Strictly restarts this Saturday when it will be the pairing up of celebs and pros..... which may even be less cringe-making than usual. grin

I don't know many of this year's celebs, but nothing new to that, and no doubt I shall get hooked in as usual.

Why do the voting public not like Montell?
I think she looks lovely, dances beautifully and I love seeing her and Johannes, but she keeps coming back for the dance off. confusedconfused

Sparklefizz Sun 24-Nov-24 19:57:38

So Jamie goes home.

Sparklefizz Sun 24-Nov-24 19:58:46

Maybe Montell is just not very well known RosieMaw2 so doesn't have such a big fan base as other contestants.

It's strange.

I think it's because she's not as well-known as Jamie and others. More people probably watch Eastenders than watch the Olympics, sadly.
It's a popularity contest, not a dance contest.

The right decision at last. Jamie danced competently but without the flair of Montell.

Grannynannywanny Sun 24-Nov-24 20:05:06

That was a tough call but I think that was the right decision. Both couples danced really well but I think Montell and Johannes just had the edge. In fairness Pete should have been on his way home and he knew it himself. He has a huge social media following and could be there till the final.

Casdon Sun 24-Nov-24 20:11:00

Is it just me who thinks Montell is stiff in the middle? She dances well otherwise, but somehow it doesn’t jell, and I think that’s why.

Allira Sun 24-Nov-24 20:13:49

Probably.

Do you watch Eastenders by any chance?

Calendargirl Sun 24-Nov-24 20:22:36

I think Chris should have gone.

His performance was worse than Pete’s.

Sparklefizz Sun 24-Nov-24 20:27:23

I love Chris and really admire him and what he has managed to do, but I don't want to see excellent dancers going home instead. Chris has had 2 weeks when he has not been very good .... and for obvious reasons, as we all know , but ....

Now that Dianne's parents have seen her dancing with him, they have reached that particular milestone, and maybe next week he will go.

No, or Gladiators. I’m not invested in either of them, and I think Montell will go soon too.
I can’t help but feel a bit disappointed this year if two of the finalists are Tasha and Sarah though, with all that experience behind them.

Allira Sun 24-Nov-24 20:31:48

Who would you like to see?

I do like Sarah.

Housecraftandcommunitystudies Sun 24-Nov-24 20:32:10

I was looking forward to strictly do much this year but for some reason it hasn’t grabbed my fancy like it has in previous years. Don’t know why. There isn’t one couple that Im particularly drawn to. Don’t know why this year feels different.

Grannynannywanny Sun 24-Nov-24 20:32:26

I agree. Chris and Diane have been amazing. But they seem to have reached a plateau and Chris looked like he was struggling a little last night. It might be the end of the road for them next weekend.

GrannyGravy13 Sun 24-Nov-24 20:59:30

I think it’s virtually impossible to compare a blind person, someone who has no dance experience whatsoever, a boy band member who had to do dance routines, an Olympian and two people who have had dance training and danced in their occupations.

The judges and the public are not comparing like for like, it is purely a popularity contest.

Agreed, it is just so unfair.

Mollygo Sun 24-Nov-24 21:02:29

I thought Chris struggled, but next week is a different dance.
Yes GG13 I agree to a certain extent, it is a popularity contest, costumes, performance, fame outside SCD, and yes, even disabilities.

eazybee Sun 24-Nov-24 22:38:11

Montell danced well 'tonight', but she does not extend her legs or point her feet, and no -one seems to pick it up. Sorry, but although Tasha has been classed as 'perfect', to me she lacks personality; she stops dead at the footlights.

Ziggy62 Sun 24-Nov-24 22:50:07

I didn't understand how Shirley gave Chris a 9 then also gave Montell a 9.
Chris is doing amazing but no way was his performance as good as Montell this week

Charleygirl5 Sun 24-Nov-24 23:08:51

I have no idea who any of the remaining celebs are. My professional favourite is Johannes and I think he and Montell are well-matched.

I thought that Chris and Pete should have been in the dance-off.

If Strictly returns next year I think they should drop the Sunday evening nonsense and show it in one go as used to happen when it first started.

I feel the same. I have watched it, but have cheated and looked at the Strictly spoiler to see who leaves.

Cannot put my finger on what is 'off' this year, but there is something.

Sara1954 Mon 25-Nov-24 06:22:44

The way things are going, we could see at least one weak couple in the final.
Chris is amazing, can’t believe what he has achieved, but he’s never going to be able to meet the standards of the final, I really like Pete, and he has improved, but is a long way behind Tasha and Sarah.

Calendargirl Mon 25-Nov-24 07:15:36

I think it was all the stuff about Amanda Abington, Giovanni, then Grazia, all before it even started.

Then the hoo haa with Wynne and his ‘hand’.

Plus the whole show seemed to attempt a rather frantic and dogged determination to prove that actually, none of this had happened or mattered, and it was still all hunky dory and perfect, which sometimes smacks of desperation.

Having said that, I still enjoy seeing the dances, the costumes, most of the music, the judging, but it is not what it was.

Mollygo Mon 25-Nov-24 12:20:16

I record, watch the professional dance, the dances (without all the faff before and after) and the marks. I like to comment after the show about who I think will leave, but then I look at the spoiler so I don’t have to bother with the dance off.
I think the winner will be the whoever is the public’s favourite providing the judges haven’t wangled them off.

Sara1954 Mon 25-Nov-24 16:37:40

surprising how many people aren’t watching it this year year, that always used to.
