Anyone watching this ?
I really enjoy this programme and I m looking forward to this new series
Did it come up to your expectations last night, a little twist at the beginning getting some folk off the train but will they be back??
Have they chosen the right traitors ? I am just trying to get the various names in my head I saw Linda’s reaction on Claudia’s word ‘Traitors’ and thought, ‘ah ha’ but didn’t realise it had been seen by any of the others (but it had)

It’s compulsive viewing but am I the only one who thinks the prize money is far too high. The programme is all about screwing over the other contestants to get to the prize money at the end.
At the beginning of this series some of the contestants were asked how they’d like to spend it if they won this ‘life changing’ amount - one person said they’d use it to fund IVF treatment 😳.
If I remember rightly in series two there was just one winner who took the lot by gaining the trust of all the other contestants. I know it’s only a game but it all seemed a bit sad to me when the prize is so large - but like every one else I can’t still watching, it’s like watching a car crash.

The prize money has to be large enough for competitors to climb over each other to get it.
It's not that high either compared to various TV shows

I m another who can’t wait for Linda to go I think the other traitor Minah is quite astute
Armani was destined to go …far too loud, forceful and talkative I felt for her sister last night she was between the devil and the dark blue sea
It’s very very addictive isn’t it ?

Love it! Yes the 3 leavers from the beginning are definitely on the way back I think. The masked passengers in the carriage. So hard on the people who "sacrificed" themselves on the rafts as one of them will be murdered. I think that the participants are going to have a discussion as to what their strategy will be in the future as I'm sure more volunteers will be needed to become the "sacrificial lambs"

J52 Sat 04-Jan-25 13:38:40

It is interesting watching the contestants strategies. I certainly couldn’t understand why those on the rafts didn’t figure out that they would be doomed!

I feel like a grumpy old lady. I am reluctant to watch a program that sensationalises liars. I know it is just a bit of fun and it is not real (accept to those contestants who get caught up in the game). But it just rings alarm bells as to which direction society is moving.

The prize money has to be tempting or why bother. I find it a fascinating insight into how people form their opinions and act on what they believe to be true. One person identifies a traitor and gives reasons. The others quickly jump on the bandwagon and with no critical thinking at all vote someone off. It is really quite random whether or not the evicted one actually is a traitor. Watching this programme is making me have second thoughts about how I form my own judgements on a whole range of issues.

It’s not only a good ‘watch’ but fascinating from a psychological viewpoint and makes you wonder how you would play this game. Why would the first three contestants sacrifice themselves from the train? Did they have any prior knowledge that they would be back in the game later on? If not why on earth would anyone choose to leave at that point?
Why did the contestants on the lake sacrifice themselves while others sat tight?

Delighted that Armani has gone, and hopefully the next one will be Linda. I really like Kaz and hope he’s not voted off. A bit weary of the squealing, tears and shallow hugs and ‘love yous’! 🥱

Yeah, am forced to agree with you 😁

Have you watched it? It's not just about sensationalising liars. It's about sussing them out, and really the only lies that are told are if someone is accused of being a traitor and they deny it. Otherwise, it is far more about strategy and keeping a poker face.

I enjoy programmes like this (and Bg Brother) as they showcase human behaviour. I don't think that people can hide their true selves for very long, and because we know what the aim is we can see the games they play.

I find it interesting to consider how I would react if I were doing it. I know I would be terrible at this one, as I trust people far too easily. I might be better at Big Brother, but I would get very anxious about being watched all the time. I really need time to myself now and then, and hate being supervised, so the cameras would get to me very quickly. In both cases I would want to kill the screamers, too.

History is littered with liars whose only interest is self gain. Unfortunately, not a lot has changed.

BlueBelle Sat 04-Jan-25 14:42:21

But it’s not real life VeeScot it’s a game of strategy and it’s interesting to see human interaction also how do any of us know how we would act in a snap decision
If you watch a game of chess or any game where they feign a move to make their move it’s lying isn’t it ?

Cateq Sat 04-Jan-25 14:52:29

Never thought I’d like this show, as never watched the first two series, and I don’t normally like reality tv shows. But watching the manipulation can be fascinating.

