I’ve been waiting for this, I really enjoyed Magpie Murders - and I loved her clothes!

merlotgran Sat 16-Nov-24 19:12:47

Looking forward to it.

Poppyred Sat 16-Nov-24 19:15:10

Oh, will give it a go.

Oldbat1 Sat 16-Nov-24 19:20:07

Yesterday I found the audiobook on BorrowBox. I am really enjoying it.

charley68 Sat 16-Nov-24 19:21:41

Me too, so looking forward to it. I listened to the audiobook from the library, read by the wonderful Lesley Manville, in the last year or so. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

I will settle down on the sofa with a glass of wine and enjoy this 🍷

Ohh I adored Magpie Murders, I watched it twice,
I adored the settings, rushing between London & Sussex, I think. The cast were fabulous too. I shall give the new series a whirl but because of my unfamiliarity with the setting of the new series
I'm not sure I will find it so engaging & compelling to watch. 🤔

I loved her car! 😎

The books are good, Anthony Horowitz has created his very own Hercule Poirot pastiche in Atticus Pund and of course Lesley Manville is in it, who is always worth watching. She must work non-stop, saw her the other evening in Mrs Harris Goes to Paris on Netflix. She's in so many things Our next Maggie Smith maybe?

mumski Sat 16-Nov-24 20:13:30

Would you have needed to have watched the Magpie Murders beforehand?

Jaxjacky Sat 16-Nov-24 20:56:41

Reading an overview, no, I don’t think so mumski

merlotgran Sat 16-Nov-24 22:21:56

Has anybody got a clue what’s going on so far? 😂

Poppyred Sat 16-Nov-24 23:10:26

Oh, not enjoying this at all…..I’m out.

henetha Sat 16-Nov-24 23:33:30

I loved it at the start, but then it became a bit convoluted...or is it me?

Charleygirl5 Sun 17-Nov-24 00:12:18

henetha my thoughts also. I did not dislike it but I still have not worked out who is who. I do like the cars. I did not see the previous series.

Mr C enjoyed it, I read my book. Often the way smile.

Gingster Sun 17-Nov-24 08:40:33

Im A bit confused with it. I watched the first episode and then the news but was too tired and muddled to watch the next episode.
I watch it again today.

I love the Suffolk connection and recognise place names .

Aveline Sun 17-Nov-24 08:43:51

I was so happy to find this on i-player. Just the sort of thing I fancy watching on a cold Autumn afternoon. Lovely smile

GrannyGravy13 Sun 17-Nov-24 08:46:28

I enjoyed the first half last night, but was too tired to watch after the news, will watch some more on iPlayer later.

Grandmabatty Sun 17-Nov-24 08:51:28

I enjoyed it immensely. I really like the moving about between plots. And Lesley Manville is superb

GeorgeKirrin Sun 17-Nov-24 08:53:43

I think it would be very confusing if you haven't watched Magpie Murders first.
Lesley Manville is a retired publisher who has gone to run a hotel in Crete with her partner. One of the authors she managed was Alan Conroy ( now deceased) who had been writing a series of books featuring a Poirot type detective Atticus Pund.
Lesley gets caught up in mdern day murders which somehow relate to stories Alan wrote. She sees the clues in the books and we have flashbacks to her conversations with Alan to try and piece it together. We also get shown scenes from the book to see what happened and how Atticus worked it out - all to help her solve the current mystery. Atticus also pops up in her imagination sometimes to give her directions.
Hope that helps a little bit but no wonder you are all confused grin

merlotgran Sun 17-Nov-24 09:34:35

I watched the first series and found that confusing as well. 😂

I’ll stick with it because I love the cars, clothes and Suffolk.

mumski Sun 17-Nov-24 10:23:33

Thank you. I'll give it a go tonight x
