Is anyone watching?
I never like the housemates in the first few episodes as they squeal too much, but apart from that they don't seem too bad this time.
The twist about the storage area has potential.
The girl who went in first (Rose?) is going to annoy me by keeping her mouth open in faux surprise. It's obviously fake and I want to tell her she'll catch flies if she does't close it.
Any more thoughts?
Well said Doodledog
I think my kids learned a lot from watching Big Brother before they went off to university and had to house share. When my son was at Leeds Uni he used to phone me to chat about it when it was on.One of the contestants was at the Uni and my son won an LP that he’d signed which he gave me. I remember him phoning me up to excitedly tell me. I do think the people in it in those early years were more interesting and it’s funny to think how famous Alison Hammond is now. She was evicted quite early on but I really liked her. If I remember right she broke a table.
She did, by standing on it
I enjoy watching the interaction between the contestants. I agree that the earlier shows had a wider range of people - there was more of an age range for a start, which was more interesting. These days there tend to be mainly under-30s, which is more limiting, but after a few evictions we get to know them more and they come into their own.
I am sure I've met Sarah before, but I can't think where from. She seems so familiar somehow.
I haven’t really watched Big Brother for quite a while but I think there are some interesting people in it this time. And the little bit on the side ( is that what it’s called) seems more interesting than last time I watched it. I like Rylan (who has a new travel programme coming up) but I never liked him on this.
I thought Sarah was familiar too Doodledog but then I realised that she looks quite a bit like Callie from last year.
Pretty sure that Ryan will go on Friday - he gives the impression that he couldn’t care less anyway.
Some interesting conversations going on too, hope that carries on.
Maybe it’s that, LadyGaGa. I’m sure I would be able to place her if I knew her, but I can’t.
I don’t know who I want to go out of the ones up for eviction. Dean seems like hard work, and Rosie/Baked Potato is very annoying, but it’s early days.
They are more interesting this time MayBee. I haven’t seen the other show yet - I’ll pick it up later in the series when I am more invested.
I drifted into watching it last night. I hadn’t realised it was back for a new series. I’ll dip in and out of it. I haven’t picked up on their names yet but I thought the lad who rubbed the bacon on his fingers before the dog task was smart. I was expecting he would be disqualified but he got away with it.
I hope for everyone’s sake the girl who is excitedly screaming will manage to calm herself down . She appears rather vulnerable and I think will be hurt if they comment on her behaviour. In such an enclosed space I think it’s only a matter of time till that happens.
Hi 'mental defective' here!
Nurse has loosened my straight jacket just enough to allow me to post.
I think Lily (is it Lily? the screamer) is meant to be a cross between Jade and Nikki and I suspect that although finding her alarming and annoying now that we will take her to our hearts.
Must away now - we have basket weaving this afternoon!
It's fodder for mental defectives
Good grief. That term has been offensive for decades.

Horrible, isn't it?
I shouldn't feel the need to say so, but I am marking Masters dissertations just now, and really enjoy winding down in the evening by watching to something easy and entertaining. I wonder whether the people who claim only to watch 'interlekshooal' TV need a fix of something to switch on their brains after a day of doing nothing.

At this stage I'm just trying to remember who they all are, but you could be right about that. I think the production teams are better at screening out the vulnerable than they used to be, but I'd be surprised if Lily is neurotypical. Annoying as she is, I hope she is properly supported.
Ali's hair is a lovely colour.
I'm surprised this has come back as most people consider it rubbish and offensive. I sort of watched Big Brother for the first four series as it was new and different, but then when it became full of talentless people wanting to be famous and became nastier, I gave up. Last time I watched it, there were two women screaming and swearing at each other and I vowed never to bother again and the racist thing with Jade Goody was another reason
Was there a study showing that most people consider it rubbish and offensive? I haven't seen one.
I understand that it's not everyone's cup of tea - a lot of people prefer to be spoonfed 'facts' or watch scripted drama (as do I a lot of the time) but there are others who also enjoy watching human dynamics in action, and discussing the psychology of it all (and the colour of the housemates' hair
).
There is no need to put us down with made-up comments about what 'most people' think.
Just as there is no need to put down people who prefer factual material (why “spoonfed”? Food for thought, surely?).
Big Brother isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but no need for a taste war.
I’m not watching it but I think what people choose to watch on television is purely a personal choice. There’s a lot of what I consider to be complete rubbish on television, but other people like it, so it’s up to them.

There’s not, but sometimes it does no harm for people to get a taste of their own medicine, and really I was making the point that any of us can criticise anyone else’s tastes if they want to. I did say that I watch the things I mentioned a lot of the time, so no war from me.
I find it disheartening when there’s a thread for chatting about a tv programme and posters come on specially to say they hate it/would never watch it etc. Not quite sure how they can form that opinion without ever seeing it but that’s another story.
If I saw a thread about a topic I had zero interest in I would be unlikely to read it and I certainly wouldn’t take the time to post on it to say I didn’t watch or like it 🤷♀️
I’ve noticed the same happening on the Strictly thread this year. Can we not enjoy a bit of escapism from the grim realities many of us might be facing without moaning Minnies dropping by to spoil it.
Now I’m off to hide behind the sofa 😆
No need to hide, Grannynannywanny. It's unbelievably rude, and I have no idea why people do it. It just spoils things for those who do like the various programmes, and as I tried to point out earlier, anyone's taste could be criticised if someone felt the need.
Let's ignore it.
What do people think about the first eviction? I've just watched last night's episode. I was a bit sad for him, as being first out must be a blow to the self-esteem. I wanted Rosie/Baked Potato to go because of the squealing and open mouth thing, but they are hardly valid reasons. At this stage we don't know any of them very well, so it's a bit of a lottery.
I actually missed last night’s episode but I’m going to catch up later this evening. I couldn’t avoid hearing who was evicted. Yes, it must be a blow to be first out Doodledog.
I was trying not to give too much away

Well, what do people make of the housemates now we know them better?
I have missed a few episodes this week because of work, but I am not keen on Ali (the redhead) and the way she seems to pick on Khaled, and twist what he says. She seems to use her psychologist training to do so, but she's not clever enough to do it unnoticed. I quite like Khaled, and think he was in an impossible situation concerning the extra nomination - he just couldn't win whatever he did.
I'm not sure about the dynamic between Nathan and Daze either. I'd like to have seen the unedited version of what happened in the 'vicious attack' the other night. I saw nothing vicious, but I don't know what was left out. I like Nathan more than I thought I was going to - I can see him being in the final three (a prediction which is probably the kiss of death for him
). He doesn't appear vicious at all - he doesn't need to be, as he's articulate enough to make a case reasonably. I suspect Daze could be a drama llama too, so am inclined to take N's side in this one, but of course we could be being played.
I hope Lily goes this week. Her nose-picking and general anti-social behaviour would infuriate me.
I find Daze unbearable, I could not live with her.
I liked Lily until the filthy habits came to light, we would have fallen out by now.
Not keen on Sarah.
Marcella I don't know where to begin, I once worked with someone just like him, he would make a pass at a rice pudding!
Lily seems like an overgrown toddler.
I have no idea who will go on Friday, though.
Here we go for the second eviction. . .
