Thought I’d start a new thread as the other one is full. Nothing to say really at the moment because I said it at the end of the last thread. Hopefully we can carry on with our Corrie moans!

Aveline

George and Bernie?- just a thought

That thought crossed my mind, too.

BlueBelle Tue 10-Jun-25 05:44:25

Theo and Milly are both dreadful, neither can act for toffee and Milly looks at least 25 years old where on earth do they get these ‘actors’ from ? Milly's face has no expression she’s blank, surely they can find better.
The cafe scene was terrible and to be honest the whole of last nights programme was very underwhelming
I m not really enjoying Corrie now it’s just a habit

Aveline Tue 10-Jun-25 06:29:20

I disagree. The actors are acting the roles they are given. They're just not very likeable characters.

Calendargirl Tue 10-Jun-25 06:58:28

George and Bernie? Oh pleeeese no!!!

Lou, supposedly so hard up, can still sit in the cafe with her cuppa, never seems to think of having a ‘brew’ at home to save a few pence.

I assume the ‘girls’ are at school, alongside all the other phantom children.

Does Theo have anything else to wear, apart from his Daz white tee shirts?

Todd should have shown a bit of backbone and ordered Theo and dreadful daughter out of the house, instead of grovelling and being so apologetic. And demanded the money for the pregnancy test kit.

And why such drama if she is pregnant? Corrie sees plenty of termination stories, thinking of Dee Dee, Fiz, Daisy….

Another one won’t be much different.

Avaline i have to disagree I don’t think they are disagreeable people but they couldn’t act their way out of a paper bag in my opinion
Look at little Dorin oozing personality out of his little self then look at cardboard faced Millie she should be playing a frightened, confused young teen but she’s more wooden than Liam and Jack put together
Brodie a very unlikeable character is playing the part well as did Mason ….Dylan also is pretty good I personally don’t have a problem with Betsy I think she plays a mixed up teen well and she has people disliking her which surely shows some good acting but Millie, oh dear, dead pan would be a compliment

Good post. I would agree with all that. I hope Kirk brings Beth back from Craig's funeral with him. He is lost without her. They were an amusing couple together. We could do with some laughs in Corrie again.

Overacting is so noticeable and irritating (eg Mary). It's much harder to just 'be' or appear to be rather than trying too hard. Millie isn't a pretty girl which is fair enough and entirely appropriate.

Calendargirl Tue 10-Jun-25 10:02:42

It’s nothing to do with Millie ‘being pretty’ though.

I think BlueBelle’s description of her ‘cardboard’ acting/persona was accurate.

Aveline Tue 10-Jun-25 11:47:56

But some people are like that! Corrie is supposed to reflect life and typical people. Obviously they have to include dramatic storylines which can be daft.
I'd be feeling pretty frozen faced if I was a pregnant teenager whose Dad had turned gay and run off with an undertaker!

sodapop Tue 10-Jun-25 12:35:47

I agree with BlueBelle's critique, please let them get rid of Theo and his dreadful vest.

Calendargirl Tue 10-Jun-25 12:38:30

We just need Danielle to be pregnant after her romp with Jason to really put the cat amongst the pigeons!

grannyrebel7 Tue 10-Jun-25 13:08:35

After watching Corrie for over 50 years I gave up about three months ago. It is just so depressing with knife crime stories and gangsters. I don't want to know about that stuff. I only watch Netflix now. Chesapeake Shores, Sweet Magnolias, Virgin River and Parenthood. So much more wholesome and entertaining.

Aveline Tue 10-Jun-25 13:24:26

I've watched all of those too grannyrebel7 but found them just too sickly sweet. Sometimes life is grittier.

You and me both! I’ve watched since the very start and feel a stupid loyalty to it. But even I am beginning to get bored now and fast-forward most of it, just getting the gist to keep myself up to date.
Spoiler alert - I couldn’t believe it when Millie announced she was pregnant!! THAT old chestnut! If the writers can’t do better than that, they should give up.

Aveline Tue 10-Jun-25 15:59:25

It's life though. Hatches, matches and despatches! There's only so much that can happen. We've had murders, fires, bombs, racism, abuse, knife crime, fraud, gang culture, online fraud, serious illness, suicide etc etc etc. Mind you, we complain about all of them! Corrie writers must despair.

Devorgilla Tue 10-Jun-25 16:41:36

If Millie moves in I hope George moves out. He needs a new storyline. What about a really lovely widow turning up at the Undertakers to thank him yet again for giving her husband a great send-off - maybe a few years ago? And romance blossoms, much to Mary's disapproval.

Cabowich Wed 11-Jun-25 16:31:17

Ooh, I've (almost) read a spoiler about who the father of Brodie is. I didn't go on to read the full article because I don't want to know myself yet, but apparently it's a "big shock".

Aveline Wed 11-Jun-25 19:34:09

Not Sean?!!!!

Devorgilla Wed 11-Jun-25 19:37:31

Aveline, you have a vivid imagination. Now that would be fun - Dylan and Brodie - a formidable duo.

Calendargirl Thu 12-Jun-25 07:22:37

And now Sally and Tim are going to foster…who, I wonder?

Are there two sisters locally who might need looking after, seeing as dad is in prison and mum is either in the cafe, pub or mouthing off whilst at ‘work’?

Is Sally giving up the factory to foster, or have I missed that?

(Fostering is obviously the latest worthy cause to come to Corrie, I’m not knocking it, but Roy and Hayley fostered many years ago of course).

Devorgilla Fri 13-Jun-25 21:05:48

When did Nick get the new hair colour? I think it ages him.
Oh dear. are we about to have another 'love triangle' storyline? Hope Maria ditches him. Did anyone else think there was a vibe between Tod and James the other night?

Calendargirl Fri 13-Jun-25 21:21:01

Does no one wonder why Lou was looking in Shona’s bag in the first place?

And the casual way the salon’s takings are handled beggars belief! Just stuffed in a paper bag, no one can be bothered to bank it, no idea how much cash is there…..

As for the way she expects others to mind the ‘girls’.

Neither of them ate much of Sally’s nutritious looking meal, Expect they were full up of chocolate.

Calendargirl Fri 13-Jun-25 21:21:36

Can’t say I noticed Nick’s hair colour, will check it out next time.

Charleygirl5 Fri 13-Jun-25 21:29:19

I was very sure that Lou had eyes on Shona's bag and the money.

Her children will not have a change of clothes if they are having a sleepover.

Devorgilla Fri 13-Jun-25 21:45:12

Yes, poor Maria, obviously the villain of the piece. There is definitely more to Lou than meets the eye. Too obvious to take the money today, but tomorrow is another opportunity. Ok, she may be desperate, but has no-one on Corrie heard there is help out there. Sally will martyr herself and wash and dry the clothes ready for tomorrow.
