Joanna Page's Wild Life.

What could have been an interesting series from a wildlife rescue centre has been absolutely spoilt for me by the baby-voiced prattling Joanna.
She was specifically asked not to talk or interact with the birds and animals, nor to name them, but did the opposite and never shut up! She was supposed to be helping the staff but was useless! She was child-like and scared of everything she was asked to do, couldn't cut up a dead chick as food or catch an aviary bird without ducking away.
I have watched the first 3 episodes of 15, but can't bear to continue! Anyone else feel the same?

Agree. Though I felt a bit guilty for feeling niggled by her. I'm sure she's a lovely person who genuinely loves wildlife but her constant childish prattle drove me slightly round the bend. As she thinks this would have been a second choice career to acting, all I can say is "carry on acting"!

Couldn't watch tonight. Sugary, giggling whispering drove me up the proverbial. Sure she's lovely, but....

Having seen what fellow cast members on Gavin & Stacey said (affectionately) about her over-excited, impulsive behaviour, as soon as I saw the trailers for this, I guessed what it might be like and decided not to watch. Seems I was right.

I have seen her interviewed and she is always over-excited, giggling and in my view irritating and annoying. I could never watch anything with her in it.

MissAdventure Thu 09-Jan-25 20:52:58

I don't know who she is, but grown women behaving like children really, really annoys me, so it's probably just as well.

I saw this for the first time this week.I switched off after 10 minutes as I could not stand her little girl voice

MissAdventure Thu 09-Jan-25 21:01:21

It's a shame, as I really like wildlife programmes.

FlitterMouse Thu 09-Jan-25 22:54:33

She's Stacey in Gavin & Stacey.

I'd like to watch wildlife programmes especially Springwatch. I often think Chris Packham is trying hard not to be irritated with Michaela Strachan who can be exciteable and a bit silly. I have a feeling she reigns it in a bit for his sake.

MissAdventure Thu 09-Jan-25 23:18:30

Ah, I haven't ever seen Gavin and Stacey.

Michael, though, I'm sure she never ages.
She looked like that when I was a teen!

MissAdventure Thu 09-Jan-25 23:19:07

Michaela.
My phone's sexist.

FlitterMouse Thu 09-Jan-25 23:28:19

She doesn't seem to age much. My late DH was a big fan of hers when she was the her on Hit Man & Her with Pete Waterman about 35 years ago!

MissAdventure Thu 09-Jan-25 23:44:28

I remember that!
I think me and my daughter used to watch it, or maybe it was a friend I saw it with... its all gone blurry, the midsts of times...

She would have been about 11 or 12 then?

I always think they have a good rapport, unlike Chris and Kate Humble.

He seems to tolerate Michaela as he might a younger sister 🙂

Oh, you mean Michaela Strachan not Joanna Page!
😁 Yes

Can I bring Andi Peters into the "people who have looked young for far too long" discussion?

Cossy Fri 10-Jan-25 09:43:42

I watched it, I loved her enthusiasm and clear love for animals, BUT, boy is she irritating in so many ways!

Anniebach Fri 10-Jan-25 09:57:34

She is being herself, no pretence,

Dempie55 Sun 12-Jan-25 11:36:24

Can’t bear this woman. She’s forever giggling like a 10 year old and chirping utter nonsense. Doesn’t seem to have grown up.

ixion Sun 12-Jan-25 11:46:30

I hadn't realised she was 'Just Judy' in 🎥 Love Actually (2003).

20 years on .... Clearly no change.

Knittypamela Sun 12-Jan-25 11:53:14

There are many presenters with this childish persona. I was watching the Travelling Auctioneers and the female auctioneer spoke like a six year old. Really irritating.

BlueBelle Sun 12-Jan-25 12:07:31

No idea who she is either MissA Andi Peters still looks great

vonnie49 Sun 12-Jan-25 12:36:56

Quite agree. Only managed one episode

HowVeryDareYou2 Sun 12-Jan-25 14:43:16

I've never seen Gavin &Stacey, so didn't know who Joanna Page was. I watched the animal programme because I like that kind of thing.

She was useless on it! Talking to the animals when specifically told not to, then dithering over picking up a hedgehog. What a silly woman. I switched off after half of the 1st episode.
