I thought that has well.
Banning long standing gransnet members
Thought I’d start a new thread as the other one is full. Nothing to say really at the moment because I said it at the end of the last thread. Hopefully we can carry on with our Corrie moans!
I thought that has well.
I only caught up with the episode last night.
I’m not worried about mardy little Betsy, am sure her arm will soon be back to normal, enabling her to be back at the factory, mooching about and doing very little.
If I were Carla, I would be glad of an excuse to leave that family.
Is Lisa her biological mother, or was it the other one who died? Lisa often talks about ‘Betsy’s mum’, as though she herself is an afterthought.
Am tiring of the Julie saga. Pinching the flowers seemed daft, and having cancer was no excuse.
The Rob storyline has been so silly from beginning to end and still not reached a conclusion with Rob unbelievably still alive.
I wonder what will happen to Rob’s pregnant prison officer girlfriend. She’ll maybe turn up in Dev’s shop in a few months time buying nappies and Carla will invite her to move in to her flat.
I do have a soft spot for young Betsy, her real mum was the one that was killed the ones I can’t abide are Carla with her whining down her nose voice and Lisa, in her old fashioned looking pullovers
The police don’t give anyone confidence do they ? There’s useless Craigy pottering around doing nothing, I can tolerate Kit as he’s so easy on the eye and I m so fickle and then there’s the head of the crew, who would look better behind a counter selling bras or pullovers ohhh dear, and a pregnant (to a murderer) corrupt prison officer What a shower
I really don’t look forward to Corrie any more I watch, probably because there’s nothing else on, but no great expectations or excitement any more It’s just all too silly too poorly written and I feel lost
I agree BlueBelle. I don’t look forward to it like I used to and feel like I’m watching it out of habit these days. I missed an episode this week as I had visitors and almost didn’t bother catching up later.
I watch Corrie and Emmerdale and it seems like they are competing with each other with ridiculously unbelievable storylines. Emmerdale is currently ahead on that one. In their kidney transplant story they’ve resorted to stealing the unsuspecting donor’s kidney 😆
I was away for two weeks so avoided this thread as I had so many episodes to catch up with. I think I've seen them all now. Phew.
Ah well, another episode tonight. Can’t wait. Perhaps Rob and Carla will both succumb to botulism after eating the out of date alphabetti spaghetti and Lisa will do her own version of death by cop by scoffing the whole best-before-2001 tin of marrowfat peas. We can but hope.
None of the above any dafter than some recent storylines, I’m sure regular viewers will agree.
I have watched Corrie since the start in 1960, but it is only in the last few months that I have been fast-forwarding bits, and that’s getting more and more frequent. There was a time when I was glued to it, looked forward to it, was devastated to miss it, but now, not at all, and I often find parts of it so boring that I do skip them. The characters are getting more and more unsavoury too. Thinking of Mick, Lou, and Rob, just to name a few.
Those who aren’t unsavoury are a bit pathetic - Julie, Mary, Lisa, Dylan, Sean, Daisy, (glad she’s leaving, in spite of the fact I thought she was great originally. Her character has been tweaked out of all recognition),
I blame the new producer, Kate somebody, for a lot of this. I read that she was looking forward to giving Corrie a new and modern look. Well, as far as I’m concerned, she has failed to do anything other than ruin it! Elsie and all the original stars must be whizzing about in their graves since she was hired.
I only watch now out of loyalty and habit!
Who on earth would be having sex in the neighbour’s bed when they were just waiting in for a parcel?
Oh, Steve McDonald of course. Plus ghastly Cassie.
Hope Sally finds out. She will need to fumigate the bed.
The stories in Corrie and Emmerdale are now so similar, for instance both have a kidney transplant story going on at the moment I think they are the same writers, and so devoid of ideas!
As understandably some people are very upset if they read any hint or discussion of a forthcoming event would it be better to have two threads one to chew over anything we ve read about the future of the programme, then those who haven’t yet watched an episode can stay well clear of it !
Just an idea don’t shoot me
No one seems to have commented on your idea for two threads BlueBelle so I will.
No, I think we need to just have the one. Two will end up confusing, but I appreciate it can be difficult, some not wanting any hint of future happenings and others who have seen forthcoming story lines and exits weeks ahead.
I find it hard to avoid upcoming ‘leaks’ about characters and plots though.
Ok I understand Calandergirl and see what you mean it’s just that I always feel on tenterhooks on here thinking was that what I read or was that what I saw.
