Strictly restarts this Saturday when it will be the pairing up of celebs and pros..... which may even be less cringe-making than usual. grin

I don't know many of this year's celebs, but nothing new to that, and no doubt I shall get hooked in as usual.

What an uplifting semi-final?
I voted for Chris, Tasha and my winner - J.B.

Calendargirl Sat 07-Dec-24 20:22:22

Great semi final.

More dancing, less mindless chit chat.

Dinahmo Sat 07-Dec-24 20:32:22

I voted for JB, Chris and Sarah. I hope that JB wins.He was excellent tonight

Nannee49 Sat 07-Dec-24 20:34:00

It's going to be a very tough final! I love JB but Tasha's dancing is exquisite.

ginny Sat 07-Dec-24 20:38:09

A darned sight better than either of Pete’s dances though.

Grandmadinosaur Sat 07-Dec-24 20:42:02

Yes a great semi final. My votes were for JB and 2 for Chris.

I found Sarah’s trousers distracting along with the lighting in her first dance and also Pete’s AT .

Think the dance off could be a tense one.

eazybee Sat 07-Dec-24 20:53:42

The point is, to me. out of the five contestants tonight, four of them have improved dramatically, one has stayed the same and that is Tasha, a professional dancer to begin with. Lacks personality and attack. Think she was earmarked to be the winner.

rafichagran Sat 07-Dec-24 20:59:30

JB to win for me. Chris for the final with Tasha or Sarah.
Shirley was certainly gushing over Pete.

Calendargirl Sat 07-Dec-24 21:11:43

Think it could be Pete and Sarah in the dance off.

If so, it will be bye bye Pete.

Bridie22 Sat 07-Dec-24 21:30:05

My votes 2 for Sarah and 1 for Chris, I'm hoping Sarah wins.

Some of the judges seem to like Pete and Shirley has the casting vote. I can’t call it.

As Tasha was in the dance off last week I’m guessing it will be her again, along with Pete.

Chris to win 🪩 although I want JB.

Grannynannywanny Sun 08-Dec-24 06:57:53

Another enjoyable show. Tash and Aljaz were beautiful together. Chris and Diane are an amazing partnership and what they’ve achieved together is jaw dropping. But my favourite to win is JB and Lauren.

I hope Pete is in the dance off but I’m not confident that he will be thanks to his huge online following voting for him. He has an ardent fan in Shirley who over marked him yet again last night.

Calendargirl Sun 08-Dec-24 07:31:15

No, I think if Pete is in the dance off, he will be out.

If it were he and Chris, however, not sure, but the judges would probably keep Chris.

Clawdy Sun 08-Dec-24 08:37:14

Voted for JB. Sarah is so irritating, hope she goes, but probably not.

Sara1954 Sun 08-Dec-24 08:42:03

I agree with Eazybee, Tasha hasn’t improved, she’s always been excellent, but that’s not what Strictly is all about.
For me, Tasha is probably technically perfect, but lacks something which JB and Sarah have in abundance, which to be honest is hard to describe, personality? Charisma? Enthusiasm? They just seem full of joy.

escaped Sun 08-Dec-24 09:28:54

I feel that way too, Sara1954.
Tasha dances beautifully, but for me she doesn't own the stage/floor like JB, Chris and Sarah do. She doesn't hold my attention week on week, and for me she's not particularly memorable. The fact she is a trained dancer doesn't enter into it for me, because so was Layton last year, and I thought he was best entertainment-wise. Tasha is not.

escaped Sun 08-Dec-24 09:31:12

Oops too many for me's but I'm trying to show it's how I respond to her perfect dancing!

Nannee49 Sun 08-Dec-24 10:28:11

Completely the opposite reaction to Tasha's dancing from me...I think she is very emotive & expressive, her lines are so elegant & beautiful it's a joy to watch. I think she has that eye-drawing quality that makes her stand out from the crowd but I think the fact she is a trained dancer won't do her any favours with the voters even if, to me, she's the best.

Sara1954 Sun 08-Dec-24 10:31:32

Escaped, I agree, I’m not glued to Tasha in the way I am to JB and Sarah, to be honest I don’t think any of her previous dances have stayed in my mind, I know she’s good, possibly the best, but her dancing lacks something.

Sara1954 Sun 08-Dec-24 10:36:16

I also agree that it’s nothing to do with being trained as a dancer, Leyton, last year was amazing.
I’ve always said we couldn’t be expected to watch a dozen poor dancers for twelve weeks, even if they did improve.

I agree Sara1954. People would turn off in droves if they had to watch 15 Les Dennises or Judy Murrays (sorry Les and Judy)

And Leyton didn't win because the viewers held his training against him.

I don't find Tasha exciting to watch despite her "perfection".
There's no charisma. Maybe it's Aljaz's choreography? Vito's and Lauren's choreography is outstanding and they have good celeb partners to execute it, and Dianne's teaching and training of Chris has been wonderful to behold.

I didn't like Pete to start with but his vulnerability and humility have made him very likeable in my opinion, and you can see from his dancing that he puts his heart on the line. He knows he's nowhere near the best dancer but his dancing makes me feel emotion even when he messes up the routine, whereas Tasha's dancing makes me feel nothing.

Casdon Sun 08-Dec-24 12:34:29

We all see different qualities in the way different people dance I think. I feel very ambivalent towards Sarah’s dancing, I have done from the beginning and I really don’t know why, she just doesn’t grab my heart at all (no reflection on Vito who is a very good choreographer). I do like Tasha and Aljaz, I think they dance beautifully together, though I don’t think they should win because she started with such a natural advantage. JB has been the favourite for me from week 1, his skills have probably built through the weeks the best of the dancers, and he’s seems such a happy, uncomplicated soul.

That's what makes these Strictly threads over the years so enjoyable.
Room for everyone's opinions in friendly discussion.
I agree, JB has excelled. I read somewhere his wife is a professional dancer, I think she now has her own school.

Sparklefizz Sun 08-Dec-24 19:35:54

Aaw, Chris is so emotional and it's making me tearful.
