I m sure it’s been said before but I hate these embarrassing ads. Pet hate at the moment is the lady peeing her pants at the yoga class. Yuk!

Pure Cremation, " must get ours done" is really irritating. Also, the ones you can clearly see are dubbed.

The Crunchynut Cornflakes is a bad advert, because you remember the stunt not the product

Etoile2701 Wed 04-Sept-24 17:08:52

I can't stand the one where people are going to bed in the park; the Tesco ads; we buy any car; anything to do with incontinence pads or periods; AA and most car adverts; funeral plan ads and the chocolate bar ads with two bears salivating over two men ..... but I do like the Maltesers ad; the Snickers ad where there is a misunderstanding about a partner swap and the Flash one with a man, a boy and a dog.

Etoile2701 Wed 04-Sept-24 17:16:31

And I can't stand the one with the person who has a mouth on their forehead. These ads actually put me OFF buying the product. But I do like the talking boxer dog although my husband hates it!

I love the Kelloggs one where a man is getting all passionate in bed but the woman would rather eat her cornflakes. It always makes me laugh.

I like the twix ad with the bears.
So glad I’m not the only one who hates the pee pants ad.
Who remembers the roller skating pandas?

Shinamae Wed 04-Sept-24 18:09:19

The one that really irritates me at the moment is the two women comparing plug-in air fresheners and one of them going over to the other side and saying”it’s so fresh”🤨
It’s her tone of voice, you’d think she just discovered the wheel

Most (well ALL) advertisements are cobbled together by moronic low-lifes who aim for the lowest common denominator. Other low-lifes.
And they seem to work judging by company profits.

Oh and the ones about the home security products.

A woman seen sitting with her mother, worrying about the poor old dear being alone.

Mother looks to be a similar age to daughter.

I really dislike the ads for incontinence products and sanitary pads. I am also not keen on those that refer to constipation or the horrible smells that people make. Worst of all for me are those advertising products for fungal nail conditions or earwax in graphic detail. The thing is, we are adults and we know there is a need for these products but we don't need to be shown every intimate detail, especially if we happen to be eating something at the time.

Dianehillbilly1957 Wed 04-Sept-24 19:36:43

Pee, period and erection adverts just shock tactics, we don't need to see them.

Greciangirl Wed 04-Sept-24 19:38:42

Spec savers are imaginative and always very funny.

But I agree about the sanitary ads.
So unsavoury and unnecessary.

flappergirl Wed 04-Sept-24 20:04:03

Bulky pee pants, the advert where the boy has a mouth on his forehead and the Maltesers one where they introduce gran's boyfriend as her "companion". The bulky pee pants one seems to irritate a lot of posters, so advertisers take note.

Dizzyribs Wed 04-Sept-24 20:35:50

I agree with Dianehillbilly1957 that many are out to shock, but unfortunately they are now so common that they are just unpleasantly predictable.
I don’t get the car advert where lots of fireflies follow and engulf the vehicle- who wants to choose a new car that ensures you will be chased and surrounded by insects!

Mojack26 Wed 04-Sept-24 21:01:51

You are not alone! I hate them all!! Every single one

Pippa22 Wed 04-Sept-24 21:31:05

Well I’m sure men don’t like the period and female wee problem adverts and it seems that females don’t either judging by the posts on here so who are the advertisers target market do you think ?

JudyBloom Wed 04-Sept-24 21:51:09

Nothing is sacred any more, decorum, feminine mystery and decency have gone out of the window. I agree with you Ellie Anne. These adverts are embarrassing when they suddenly come on and you're watching something with your family, it also embarrasses them. They really do go too far and are unnecessary.

Skydancer Wed 04-Sept-24 22:00:16

Totally agree JudyBloom.

Kim19 Wed 04-Sept-24 22:13:12

My current distasteful one is the children who need a tissue but don't have one and use other explicit alternatives. A huge yuck!

Gingster Wed 04-Sept-24 22:24:54

I was watching tv with ds2 and the ad about vaginal dryness came on. 😡

Whiff Wed 04-Sept-24 22:33:17

Why is it always women in ads for diarrhoea and constipation? Surly men get diarrhoea and constipated as well.
The head and shoulders adds annoys me when the actor keeps saying I haven't got dandruff.

Where is the daring milk tray action man or the woman eating a flake ? Used to love the Henry Cooper splash it all over ad. Anyone remember beware theirs a Humphrey about with the long striped straws. I know it's not PC anymore but used to live the PG tips ads with the chimps especially the removal on where the son says do you know the pianos on my foot and the dad says you hum it I'll play it..

Katek Wed 04-Sept-24 23:22:36

I hope the actress in the pee pants ad has stashed her fees for this as she's going to find it hard to get work after this! Love the crypto ad but a favourite of mine is the little girl buying a bar of chocolate for her mum with a couple of coins and a tiny plastic pony. The look on her face when the shopkeeper gives it back to her as 'change' is very touching.

Chocolatenoodle8 Wed 04-Sept-24 23:28:28

I don’t like the wee or periods ads either. Especially when they’re screened at 8.00pm!! I can imagine young children asking questions.

I'm sorry to say that the "We Buy Any Car" ad always brings Philip Schofield to mind.......

I've got the answer to all the dreadful ads....
I record EVERYTHING, NEVER watch anything at the time it's aired, then I can, and do, whiz through all the ads.
If I want to watch something at approximately it's airing time, I wait until 5-6mins after the start for 30min programmes, 10-12mins for hour-long ones, then play the recording (it continues to record as you watch), so then whiz through the ads, and finish watching the programme at approximately the same time as it finishes airing.
Simple really.
