I found it interesting, especially hearing the actors speaking as themselves rather than in character. I enjoyed the final episode because it rang true to form - so "typically Vera" to just quietly slope off by herself (and it NOT be portrayed as a heartbreakingly lonely thing to do). I can't stand end-of-series episodes which end with the writers explaining what's happening to the characters by giving each of them a little tagged-on "after-story". Vera just left, end of. Everyone else just carried on, business-as-before. The writers resisted making everyone act out of character simply for a Big Ending.

I preferred Aiden to miserable Joe.

I think he must have been in as many, if not more, series.

Did David Leon find the new roles didn’t materialise, hence the comeback?

Oh yes! David Leon. I found his character charmless, rude, arrogant & snippy. Also, I couldn't stand his drippy, soppy, simpering bl**dy wife. Her voice, her needyness
( "Oh come fur denner Vera pet.") Oh why, why should she?
I' run away from people like her or make a French exit!
Aiden was, by a county mile a much better side-kick for Vera.
Joe however, behaved in such a patronising, misogynistic way towards wonderful Vera, he completely undervalued her & constantly tried to undermine her but failed completely!
(Was he even bloomin acting?????)
Simply making himself look like a weedy, needy little first-class creep & tosser. Ps, I still love Malcolm, a bit too much really. 😊
