Strictly restarts this Saturday when it will be the pairing up of celebs and pros..... which may even be less cringe-making than usual. grin

I don't know many of this year's celebs, but nothing new to that, and no doubt I shall get hooked in as usual.

It's getting quite interesting with few couples left, but maybe not in a good way.

There's every possibility that the final could be Chris and Pete or at least one of them - if you look at the possibilities -

Chris and Pete both in dance off (together) - one will go, but will still leave the other in the competition.

Chris OR Pete in dance off with one of the better couples - then Chris or Pete will go but that will still leave one of them in the running.

It then needs to be another dance off with the remaining (Chris or Pete) for the same thing to happen.

So Chris and Pete have both got to be in the dance off in the next 3 or 4 weeks against one of the better couples in order for them to be out before the final.

But, given they both obviously have a huge number of people voting for them, it may be neither will ever be in the dance off thus catapulting them both into the final.

The very reason John Sergeant pulled out as he really didn't think it would be fair for him to be in the final or to potentially win.

If that all makes sense!

I think there's only 3 weeks left. So in the final, 14th December, there will be four couples left, won't there? I guess one couple could go out early on in the programme to be left with 3 finalists. Or maybe there'll be a double eviction next week?

Sara1954

surprising how many people aren’t watching it this year year, that always used to.

I don’t think as many GN’ers are watching (or if they are, not commenting).

Last year, there were 2 Strictly threads, garnering over 1600 comments.

Only up to about 800 on the one thread, so far this year.

hmm

Gosh is it only 3 weeks left? I thought it was longer but November seems to be going faster than my brain!

So they've both got to be in the dance-off in the next 2 weeks if the final is to be the better dancers rather than the contestant with the bigger fan base.

I'm not sure why Pete W has lasted this long.
I know his tango wasn't bad but he isn't better than Jamie B who has shown a feel for dancing over the past 10 weeks and yet he has just got eliminated.
It's rumoured that Chris will win so I'm not expecting him to be in the dance off any time soon.

There doesn't seem to be as many watching this year and we've lost Callistemon who used to comment.

I'm also missing Joseann who actually knew a lot about dance and often explained things.

Pete Wicks has a huge social media following, goodness only know why. Their votes will be keeping him in whether he has 2 left feet or not. Makes a mockery of it being a dancing competition.

It was the pink trousers!

If it was a dance competition the public wouldn’t vote, only professional judges would.
As it is a popularity contest then people like me who know nothing about dance 🕺 will continue to vote for their favourites (especially when they wear pink trousers)

I can tell if a dance ie really good or really bad, but nothing in between.

A gorgeous Rumba from Montell and Johannes.
I feel she should be in the competition next week but fear she won’t be as she has been in the dance-off so many times.

Sparklefizz Sat 30-Nov-24 19:33:54

Montell drastically under-marked by Craig. Grrr !

Calendargirl Sat 30-Nov-24 19:34:39

I liked Montell’s rumba.

Wasn’t keen on Sarah’s Charleston.

Too many other dancers, and too many lifts, although they were very daring.

Not that much Charleston to my amateur eyes.

Sparklefizz Sat 30-Nov-24 19:38:26

That Argentine Tango wasn't at all sexy in my opinion - just a bit too "wriggly" (but what do I know?)

Totally agree. Was just about to type that.

Yes, why?

I think Montell's dance was lovely.

Motsi looks lovely tonight - why on earth do the judges feel the need to dress up? It's ridiculous and demeans their position as judges.

Casdon Sat 30-Nov-24 19:42:10

None of them have really grabbed me so far tonight, although I did like Tasha’s outfit - not many people would look so good in those trousers. The music was dreary on Montell’s dance, which put me off (and I still think she’s stiff in the middle, sorry).

It was more gymnastics than dance.
imo.

Having had a great Charleston dancer and now a gymnast in the family, I think I know the difference.

Calendargirl Sat 30-Nov-24 19:43:56

Agree about Motsi, but the others look awful.

Tasha’s rumba had too many other dancers as well, distracting.

Her outfit was gorgeous, but she looked a bit half dressed,

Allira Sat 30-Nov-24 19:48:00

Well, I don't care what the judges think, I loved that, Chris and Dianne!

My kind of musical 😁

Millie22 Sat 30-Nov-24 19:49:33

It wasn't much like a Charleston. I preferred JB's.

Calendargirl Sat 30-Nov-24 19:51:45

Chris was good this week.

Sparklefizz Sat 30-Nov-24 20:00:18

Pete's dancing isn't that good but there's something about the two of them dancing - this evening I couldn't take my eyes off them.

Love that song, loved that musical and it was emotional if not technically perfect.

Sparklefizz Sat 30-Nov-24 20:03:33

There's a vulnerability about Pete. He puts on this cynical tough persona to cover it.

GrannyGravy13 Sat 30-Nov-24 20:04:51

I agree Sparklefizz just said the same to DH
