Camilla, the Wicked Stepmother?

I watched this on Channel 4, but it was mostly a rehash of what has gone before. What did amuse me was Harry up there on the moral high ground about members of his family ( Camilla, we are to assume) getting ‘into bed with the devil’ and briefing the tabloids, when his mother was the biggest manipulator of the press ever!

Really, you have no problem with women who harmed because they don’t harm you or yours ? I do find liars difficult
and poor woman certainly lied.

RosiesMaw
The rest of the rant about Camilla is the usual same old same old.

So, may I ask how you got the information that he told her he didn’t love her the night before the wedding?

Good question. Maybe the poster was there or in the usual fashion knows someone who was there.

I've more problem with the men, and the harm they did.
Nobody twisted their little arms to make them play away.

They were all playing away.

My sympathy is with the wives , I really cannot understand how a woman can speak of the hurt she suffered when her
husband had an affair yet play a part in inflicting that hurt on
another woman. James Gilbey and James Hewitt were not married

MissAdventure Thu 28-Nov-24 15:10:22

As I said, it didn't impact me.
Given Diana's age, and her frailty, I suppose you'd call it, I rather saw her as a victim.

There will always be men willing to take advantage.

Allira Thu 28-Nov-24 15:11:36

frailty?

MissAdventure Thu 28-Nov-24 15:12:05

Yes, I'd call it that.

I still think of Camilla as the other woman with a crown on her head and very hard to think of her as Queen. Having had a marriage breakdown due to adultery it really rattles very hard indeed with me. Maybe time I moved on I know.

Anniebach Thu 28-Nov-24 15:28:46

Sadly many innocent people are hurt by people with frailties ,
she hurt many people but that’s life

MissAdventure Thu 28-Nov-24 15:31:43

Hurt people hurt people, as the quote says, and yes, there are an awful lot of us/them around.

It must bring painful memories, I am so sorry,

Ooh that is a bit mean.

Romola Thu 28-Nov-24 16:20:39

Diana was a lamb to the slaughter, conned by "The Firm". Her life and death were truly tragic.
Of course, Charles should have been allowed to marry Camilla in the first place. Then we'd have been spared the unsavoury details of their adulterous affair.
Thank goodness the royal family learned its lesson and welcomed Catherine Middleton as Prince William's wife.

Etoile2701 Thu 28-Nov-24 16:21:38

I agree.

Anniebach Thu 28-Nov-24 16:37:05

Diana was welcomed , she grew up with the royal family,

Charles is an over thinker/philosophiser, and I think when he threw out “Whatever love means?” on the spur of the moment, it was as if he was asking the interviewer for an intellectual discussion on the nature of the state of being in love.

It came back to bite him in a big way, as we know…

hollysteers Thu 28-Nov-24 16:49:02

Whatever in love means🙄

Anniebach Thu 28-Nov-24 17:02:04

When asked about his relationship with Camilla he could have said much but chose - non negotiable

Diplomat Thu 28-Nov-24 20:17:08

I am and always will be in the Diana camp.

Allira Thu 28-Nov-24 20:24:26

camp ?

I'm not in anyone's camp
I did feel sorry for both of them, I think they both tried, it didn't work out. They moved on.
All in the glare of publicity.

Ilovedogs22 Thu 28-Nov-24 20:52:33

Well from what I can see of Camilla,
I really warm to her. Her eyes twinkle, she smiles easily & she laughs freely. I think she's very attractive and a great asset to the UK.
Ps, I'm not Royalist but Camilla is an asset to them for sure. 🙃

Ohhh that's not very diplomatic Diplomat! 😁

Charles’ reply “Whatever in love means?” would suggest to me that he had not really been in love with Camilla, Diana or anyone else.

If you have been in love, you know it.

Anniebach Fri 29-Nov-24 08:56:07

Where would he burst out with - I am in love ?
