Back in the '70s, if we invited people round, or were invited to friends' houses, the ladies always used to get dressed up to the nines - long dresses etc like Beverley. Happy days.

Is certainly an iconic piece of television history. I watched it when it first aired and thought it was the most hilarious thing I had ever seen, I think there has been a remake but the 1977 version is by far the best.

I like Demis Roussos, Ange likes Demis Roussos, Tone likes Demis Roussos and Sue would like to hear Demis Roussos. So Laurence, could we have some Demis Roussos on please? 😂

It is quite dark, but very well acted, darkly comic and, yes, a tad disturbing. I love it

I saw this on stage locally a couple of months ago.

When I saw the original i didn't like it, wonder if i would now.

I absolutely love the woman who plays Ange.
The whole thing is excruciatingly funny.

From some of your remarks I hardly recognise what I remember from Abigail’s Party that I saw back in the day and also recently.
I found it really dark and quite upsetting. Yes some was funny but there is an undercurrent to it that I found disturbing.

It was definitely dark humour mixed with harsh realism and a pointed look at suburbia. Fantastic acting and a really interesting plot. I enjoyed it immensely

I saw it when it was first on tv. I lived in a student house at the time and we all thought it was fantastic, it was all we could talk about for days. I've watched it several times since and still feel that slight thrill of something a bit edgy and different.

I remember seeing it when it was first aired and talking about it with people at work for days! Was so clever at the time, and have seen if a few times since.
