Just got to have yet another thread for us to grumble about our favourite soap, warts and all.

grin

Why have they made Tracey look so plain? She was quite attractive when younger but the scriptwriters have had her turned into a frump.

BlueBelle Tue 25-Mar-25 04:12:50

You can have all those in your bus Charlie but let me have little Betsy back I have a soft spot for her but please put her mum in the bus instead There’s going to be quite a few more going in your coach over the next few months but I m saying no more or I ll get into trouble on here 🤣I hate football taking over
lasts night tv was dire (for me anyway) I simply couldn’t find a thing to watch .

Doodledog Tue 25-Mar-25 08:06:46

Thanks for not spoiling, BlueBelle.

I agree about Betsy being ok. Definitely less annoying than her mother.

Clawdy Tue 25-Mar-25 08:09:25

Please put Mary and Sean on the bus, too!

I have decided to hire a minibus for Cassie, Bobby, Betsy, Lauren, and all the boys in prison. I have now added Lou and her frightful husband Mick. He is a nasty piece of work. I am not fussed about where their one-way tickets will take them.

Please take Bobby off.
Not the best actor, but I think he does add something.

fancythat Tue 25-Mar-25 08:28:00

I think Betsy is improving too.

Charleygirl5 Tue 25-Mar-25 08:33:13

I'm sorry. I fancy that. I cannot stand the sight of him. Is he disabled in real life? He would be one of the first on my bus, followed a close second by loud-mouthed Lou and Mick.

Calendargirl Tue 25-Mar-25 09:32:38

I would also get rid of Bobby, plus Betsy, (sorry BlueBelle) I know you’re her champion.

Bobby always looks grubby and scruffy to me.

Sadly, a full bus with them waving away from the back gets more realistic with every passing episode.

I digress, but see that ‘Peter Barlow’ is to feature in a new Channel 5 drama.

He’ll need a bit of time to shake off his Corrie persona though.

Yes, the actor was born very prematurely and has cerebral palsy.

Calendargirl Tue 25-Mar-25 21:05:10

What a ridiculous episode!

I’m sure Tracey could have whacked Rob over the head when she was making the spaghetti on toast, and got the gun. Considering he was in agony, he put up a good fight against them all.

Yet another boring repeat of goings on in the STC.

And now Betsy has a shoulder wound, am sure she will recover.

Plus the ghastly new neighbours, back in the pub, never any children to look after.

BlueBelle Tue 25-Mar-25 21:07:15

I m sorry to have to say this but Corrie was really a load of total tosh tonight
Yes I do like Betsy I think she’s a good little actress and quite typical of a mixed up teen I don’t mind Bobby either He’s not much of an actor and doesn’t add much to the mix but he’s not awful there’s some a lot worse like the wooden Yazmin now moved on and the almost as wooden Craigy and the even more wooden Jack bless him

lemsip Tue 25-Mar-25 23:05:05

the actor who used to play 'peter barlow' is in a new drama called Fued coming up on channel 5.

tonights corrie was rubbish again

Calendargirl Wed 26-Mar-25 06:52:15

Yes, I mentioned that upthread Lemsip.

Calendargirl Wed 26-Mar-25 06:55:08

Also wouldn’t think a lowly DS like Kit would have been directing operations that involved a gunman and hostages.

I think a 10 year old wrote the whole sorry episode.

fancythat Wed 26-Mar-25 08:45:22

I didnt watch 5 straight episodes of it recently.

In the past, I have from time to time, not watched it for about 9 months.

Clawdy Wed 26-Mar-25 08:48:57

Last night's was ridiculous. Tracy and Carla between them could have got that gun off Rob, he was writhing in agony and even put it down once. And how on earth did Betsy get past the police cordon to get shot?

suep1953 Wed 26-Mar-25 09:30:27

Kit is a Detective Constable, it is ridiculous he was in charge last night. Lisa rang to tell him about Rob, surely she should have rung a senior officer!

Charleygirl5 Wed 26-Mar-25 10:45:24

We know more about police procedure than the scriptwriters and the new producer.

So much of it was filmed in semi-darkness that I had problems seeing the characters.

Yes, I often get confused about who is in charge between Lisa and Kit. There are too many questions.

Isn't Lisa a sergeant and Kit a DC? She seems to defer to him though. Who is in charge of the police station, and why do we never see them?

Is Craigie on holiday? He used to run the fight against cobbles crime single-handed, but now he never seems to be there.

How big is Weatherfield supposed to be? I thought it was a suburb or area of Salford. How does it have its own working police station? My town has a couple of reserved spaces for police cars on the High Street, and the old police station has been converted to apartments. It used to serve the town and surrounding villages, but now we are a satellite of the city police and there is no station for miles.

I agree that last night's episode was rubbish.

Calendargirl Wed 26-Mar-25 11:12:42

Oh, I elevated Kit to a DS. 😨

Yes, he was the DC and Lisa the DS, but for some long forgotten reason, he had a ‘hold’ over her, and after that she seemed to be his lackey.

All absolutely stupid.

Crossstitchfan Wed 26-Mar-25 11:14:54

The trouble is, we all moan about it, and we are justified, yet the scriptwriters take no notice of what we, their viewers, say! That is arrogance in the extreme. I wonder how much worse it will get before viewers really do start leaving in droves.
I am a die-hard Corrie fan, or at least I was, having watched it since the start in 1960, but even I am getting cheesed off with the sloppy storylines and the ridiculous situations. Whoever is responsible for the scriptwriters needs to sack them and employ someone who can actually do the job!

vegansrock Wed 26-Mar-25 12:19:34

So Kit is now a hostage negotiator who knew?
Did Lisa pull the trigger or was it Rob?
I’m liking Todd at the moment- will he be finding a new love interest ?

Maggiemaybe Wed 26-Mar-25 12:30:59

This must be the daftest episode ever, and it has a lot of competition. smile The youth detention story’s just depressing. As for the hostage situation, Tracey could have just bundled Carla off down the street when she knocked at the door, ringing 999 as they ran. And as others have said, there were umpteen opportunities to overpower Rob - he must be weak as a kitten. How is he even alive after his various adventures? And why was Betsy in the back ginnel?

I did enjoy the debates about Ken’s out of date tins and Deidre’s stuffed marrow though. I can imagine a similar conversation here when DH and I shuffle off our mortal coil. I think I’ve even got a dusty tin of marrowfat peas somewhere…

It’s that sort of thing and Todd’s asides that make me keep watching.

Charleygirl5 Wed 26-Mar-25 12:40:06

There appears to be a different script writer for each episode, and there is little continuity, never mind long-term planning. I am happy to offer my services for free.

My local police station was going to be the inevitable block of flats, but it is still standing and busy.

fancythat Wed 26-Mar-25 13:10:40

Soneone may have said it before, but it should change it's name to Crime Street.