Emerald888 Sat 04-Jan-25 15:02:21

I watched the American series first just to see what John Bercow would be like. Missed first couple of episodes. Was full of people from US reality shows like Real housewives of Atlanta, The Bachelor and many others. Soon got hooked.
Don't find this series as interesting as not many older or mature contestsnts. Very shallow people. In last night's episode it was a struggle to get any to volunteer to be left off a boat during a task to achieve the aims of the mission: fuel and money. Don't want them to win!

Shazmo24 Sat 04-Jan-25 15:05:19

I enjoy it from the phycological point of view. How people can brig doubts into people's mind and they then become like sheep

knspol Sat 04-Jan-25 15:06:10

Never watched this, think I'll give it a try.

It’s hardly a bit of fun when the prize money is so high. I think around £10k would be enough of an incentive for most people after all they’re already getting a free holiday in a luxury hotel. Then there’s the TV exposure they’re getting - I get the feeling a lot of the contestants are aspiring to get into the media industry.

Doodledog Sat 04-Jan-25 15:17:42

£10k wouldn't tempt me. They might have to give up jobs to do it, and even without actual fame they will always be 'that woman who was on Traitors and did XYX' in their home town. There'd have to be a good incentive to out yourself through that. It's not exactly a free luxury holiday, either grin. They are dragged away to do strenuous tasks and to have very awkward conversations around the table.

The prize isn't particularly high anyway. By the end it has always been eroded from the original £120k, the odds are 25-1 against winning anything, and if you do get to the final there is a good chance that the money will have to be shared.

TiggyW Sat 04-Jan-25 15:23:49

I love the psychological aspect of The Traitors. I know it’s based on lying, but as someone else said, many board games are based on similar strategies.
I’m glad Armani has gone (never heard of that name before) - she was too big for her boots! Minah is playing the game well, staying under the radar and voting Armani out!
There should be more age difference between the contestants - most of the men seem to be around a certain age. There are lots of twenty something females and just the two over 60s.
I’m sure they must be told to scream and shout - they behave like big kids!🙄 I know they’re under pressure, but that’s ridiculous.
I reckon the three who left the train may return later - it’s happened before.
I like the ‘Barbie’ ex-soldier - I’d like her to do well. Jake’s a bit of a moaner - he’s expecting fairness! He must have known what he’d signed up for! Looking forward to the next episode…

The foolish got off the boat, the ones with the greatest drive to win stayed on.

I hate reality TV but have watched and lived Traitors from the very start.
I like the new twists in this series but am struggling to take to many of the players. Too much bursting into tears at the drop of a hat and, as many have said the childish squealing is off putting. I think Mynah is a good player and may well vote Linda out before she gives the game away. I like Kaz and can't understand why so many are voting for him to leave.

w1u7 Sat 04-Jan-25 18:59:17

VeeScott don't watch it then. I love it. It's only a game. Also the contestants are fascinating. This year we have a doctor,a soldier and a priest.

singingnutty Sat 04-Jan-25 19:29:15

I'm so pleased to find this thread. I am watching this series not having watched the previous ones and am really enjoying it. OH said he didn't want to watch it so I offered to go into another room and watch. He said I didn't need to do that and he would read his book but I think not a lot of it got read. However, I can't yet discuss it with him because he will claim not to be interested! I was so pleased when Armani was voted out - she was very annoying. What will happen when Charlotte forgets to use her Welsh accent I wonder? Will anyone notice? Soldier posing as Barbie is a brilliant idea. What will the priest say when asked what her job is?

Dianehillbilly1957 Sat 04-Jan-25 20:14:49

My family live a mile or so from the castle as did I for several years and now 45 minutes away and have friends that work there. So I watch it to see and recognise lots of the locations. I definitely agree with the comments about the sensless screeching and childish behaviour, has driven me mad! Hopefully things will settle down! Claudia on the other hand visted the primary school much to the excitement of my grandchildren and was utterly lovely. Will still watch as you get dragged into it!!

Tish Sat 04-Jan-25 21:08:44

Sorry I just don’t “get” this programme at all…
