Anyone want to share their vinyl collection?

Elton John is hands down one of the best! He’s such a diva though. I’m not fond of his behavior. He recently did an album with Brandy Carlisle (wonderful artist) and there were so many stories about his temper and breaking iPads, etc. Anyhow, keep that 1928 safe!

I gave them all to my youngest son.

A lot of my 45s went to the First Blue Peter Bring and Buy Sale in the 1970s. We were moving house and needed to get rid of a lot of 'unnecessary stuff'.

I did sit on a pile of my brother's 78s when I was a child 😯

A bit off topic but does anyone else miss the twelve inch square LP covers? Many of them were destined to become iconic works of art.

I feel really sad that I made DH sell some of our vinyl. We don’t have a record player but it still feels a loss.

Yes, some of those were lovely.

Sadly, I don’t suppose it’s of much interest here if I name my first vinyl, because all my records were classical. My first ones were the ballet music from La Fille Mal Gardée, and Highlights from Peter Grimes by Benjamin Britten. I had recently seen performances of both these in London.

Same here Grandma. My first LP was Mozart operatic overtures. I also bought Petrushka, The Planets and as many as I could afford with my pocket money.

My first vinyl was West Side Story but we have a wide range of albums including the Wombles, Bob Marley and loads of Motown.

I have lots of classical music, but also a few Beatles, Elaine Paige, Carpenters, Seekers, New Seekers etc.

Al Stewart is touring the UK later this year. I’m tempted to get a ticket to see him.

I bought some special picture frames that were designed to put LP’s in them because I think they’re works of art. But, annoyingly I could put the sleeve in but not with the LP inside so I never used them.

We have lots of those on the wall of our 'playroom' - minus the vinyl.

I’ve always wanted the Pink Floyd album that has a picture of them on the cover. I’ve only got A Saucerful of Secrets (the first album I ever bought) and Atom Heart Mother ( a gem of an LP that is largely ignored).

Although I bought mainly classical LPs, I did buy 'A Picture of You' by Joe Brown and the Bruvvers and Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band which, of course, had an iconic cover designed by Jann Haworth and Peter Blake.
