Just got to have yet another thread for us to grumble about our favourite soap, warts and all.

The prison scene was dire. I will soon lose track of the number of court cases waiting in the wings. Where do they all find the money to hire Adam or is it "no win no fee?"

Beechnut Tue 14-Jan-25 11:23:47

Thank you Calendargirl.

Beechnut

How did Carla come to lose her original kidneys please?

I think she just got kidney disease.

How did Carla come to lose her original kidneys please?

Clawdy Tue 14-Jan-25 08:17:22

Yes, as if Rob would be allowed anywhere near Matty after that major incident. And as if Matty would agree to do it!

Sarnia Tue 14-Jan-25 08:16:32

I had my hopes raised with the episode where Mason was stabbed. It was well scripted and acted but now we are back to rubbish again.
When Logan was waiting in the visiting room I wondered if his visitor may have been his brother. Crazy, I know, but nothing surprises me anymore.
The courts could save some money by holding their cases in Roy's Rolls, the Bistro, Speed Dahl or the Rovers because that's where they are discussed with anyone within earshot listening in.

Calendargirl Tue 14-Jan-25 07:39:40

Why oh why are we revisiting Carla needing yet another kidney transplant?

Plus refusing Rob’s if he were the last man standing.

Well, for a start, surely they need to check if he would be a suitable donor. No use getting worked up about it if he isn’t.

And of course, Alya (aka Perry Mason) sitting with her boss openly discussing Matty’s court case in Speed Dahl or wherever. And Adam offering to have a chat with Dylan about his in the cafe or similar.

Why not just set up in the Street and invite everyone to listen?

BlueBelle Tue 14-Jan-25 07:14:08

vegansrock it was awful wasn’t it? Like Keystone cops really farcical the writers really need to up their game big time

vegansrock Tue 14-Jan-25 07:05:42

Dreadful episode. The prison hostage taking was farcical. One minute Bobby taken hostage, next at Carla’s bedside, no police interviews. Rob finding god, then it seems it’s all a front. As if they’d have Rob and Matty in same prison or cell. Ridiculous.

Calendargirl Sun 12-Jan-25 18:19:00

Sounds like Bobby would be better sticking to game shows,

He might be clever but his acting is poor.

BlueBelle Sun 12-Jan-25 18:13:54

Sorry didn’t see your post dotty well at least we agree 😀

BlueBelle Sun 12-Jan-25 18:13:04

Did anyone see Bobby on The Chase the other night He was very personable and extremely quick and clever with the answers Very bright young g man and nothing like his character

Charleygirl5 Sun 12-Jan-25 12:59:39

I saw it briefly and thought I had seen him somewhere before!

Dottydots Sun 12-Jan-25 11:45:44

I watched The Chase game show yesterday, it may have been a repeat. Jack Carroll, who plays Bobby, was a contestant. He helped his team win money for charity. My word he is clever. I was cheering him on.

Charleygirl5 Sun 12-Jan-25 11:44:37

I think he is in his late 8o's in Corrie but is 92 in real life. A fair age to be working anywhere.

LovesBach Sun 12-Jan-25 10:16:44

Ken seems to have slowed and become quite frail; at his age it's no surprise, but perhaps he intends to hang on as long as possible to be the first soap actor to reach 100 and still be working. If the newspapers are to be believed (!) he isn't particularly wealthy, as he has had some financial disasters along the way.

Calendargirl Sun 12-Jan-25 08:22:38

Ken is apparently earning £1/4 million.

Perhaps being paid that amount, not sure with his limited screen time he is earning it.

Charleygirl5 Sat 11-Jan-25 18:08:22

BlueBelle I do not know, but it would not surprise me if they were being thrown out before the ship sank.

As we have said before, we need new writers, not eliminate many who have been there for years. Ken is apparently earning £1/4 million. I am not surprised he wants to stay until he is 100 in real life.

I cringe every time Dev opens his mouth.

Aveline Sat 11-Jan-25 17:20:19

Dev is not rotten just a bit peculiar. I've loved him since he first appeared. Before him I was devoted to Des Barnes.

BlueBelle Sat 11-Jan-25 16:48:35

Oh I m sorry Avaline I think Dev is quite cute but his acting is really dreadful also Yazmin who ias wooden as a clothes prop
There are a lot leaving (I won’t say more) but I wonder what’s happening are they leaving a sinking ship or getting the push

Charleygirl5 Sat 11-Jan-25 16:39:07

OMG Aveline do I feel desperation creeping in? I cannot stand him. What has happened to Billy and Summer? Have they both left? I appear to blink too much and miss important parts.

Aveline Sat 11-Jan-25 16:02:16

I don't think Dev is badly acted. He has a rather idiosyncratic way of talking with stress on odd words and a voice that goes unexpectedly high pitched at times. Bernie isn't right for him at all. I am!!

Doodledog Sat 11-Jan-25 14:54:20

Todd went off to study law when he came out as gay, I think.

I agree about Dev and Bernie being an unlikely couple, and about Dev being very badly acted (as is Yasmeen's character).

New families are usually dreadful but get toned down very quickly until they become 'much loved characters'.

I hope Dylan is ok. Of course he shouldn't have had the knife, but he's misguided, not bad, and prison would be the wrong place for him.

Aveline Sat 11-Jan-25 13:28:57

Yes PTSD.
I remember Todd working in some legal capacity at one point. Dahn Saaf somewhere.
