Just got to have yet another thread for us to grumble about our favourite soap, warts and all.

grin

Poor Max!

Leanne could also get the blame, as could Hope for leaving the candles burning.

LovesBach Mon 03-Feb-25 21:53:03

We will also need a police investigation into who is responsible for the mass application of chloroform to all the other residents - not one of them came out, even when the house exploded.

Grannynannywanny Mon 03-Feb-25 21:05:28

Well it’s all happening on the Street tonight. I was struggling to keep up. So we have 3 suspects in the frame for the fire raising. Abbi, Toyah and gangster guy. I hope the home insurance is up to date.

BlueBelle Mon 03-Feb-25 14:23:40

I can’t stand Bernie or her brood …..Gemma ( uggggg) Dev looks sweet but is such a dire actor it’s embarrassing to watch as is Yazmin as wooden as a clothes prop

Llamedos13 Mon 03-Feb-25 13:52:13

Avelinyour comments on Dev are too funny and always make me chuckle.Keep them coming 🤣🤣

Ilovecheese Mon 03-Feb-25 13:43:38

I too love Dev. I like him and Bernie as a couple as well.

Aveline Mon 03-Feb-25 13:34:47

What a lovely idea Doodledog. Pure bliss. One thing I might do is set up a vet practice. Peanut and little David will need treatment. Maybe I'd be better as an accountant though, the factory and the Rovers' books must be a right mess. Luckily, Audrey's seems to employ lots of top stylists despite no clients. The Bistro is obviously booming as Nick could afford to buy Leanne out instantly. I bet Roy is a secret multi millionaire!

Beechnut Mon 03-Feb-25 13:27:41

I think it’s on tomorrow night as well as tonight.

Doodledog Mon 03-Feb-25 13:02:15

He was in East Is East, which is well worth seeing.

Enjoy your planning Aveline. The Gransnet Scriptwriters could arrange a renewal of vows, so you get an offscreen honeymoon thrown in?

Charleygirl5 Mon 03-Feb-25 12:39:23

OMG, Aveline how desperate are you?

Thankfully, I have never seen Dev on any other programme, or I would have switched off.

Aveline Mon 03-Feb-25 11:39:21

Ooh now you're talking Doodledog!
Just imagine what I could get up to. I'm off to do some planning.

Doodledog Mon 03-Feb-25 09:58:06

Soz, Aveline. Part of me can understand what you see in him, but his ridiculous way of speaking would kill any attraction stone dead. His acting is awful. I’ve seen him in a couple of other things and he’s always the same, so he’s not been told that these peculiarities of speech are Dev’s idiosyncrasies at play😂

Still, every pot has a lid, and all that, so I’m guessing the field is wide open for you and the lovely Devinder. When we have the Gransnet Corrie Takeover Bid (sometime soon, I hope) we can get rid of Bernie and bring in Aveline Alahan - his bigamous wife from the pre-Sunita days.

Aveline Sun 02-Feb-25 21:29:34

Oh! My lovely Dev! How dare you malign him!

I thought those houses were two up and one down, but as you say, the rooms are expanding.

I thought last night that Ken was about to propose to that evil so and so. I cannot stand the sight of her.

Dev and Bernie are another unlikely couple, and I cannot stand Dev because he cannot act.

Not only is Dev a terrible actor, he can’t speak properly either! What with the way he camps it up, squeaks more often than not, and mumbles, I can’t understand very much of what he says. He is dreadful!

I actually enjoyed tonight’s episode. The quiz question, the trial verdict. I’m just hoping Lauren and Max will be left in peace now by the awful “in-laws” - surely Frankie’s illness is enough for them to be going on with. And dare I say I was team Kit tonight - dodgy he may be, but I much prefer him to miserable Daniel. I’m hoping Dan and whiny Bethany get back together and head off for that lovely London flat she found them after a 30 minute google. No doubt she’ll have him a new job organised within the week. It’d be a bonus if they could take Sarah Lou with them.

I agree with all you’ve said. I absolutely loathe Bethany, and I don’t just mean the character! I find the actress difficult to watch as I cringe when she manipulates her mouth in the way she does. She looks so weird! Betsy is as bad, her voice is like fingernails down a blackboard.
The new scriptwriters, obviously, are responsible for the fact it’s gone downhill, as it has only happened since there was a writer shake-up. Frankly, I think it’s past saving now!

We are all loyal fans, I was being ‘tongue-in-cheek’ with my ‘terrible’ comment, it wasn’t aimed at you. smile

We all enjoy a gripe about Corrie, but we are all stii…ill watching!

Aveline Sun 02-Feb-25 08:59:13

I never said Corrie is terrible. I'm a loyal fan.

Calendargirl Sun 02-Feb-25 07:28:47

Aveline

Oh no. Football and rugby displacing Corrie!!angry

But if it’s so terrible (Corrie), why do we mind?

grin

Better than rugby and football though.

Charleygirl5 Sat 01-Feb-25 15:11:28

If the house is set on fire deliberately and somebody inside dies, that will be murder, and we are down the police/court case route again.

They hardly get the courtroom cleaned before somebody from Corrie is a witness or on trial.

I understand about Toyah, but Abi couldnt be left to carry on as she was, keep putting her child in real danger.

Clawdy Sat 01-Feb-25 08:29:30

Yes, I noticed that look on Max's face. He'll probably start a fire not realising someone is inside!

Calendargirl Thu 30-Jan-25 11:07:38

I thought Max looked like he might be thinking about a fire.

When David mentioned it, Max’s gormless face assumed a sort of ‘Why didn’t I think of that?’ look.

I hope poor Debbie doesn’t get blamed for grassing Abi up. However, the way Abi has been lately, I don’t think she is capable of being in charge of him.

How long was he left in the car? Was it at the precinct? How far away from their house is that?

Abi needs to get some help instead of prattling on pretending to be tired all the time.

Poor Kevin needs support from her, not the other way around.

LovesBach Thu 30-Jan-25 10:05:12

Given the discussion last night, I am waiting for David to set fire to, or blow up, the house, as a method of getting money. Then the insurance company will refuse to pay out. Anyone else thinking this?

Doodledog Thu 30-Jan-25 09:51:24

Yes, Toyah is becoming insufferable isn’t she? Leanne is behaving badly but her sister has gone off with her husband, is living in her home and has all but adopted her ‘son’; yet is taking the moral high ground.

I absolutely agree that the gangsters should get the boot from soaps. They are supposed to be domestic dramas, but lately Corrie has felt more like a police series.
