air freshener ad is so dumb! I really dislike adverts that feature women enthusing with smug satisfaction over home-care and cleaning products - it's so 1940s!

I'm with you and Shinamae.

Obviously women (and men) need to know that these products exist so they need to be advertised - but do the ads need to be so unsophisticated and tasteless?

Skydancer Wed 04-Sept-24 10:44:50

When shopping I try to remember the ones I hate the most so I can remember not to buy the products. I can't stand them except the Specsaver ones which are really funny.

What about the 'poonami' advert for disposable nappies. Just yuk. The advert for childcare where the gorgeous little girl says 'I'm in the camera' always makes me smile.

I really hate those adds especially when we get a close up of their backsides to show there's no leakage! Call me old fashioned but is nothing private anymore? sad

Decorum is a thing of the past.

I just love the things children come out with GG.grin

I rather like the walrus too.

I find that one quite funny TBH - but then I have fairly recent experience of poonamis, courtesy of the Gdcs.

I must be in the minority here, but I can't say I've ever got myself worked up over an advert. We don't really watch much live tv anyway, so I've not seen half the ones you're all clutching your pearls over, but given that they advertise toilet paper, what's the big deal about sanitary products? It's 2024 after all, we've moved on from the days when you could only buy them in plain brown paper bags - and asked for in hushed tones.

knspol Wed 04-Sept-24 12:36:03

I detest the adverts with the woman 'letting it all go' during a yoga class and the one with the close up of various women's armpits but my pet hate at the moment it the funeral add where for some reason the man is sat in the bath and the woman is faffing around outside the door speaking to him about direct cremations or such like.

springishere Wed 04-Sept-24 12:37:03

Haven't seen any of these. They all sound horrible. I'm so glad I record everything and fast-forward through them.

Crossstitchfan Wed 04-Sept-24 12:39:30

Funny how we are all so different.. I HATE the Haribo ads! 🤣

grandtanteJE65 Wed 04-Sept-24 12:41:08

Frankly, I have never understood why anyone feels the need to advertise sanitary protection, pads for incontinence, babies nappies, nappies for adults, cures for prostate troubles etc. etc.

Anyone who needs any of the above, and we can add condoms to the list, knows where to buy them.

Indigo8 Wed 04-Sept-24 12:41:53

I know I shouldn't but I hate adverts that show victims of animal cruelty.
I know it goes on and I often send donations to animal charities but sometimes I just want to relax and watch a bit of mindless TV.

pamdixon Wed 04-Sept-24 12:44:30

And what about the man whistling at his daughter's wedding - really annoying and I now can't even remember what the advert is for!! Couldn't agree more about the Tesco one and the ladies pee pads........but I do like the Crypto currency one.

Boz Wed 04-Sept-24 12:45:53

Have you seen the horror of night-time period pads with the girl rolling over in bed displaying her bloody pad peeping from the leg of her shorts; a straight shot up her backside so we get the idea!

PamQS Wed 04-Sept-24 12:49:03

I’m afraid I found the ads for incontinence pads hilarious where a glamorous lady in a purple dress accidentally showed her knickers to a distinguished middle-aged gentleman, including getting her skirt caught in the doors of a lift!

essjay Wed 04-Sept-24 12:55:02

yes agree, the pee pants and the gush are terrible ads. Do love the AA ad with the lighthouse keeper. Used to love the clearscore ad with charlie and moose but do not like the new ads with a new charlie and moose, it seems more forced

Mollygo Wed 04-Sept-24 13:01:14

Just the words bulky pee pants makes me cringe!
I also detest those Haribo adverts with the silly voices.

Jaxjacky Wed 04-Sept-24 13:13:11

They don’t bother me either MissInterpreted I just switch off while they’re on, but agree we’re in the 21st century and I’m pleased normal bodily functions are no longer unmentionable.

heavenlyheath Wed 04-Sept-24 13:21:04

The specsavers ads now on befire Emmerdale are dreadful
