What series are you currently watching, or what are some of your favorites? I recently watched What If on Netflix, as well as Anatomy of a Scandal. I enjoyed both, but I love the evil character that Renee Zellweger plays on what if. I heard a second season may be in the works.

I did enjoy Zero Day, we watched it last week. A few slightly unbelievable moments but I think that's true of many series.

I recommend two seies we are currently watching - Resident Alien on Netflix, dark comedy drama, brilliant, about an alien who crash-lands in Oregon and takes over a human doctor in a small town, highly recommended; and For All Mankind on Apple, set in the time of the 60's race to the moon, very clever mixing actual film footage within the episodes. Each series is a different decade, going further into space. Very watchable. Apple has some great stuff, especially the clever and brilliant Slow Horses. Anyone who loved West Wing, try also Kiefer Sutherland in Designated Survivor (Netflix), another White House story. Really enjoyed the recent ITV series of Unforgotten, now waiting for this year's new episodes of Stranger Things, Bosch Legacy, and Grace. Robert De Niro's Zero Day is next on the watch list!

Watching rerun of The West Wing on C4...brilliant writing and a fabulous cast. That's me sorted for several weeks!

The Newsroom is by the same writer and is very good, it stars Jeff Daniels, Emily Mortimer and Dev Patel.

Oh yes, I forgot about The Newsroom, I was really sorry when that ended. One of the best.

I used to enjoy Judge John Deed too. From what I remember it had a rather indecisive ending and I always expected it to start another series. Martin Shaw is always great, I loved Inspector George Gently too.
I also like PD James series, though they seem to have made some of them twice now which is really irritating as I don't always realise until I've watched a few minutes

I think that this is one of my favourite ever TV series, I've already watched a re-run. Nothing else has ever gripped me to much.

I don't know if this is available in your country but I'm enjoying the show "Matlock" with Kathy Bates.

Yes, we have Matlock. It started back in the 80’s with Andy Griffith. It ran for 9 seasons. I haven’t checked out this new one.

I'm currently watching "The Good Fight" on U. It stars the excellent Christine Baranski, who was in the series "The Good Wife" which I previously enjoyed. Both series are excellent in my opnion - real quality like "The West Wing", and the clothes and settings are great!

I think possibly my favourite series was “Last Kingdom”. It’s currently on Netflix. Historical fiction based on a series of books by Bernard Cornwell. The tv series was every bit as good as the books. There’s a lot of violence in it but then there is in Yellowstone!

grannybuy Mon 03-Mar-25 14:51:54

I loved Homeland.

I’m watching This is Us and Nashville at the moment. Bump, on BBC iPlayer is very good ( an Australian series ).

Yellowstone

If you like Yellowstone, try 1923. Its about the earlier days of the same family with Helen Mirren and Kevin Costner I like it even better than Yellowstone

SaxonGrace Mon 03-Mar-25 14:31:31

Yellowstone, plus the prequels 1883 and 1923, Landman, am at. Present binging my way through iplayers series The one that got away.

Just tried to watch Series 3 of White Lotus. I watched first episode, absolutely dire. No interesting characters. I miss Jennifer Coolidge, she was a reason to watch. Series 1 and 2 were fun (a bit dark in places), Series 3 is a turn off, not sure I’ll bother with episode 2 +. Unless someone tells me it gets better?

I loved Cormoron Strike ,the private investigator I hope they make another series.

We binge watched all the strike series over the course of a couple of weeks, like you we’re hoping they make more episodes.

Two excellent ones from the past would be West Wing and Judge John Deed.

SillyNanny321 Mon 03-Mar-25 13:51:37

I really like The Chelsea Detective on Drama. Shakespeare and Hathaway is fun and I like Father Brown.

I went to school with Mark Williams and was probably in the same hospital when we were born as we were born a few days apart. He loved drama when we were at school.

Not all Netflix, Prime and Disney etc. are the same in US either. They often have different things that UK can't get. I cancelled my Netflix having not found anything I wanted to watch for ages. I still have Prime & Disney and I am a Sky subscriber, at least for now.

Running point on Netflix

I've enjoyed "Slow Horses" on Apple TV & have started "Derry Girls" on Netflix as I didn't watch it when it was on Channel 4 originally, it has made me laugh out loud in parts which doesn't happen very often. I can also watch Lucy Worsley's programmes many times and always enjoy them.

The only soap opera I tune into is:

Emanet (Turkish) which means Legacy in English, is a Turkish soap opera translated into Spanish on NOVA T.V. Monday through Friday.

'This is Us' is amazing. Really interesting premise. I was addicted to it a few years ago and am rewatching it again now.
Very recommended.