I see so many things just in passing I don’t go looking for them I don’t know how others miss them, I don’t take any newspapers, but ‘so and so s leaving’ or ‘x number leaving in next few months including so and so’ seem to pop up everywhere
I certainly don’t do it on purpose
The main spoilers are that someone is leaving, which is rarely discussed on the show before it happens. Usually there is an explosion or sinkhole/plane crash/whatever, or an argument that causes a character to get in a taxi and never return.
Just as people say they don’t understand how I (and others) aren’t aware of what’s going to happen, I don’t understand how anyone can find out without looking. I genuinely don’t know in the majority of cases, and I don’t live in a cave.
A very long-standing character such as Gail leaving is different as that counted as news. When Ken goes it will be the same. Or Rita. But I didn’t know Daisy was going, and now that knowledge will feed into how I watch her scenes until it happens, as it did with Max, which was discussed on here before the fire, and took way any enjoyment of the story. We didn’t know how it would play out, but knowing he was leaving meant we had an idea of what the outcome would be, however it was arrived at.
Part of the pleasure of soaps is speculating, which is why they sometimes film two or more story endings, and actors are not allowed to give away plots. That is ruined when we know in advance that someone dies, or is going to leave, even if we don’t know how or when - it limits the possibilities for the stories (daft as they often are
).
Threads on other forums manage not to spoil plots. I don’t see why it’s so difficult to avoid - if something hasn’t happened yet on screen it is something that has been read or heard, and will spoil the experience for everyone who hasn’t read or heard the same thing. If people really can’t tell the difference, two threads would never work anyway, as they wouldn’t know which one to use for what
). The idea of banishing people to a separate thread for not wanting spoilers is making me feel uncomfortable. I guess if enough posters prefer spoiling the stories we will drift off anyway. I don’t post as often as I used to already, because of spoilers, so it will ultimately come down to natural selection.
Another option is for people to put SPOILER at the top of posts that give away plots, usually with a few blank lines after so anyone not wanting to see the rest of the post can look away. Maybe that would work.
Digressing, but another annoyance for me (not related to Corrie) is how often now people binge watch new series, then write about it, completely spoiling it for viewers like me who prefer to watch week by week.
The times I see, “Yes, I’ve now watched all six episodes back to back last night, was shocked when Fred turned out to be the killer”.
Ruined for me who has just seen episode one.
Well that’s gone a bit OTT who ever mentioned banishing people I was simply thinking of ways that could make it more comfortable but obviously that wasn’t the right idea 🤣🤣 Never mind I ll just bash on being more careful in future not to mention anything that is out there ! 🤐
Calandargirl I agree with that one totally I prefer to wait and watch a drama week by week something to look forward too My daughter always watches straight through but she NEVER tells me anything until I ve watched it all but I have see it on here sometimes just a heavy hint
Same here Calendargirl I can't get catch up so rely on weekly episodes. It would be a good idea if posters put ' spoiler alert' at the beginning of their post where appropriate.
If there are many people leaving, I may have to remove some of the horrors from the minibus to fill the void. With luck, some will be on the leaving list, so my one-way trip will help.
I am watching a police series, and amazingly, nobody has mentioned who the corrupt police officer (s) are.
I always binge watch when possible, but it's very easy not to spoil a series for others. 🤐
Poor DeeDee got all the unsympathetic/ rushed off their feet/ unpleasant nurses. Unfortunately healthcare can be like that at times. Hope she’s ok.
Oh, am sure Dee Dee will be ok.
Just like Betsy the brat.
How many times have we seen her sounding off at her mother, only to apologise the next day and promise not to act like a little kid?
Well, until the next time.
Hope Evelyn and her daft beret swan off back to uni soon, very irritating. Why on earth should she want Roy to serve her, instead of Bernie, with a blessed tea cake and cup of tea?
Entitled or what!
Will DeeDee be ok though ???
Oh, I don’t think Dee Dee will die.
Though the Bailey clan should have been sacked for their dreadful acting around the birth.
Ed, looking even more gormless than usual, saying should she have an epidural?
Michael “ Get hot towels and hot water! Well, that’s what they do in the movies!”
James, the prospective adoptive father, just hovering about and demanding a doctor.
Where was Nurse Aggie when her daughter needed her?
Never mentioned.
Thought Ronnie would have been on the scene also, but no, he was too busy with Debbie and Mick.
I’m surprised that Nurse Aggie didn’t return months ago with a new head. It’s strange for her to be completely forgotten about and never mentioned.
Having said that she would have been unbearable around the hospital interfering in medical discussions involving baby Frankie and then taking over the labour suite to deliver DeeDee’s baby.
