Resources for advice on giving up
Just got to have yet another thread for us to grumble about our favourite soap, warts and all.
She hasn’t mentioned how she is paying the fees, she must have got a student loan really quickly, plus most uni courses start in October strange she is starting in January.
A full law degree, minus the cost of books and accommodation, is around £30K. As far as I know, one must have the correct qualifications to be considered.
Glasses + new accommodation + fees, even if paying for the course gradually, is a stretch of the imagination when one is earning zilch. Her state pension must be vastly different from mine and is very elastic.
Is Betsy pregnant, have I missed something?
I’m pleased they have shown that older people can still study though. I realise that people’s hopes of instant gratification might be dashed, and that someone with no qualifications is unlikely to get into a degree course with no experience or access course, but mature students can still study many subjects and get a lot out of it, even if it doesn’t lead to a glittering career.
Evelyn will qualify in next to no time and be the next ''top lawyer'' living in Coronation Street.
An instant barrister is her next step. You read it first on here.
I doubt he would get a prison sentence
Well, he might, as every other resident of Corrie has enjoyed time ‘in jail’.
Gemma was worried a while ago that she would end up being imprisoned for shoplifting! Seeing as the police don’t even attend for such misdemeanours nowadays, that was hardly likely.
Plus Keir Starmer is still struggling to accommodate all those who require HMP.
Dylan just lies all the time, he never learns that honesty is maybe the best policy. No wonder the police find it hard to believe him.
No doubt we will be having another one night stand pregnancy to look forward to (Betsy and Mason?)
Dylan may be hating his Dad just at this moment but Sean did the only thing he could by informing the Police. Dylan may have not stabbed Mason but he deliberately took a bladed weapon with him and there will be some repercussion for that. I doubt he would get a prison sentence but he will end up with a criminal record at the very least.
Hope doesn't tread the straight and narrow for long. When her and Joseph were being chastised, he looked genuinely upset while Hope has that 'so what' look in her eye.
University processes have speeded up. It usually took around a year from applying to moving into Halls but Evelyn has managed it in a matter of days.
Agree with you Grannynannywanny. Absolutely ridiculous. No way could this happen in that time frame. What about funding? How is she going to pay for the Halls of Residence and all those books she has to read. She hasn’t got a job now so where is it coming from? Soaps are wonderful fantasies.
Evelyn’s storyline couldn’t be any more ridiculous. She applied for university, had an interview within a couple of days and a phone call later that day to offer her a place for a course that starts next week. Now she’s going ask for a room in the halls of residence 😆
Surely if she needs time off to concentrate on other roles the scriptwriters could have come up with something a little more believable to explain her absence .
Why is Bernie knocking back vodka and lemonades in the Rovers when she could help herself to a bottle from Dev’s shop and drink at home?
No wonder she’s hard up!
Abbie’s scrambled eggs would not have been very filling, just two for the two of them.
🥚🥚
Also - how did Evelyn get a pair of bifocals made up since she was old about her place at university? The NHS, the police, and now Specsavers all have Coronation Street fast tracks.
I don't want to be a grouch, and I know it's tempting to repeat what we read, but I try hard to avoid finding out as much as possible in advance.
Anyway, this episode is turning into An Inspector Calls
. I know they want to show the issues, how many people are affected by knife crime, and how all sorts of things can contribute to a single event, but they are overdoing it, I think.
Sorry about the “spoilers” - I just repeating what I read in a free newspaper - hard to avoid - that lots of characters were leaving. Let’s hope some of them are just rumours.
Pretty certain Kirk and Sean are not leaving.
Many of us enjoy seeing the show
Weeelll, we like coming on here to gripe about it, but I know what you mean….
We would miss it if it went, warts and all.
Please. No spoilers.
Many of us enjoy seeing the show as the stories unfold, and knowing who is leaving ruins that. It can be difficult to avoid finding out sometimes, but it would be good if we could read this thread safe in the knowledge that we won't have our enjoyment of the show spoilt.
Lots of actors are leaving Corrie if the rumours are to be believed. Craig, Daisy, Sean, Kirk amongst them .
Lona
My step grandson played the part of Mason, we were all in tears watching last night’s episode. I had to remind myself that it wasn’t real 🥲😂
Congratulations he was completely believable, great performance, so moving...
Just to add although we are all sad to see him go maybe for him it ll be the best move, some actors get stuck in Corrie or other soaps for years and years and years ‘Mason’ will surely go on to other great roles
Good luck to him for sure
Well Lona we were very sorry to see him go. My dh and I both agreed that he was one of the best characters in the series. We hope he goes onto a great career.
Wow Lona he was brilliant. I hope he goes far.
Thank you all for your kind words re “Mason”, we are very proud of him, it was his first proper acting role.
Oh well done Lona the lad did good
He had me in tears for most of the programme, good actor, he ll go far
I also think Betsy ( although some of you can’t stand her) is a great actor and shows a lot of the Sass that young teen girls have
I know Sam is deemed the ‘main’ child actor but I get really fed up with his little whispery sentences and I don’t rate Liam at all bless him, as wooden as a tree as is Jack
A paramedic would never inform somebody a relative had just died.
I agree, Asha appeared to be in charge.
So many people are leaving Corrie voluntarily or otherwise. May I nominate Cassie for the top spot?
In RL, she is on holiday somewhere, and with luck, she will stay there.
Alot of people rubbish but the acting is outstanding My friend watches detective s and some are rubbish and very poor acting everyone to their but I like soaps
