Strictly restarts this Saturday when it will be the pairing up of celebs and pros..... which may even be less cringe-making than usual. grin

I don't know many of this year's celebs, but nothing new to that, and no doubt I shall get hooked in as usual.

I am only guessing but I think the dance off could be Shayne and Nancy, and Wynne and Katya, with Wynne getting the judges vote to go through to Blackpool.
I do think they were all good tonight. I found Petes performance emotional, and very genuine. He is not a trained dancer, and his improvement and the joy of wanting to get through is second to none.

I think Chris is dancing spectacularly considering he has no idea how any dance should look.

Loved Sarah and Vito along with Pete Wicks and Jowita.

Millie22 Sat 09-Nov-24 20:30:10

Sarah and Vito were incredible. I'm amazed at those lifts.

Grannynannywanny Sat 09-Nov-24 20:37:32

Another very entertaining evening. Sarah and Vito were fabulous. I was expecting Jamie’s Argentine tango to be fabulous but I found it rather disappointing. Not a patch on Sarah and Vito’s a couple of weeks ago.

Chris and Diane amaze me every week. I think they were under marked by Craig. Once again, in my humble opinion, Wynne was over marked. I wasn’t convinced Pete’s performance deserved those high scores. Tomorrow evening will be interesting.

I liked Sarah and Vito, they are working so hard week on week. I have championed JB from the start on here, and will continue to do so because he has great musicality. I think Chris and Diane might win overall, I liked the dark bit of their dance where the blackout was symbolic of his blindness.
Shane to go home, maybe against Montell or Wynne.

Hope dance off is Pete and Wynne, but it won't be. Always liked Pete before, but I get so fed up of the sob stories on Strictly.

Sparklefizz Sun 10-Nov-24 08:24:46

I'd like to see Wynne go home but even if he is in the dance off, I suspect the judges would keep him in until he's been to Blackpool. Shirley has a soft spot for him.

Sparklefizz Sun 10-Nov-24 08:27:48

Totally agree. Michelle was doing all the ganchos and dancing around him.

Allsorts Sun 10-Nov-24 08:31:18

I watch every week but for me it's lost it's magic.

Calendargirl Sun 10-Nov-24 08:40:49

Well, they will be coming out in force now. We’ve got rid of the really weak dancers, and it will be every man (and woman) for themselves now.

And next week, at Blackpool, we’ll have reminiscences of Granny and Granddad foxtrotting around the ballroom sixty years ago….

🥲

Grannynannywanny Sun 10-Nov-24 10:39:35

It’s one thing for some viewers to be affected by the emotional back stories and fair enough if the judges comment on how the dance was very emotional/granny would be so proud etc. But for Shirley to award Pete a 10 and only give Sarah an 8 was ridiculous.

Sparklefizz Sun 10-Nov-24 11:53:54

The judges' marking gets worse with each series.

Grannynannywanny Sun 10-Nov-24 11:58:11

Shirley doesn’t even pretend to be an impartial judge. She clearly has her favourites. She really gets on my wick with her silly standing ovations for the chosen few 😡

Mollygo Sun 10-Nov-24 12:23:39

You could be right about Wynne being kept in even if he’s in the dance off.
As a personal opinion, I wish they wouldn’t have those silly frilly pants costumes.

Anniebach Sun 10-Nov-24 12:36:58

If Wynne is in the dance off is it not because he will have least number of votes ?

Calendargirl Sun 10-Nov-24 13:05:52

There shouldn’t be any standing ovations, from any judge, for any contestant, no matter how good their performance.

IMH(can’t dance at all)O.

rafichagran Sun 10-Nov-24 13:12:39

I hate sob stories, but I will make a exception for Pete, this was genuine, he was quiet at the judges comments and trying to hold in his emotions, I could see it was hard for him. He us still genuinely grieving.
Also he is a very much improved dancer with no training. I find that commendable.

Grannynannywanny Sun 10-Nov-24 13:33:48

rafichagran I agree Pete looking genuinely very emotional. But he’s being judged on his dancing and I don’t think it deserved a 10 from Shirley when she only managed to award Sarah and Vito’s great performance an 8. It’s very unfair.

Calendargirl Sun 10-Nov-24 13:46:17

Yes, poor Pete’s bottom lip wobbled dangerously at times.

Not his usual ‘cool, mean persona’.

And yes, his performance in no way warranted a 10, but an 8 for Sarah was about right last night.

Sparklefizz Sun 10-Nov-24 13:59:58

Anniebach

If Wynne is in the dance off is it not because he will have least number of votes ?

Yes, but then, as you know, he will have to dance against another person with a low number of votes, and the judges will decide who to save.

Anniebach Sun 10-Nov-24 14:03:32

Yes, thank you Sparklefizz thought so

Casdon Sun 10-Nov-24 14:19:22

I think it’s likely that Shayne will go this week, he was second from bottom of the leaderboard, and he’s been in the dance off twice already. There are a few lurking, but he’s consistently had the lowest scores of everybody who is still there.

It's obvious that Shirley always overmarks Pete.
I wonder why? 🤔

Could someone who is top or near top of the leaderboard be in the dance-off because the public didn't vote for them in sufficient numbers?
Or is the judging such that it would be statistically impossible?

Does anyone know?

Casdon Sun 10-Nov-24 15:55:55

Yes Allira, the public vote determines who is in the bottom two, that’s why I fear for Shayne.
