Bridget Jones - Mad About the Boy

I went to see this with my granddaughter and her Mum on Sunday. I didn't expect it to be a masterpiece - just a bit of fun. I enjoyed Bridget Jones's Diary but can't recall if I saw any of the sequels.

Mad about the Boy had received some good reviews and there was a great deal of hype about it so perhaps I should have been forewarned.

In my opinion, it was absolute rubbish. Renee Zellweger might have thought she was being sweet and charming but she was just really irritating - everything she did - from the way she walked to the silly little girl's voice drove me mad. The plot was ridiculous, and most of the characters over-acted. I was so glad when the film finished. My granddaughter and her Mum were bored too.

Has anyone else seen it?

I liked it much better than the book, I gave up with the book half way through. Glad I saw the film it was good and a fitting end to the saga.

I saw the film with sister in law and heavily pregnant niece. I was shocked at what Renee Z has done to her face! I found it a bit annoying and gave it a 6.

I loved the first Bridget Jones, but have never wanted to watch any sequel. To me, The End was The End.

As for the latest, I don’t mind admitting that I find the idea of Older Woman With Much Younger Man a bit icky.

RZ seemed to be unable to open her eyes fully, especially at the the beginning of the film. I paid a surprisingly high amount to watch it at home as a treat, would like a refund and the time spent on it back please! Found the whistle-happy teacher unconvincing and irritating and the final concert far too similar to those in About a Boy and Love Actually. It’s a no from me.
