Bea65 Fri 03-Jan-25 21:14:02

Gosh my dictation on microphone … 🤣 lovely documentary!

mokryna Fri 03-Jan-25 22:59:42

It was pleasant to watch, however, I was a bit disappointed as I thought they would show extracts from a good selection of past episodes.

Maybe as there were 56 of them- couldn’t decide… Brenda seems so nice and warm off screen - and I so liked her character on screen …no nonsense straight talking northern lass …did they call her huffy

Yes so did I. Unlike the behind the scenes tributes to Endeavour and Midsomer Murders they just focused on the last two episodes.

Where was the lovely Aiden?

Calendargirl Sat 04-Jan-25 07:21:04

I preferred Aiden to miserable Joe.

I think he must have been in as many, if not more, series.

Did David Leon find the new roles didn’t materialise, hence the comeback?

David49 Sat 04-Jan-25 07:25:41

All good things come to an end, we do have over 50 episodes to look forward to as repeats. There is so much trash on TV currently that repeats of old series are the best viewing.

Charleygirl5 Sat 04-Jan-25 07:34:39

I would be happy if the repeats started from the beginning rather than random episodes.

Brenda Blethyn is local to me She is a lovely woman who is supportive of local charities a lives a very low key life.

I shall miss VERA. It was a good steady programme. Brenda Blethyn looked very attractive when not being VERA anymore and came across as a pleasant normal person.

Smileless2012 Sat 04-Jan-25 12:14:41

Well I've decided to watch them all again from the beginning. I'm a fan of Brenda Blethyn which is why I started to watch it.

Did anyone know that she's 78shock.

I’ve just watched the tribute programme. I enjoyed Vera, as some of my family lived in Northumberland and I liked spotting familiar scenes.
I wonder if they’ll do a young Vera series, a bit like they did with Morse.

rafichagran Sat 04-Jan-25 22:23:53

I really enjoyed it. I love watching Vera.

That sounds a great idea, J52

Clawdy Mon 06-Jan-25 08:40:10

Sorry, meant the message about a series about a young Vera!

loopyloo Mon 06-Jan-25 08:43:30

Yes but I was thinking why did she hand in her notice and was able to leave immediately. Shouldn't she have had to work her notice?

Susie42 Mon 06-Jan-25 13:12:44

It’s not necessary to work out notice providing both parties agree but, depending on the circumstances, pay in lieu of notice does not always have to be paid.

Allsorts Mon 06-Jan-25 19:19:30

I cried my eyes out at the loneliness of Vera, was so glad to see her at the end with the dog that adopted her.

Yes David, I watch Vera on the Itvx thingy.
Repeats are still better than any of the new stuff on the telly now.🤔

Whilst we're talking about Vera etal
Can I give a big mention to Pathologist 'Malcom'. Who has been my not so secret crush for a number of months. Paul Kaye you were by far the best 'Pathologist'. 👌

Auntieflo Tue 07-Jan-25 08:37:55

Ilovedogs22, thanks for mentioning Malcolm, I wondered why nobody else did?

*Ilovedogs22*, thanks for mentioning Malcolm, I wondered why nobody else did?

Hi Auntieflo, ref: Malcom mention.
Two things about lovely Malcom, I thought that not only was he tall & coldly sexy with rather saucy twinkling eyes ( that made my knees weak!!!). He was by far the most intriguing pathologist. Very reserved yet he could be slightly flirty with Vera at times! I loved the way he looked at her or offered her a sweet or some- such thing. I was fascinated by their complex interactions but manly I just liked looking at Paul Kaye for my own delictation. 😉

Auntieflo Tue 07-Jan-25 13:55:54

Ilovedogs 😉
