Well, 🤔 it’s all subjective isn’t it? Out of all the programmes you list I only have watched the first two😄
High viewing figures or no I tend to stick to Netflix or Amazon Prime or Sky.

So you don’t think having eight out of ten of the top 10 most viewed programmes on Christmas Day and smashing the viewer number record is an achievement Oreo. Fair enough.

Gin Thu 26-Dec-24 17:05:53

Oreo not everyone can afford all the other channels as well as BBC. I only have Netflix and rarely watch, always find something on the Beeb. We all have varied taste! So far I have watched very little TV just W&G but was not much entertained.

My favourite channels are BBC, ITV and Ch4. Currently I’m paying for Ad free on both but I’ll get rid of it on one of the channels soon. I’ve not found a great deal to watch on Prime, Netflix, Now etc. Too much USA stuff and2nd rate films. I only keep Prime as it’s handy for postage and fast delivery.

Anyway well done BBC. I’m very happy to continue to pay my TV licence and I’m looking forward to new drama in 2025.

MissAdventure Thu 26-Dec-24 17:11:40

I only have free view as I live within my means. smile

I wouldn't want anyone to question how I could afford sky, and all that jazz.

paddyann54 Thu 26-Dec-24 17:12:02

I don’t watch theBBC….or as it’s known by many here the EBC it tends to cater for the English public..mindyouSTVisvery imitation they now show lower league football matcheinEngland and no Scottish matches played at the same time We watch Netflix and prime and sky.I,ve never w@t he’d a royal broadcast or event in my life and won’t start now with Charlie

Redhead56 Thu 26-Dec-24 17:15:11

I’m not remotely interested in the Christmas specials really each to their own though and enjoy🎄

Well, Gavin and Stacey isn't entirely set in England with English actors! 😁

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Thu 26-Dec-24 17:21:56

I loved Gavin & Stacey so much I’m about to watch it again tonight!

Allira Thu 26-Dec-24 17:24:07

I've seen a few BBC programmes set in Scotland with Scottish actors. 🤔

Skydancer Thu 26-Dec-24 17:50:13

I wouldn’t watch anything on that list. But there is some great stuff on iplayer.

It was filmed in Wales

Louella12 Thu 26-Dec-24 18:41:11

I don't watch anything on that list. In fact the BBC is of no interest to me now. Trying very hard to think of one thing I might have watched recently on there but I can't.

We watch the most amazing shows/dramas/documentaries on streaming services.

Lathyrus3 Thu 26-Dec-24 18:44:24

I recorded Wallace and Grommit. Otherwise nothing of interest.

I don’t think the BBC caters for a wide audience with a variety of programmes. It mostly aims at one demographic.

Witzend Thu 26-Dec-24 18:51:46

I recorded a couple of Beeb offerings for the Gdcs, one of which kept them quiet later in the day.
Later tonight we’ll watch the ghost story I recorded on Christmas Eve. Last year’s - The Mezzotint - was brilliant.

We all watched Wallace and Gromit yesterday, and today I found on iplayer 2 more W&Gs for my sister who’s lived across the pond for many years, had never seen any W&G before, and found it extremely funny.

That’s an interesting comment Lathyrus3, what demographic do you think the BBC is aiming at?

Lathyrus3 Thu 26-Dec-24 19:10:45

People who like game shows and soaps. There doesn’t seem to be much else ☹️

Jaxjacky Thu 26-Dec-24 19:12:32

We, MrJ and I watched the top two, midwife and Dr Who, well done the beeb

JamesandJon33 Thu 26-Dec-24 19:17:23

Well we only watched one of those ….The King..

escaped Thu 26-Dec-24 19:19:55

Looking forward to tonight:

Call the midwife
Eastenders
Outnumbered
And Patrick Swayze just after midnight

Casdon Thu 26-Dec-24 19:21:18

If you look at the Top 10 list, I’ve categorised it:

Gavin & Stacey -comedy (adult)
Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl - comedy (family)
The King - goes without saying, Christmas tradition
Call the Midwife - drama (adult)
EastEnders - soap opera
Doctor Who - drama (family)
Strictly Come Dancing 4.05m - entertainment (family)
EastEnders 3.98m - soap opera
Tiddler 3.23m - animation (children)
The Weakest Link 3.05m - game show

I think most genres were covered in the top 10, given these were the most popular live viewings, most people would enjoy at least one of them (including the Scot’s paddyann54, for whom BBC is still the most popular channel too).

Well, apparently the lowest common denominator watch Gavin and Stacey.

They might also watch Only Connect, Mastermind and University Challenge and know the answers so in which category do they fit? confused

Allira Thu 26-Dec-24 20:44:26

Outnumbered
Can't wait!
