Thought I’d start a new thread as the other one is full. Nothing to say really at the moment because I said it at the end of the last thread. Hopefully we can carry on with our Corrie moans!

Reminder: Corrie is only being shown next Thursday and Friday due to "rescheduling arrangements". I imagine it is more football.

Yes, Women's Euros 2025.

Sarnia Tue 01-Jul-25 12:45:51

Corrie may be on to something here. Controlling and coercive men and their treatment towards women is frequently in the news so to point out that this behaviour can also exist in same sex relationships may be a clever stroke by the Corrie scriptwriters and bring it to public attention that men can also suffer at the hands of their male partner. It may make a plausible storyline. Far more so than gangsters around every corner. It's just a shame that Woodentop Theo will be heavily involved as he can't act for toffee. Hopefully, James will come to rescue our lovely Todd.

Where is Ken at the moment? He never seems to be in his own house, although the world and his wife are.

That infuriates me!!

It infuriates me, too, Crossstitchfan.

Makes me laugh, though, as we spend so much time moaning about the dire state of Corrie, yet get really grumpy when football takes over grin.

We certainly saw another side to Theo last night! I never liked his character, but he is stooping very low now. As for the dreadful Millie -whoever hired her really should have made sure she can act because she most certainly can’t! In fact, she is one of the worst ‘actors’ on Corrie now. Theo is a bad actor too, he qis wooden, expressionless and oh, so, boring! Still, if you pay peanuts, you get monkeys and I believe the actors’ pay has been cut back.
Where are all the feisty Corrie characters now? Most of this lot are as pathetic as can be. Dee Dee is dreadful - I have seen far better acting in a school play.
I have been saying for months that the writers should be changed. They couldn’t write a coherent letter, I wouldn’t think.
Corrie seems to be full of wimps now. I can’t see it lasting much longer and that would be such a shame. Perhaps Evelyn might be its saving grace, but that’s a big ask, even for an actor of her calibre.
Silk purse and sow’s ear spring to mind!

I get grumpy when footie takes over, even if I don’t watch the programme it’s replacing! Why can’t there be a dedicated sport channel? Leave Corrie alone, I say!!

Interesting storylines though. I liked the way the youngsters were portrayed taking that drug and how frightened and disoriented it made them feel. Plus the effect on poor sensible Ahdi.
DeeDee can leave tomorrow. Did anyone else see the bones of her corset the other night? Her silly little girl voice and sudden devotion to religion are just irritating.

Calendargirl Wed 02-Jul-25 15:03:48

To be fair to Dee Dee, I think she has always spoken of her faith, not a ‘sudden devotion’.

That was the main reason she refrained from sex with Joel, wanted to wait until they were married.

How quaint that seems nowadays!

Aveline Wed 02-Jul-25 15:42:30

That only occurred after her pregnancy though. Never mentioned before, never at church etc etc. Suddenly she's at a church women's group. Pah! Ludicrous character. Time to get rid of her.

Sarnia Wed 02-Jul-25 16:02:55

I suppose the shots we are seeing of a comatose Gary links with Nina's insistence that she attacked someone when she was under the effects of the drug she took at the party.
I thought Lou might have had him handcuffed to the bed.

abi actress has had so much lip enhancement she can't close her mouth!

Bukkie Wed 02-Jul-25 22:52:25

Maureen Lipman is an actress not an actor and she insists on this title herself. Woman are actresses and men are actors. More nonsense from the PC brigade to call everyone actors.

Grannynannywanny Wed 02-Jul-25 23:55:48

They could rename the programme Secrets and Lies. Millie lying about her pregnancy, Kevin now lying about his cancer, DeeDee lying about plans for Laila’s christening, the young ones lying about their involvement in the drugs etc.

The overacting doctor suddenly decided they should contact Gary’s next of kin. Does that mean they’ve had access to his phone from the start and despite him lying unconscious in ICU on a ventilator nobody noticed he hasn’t had a visitor? 🤷‍♀️

I agree and I would normally call a female an actress, but I was trying to be pc as I have been chastised before for similar! I hate this pc rubbish! I actually did write ‘actress’ first, then changed it!
We’ll soon be too scared to open our mouths!

Bukkie Thu 03-Jul-25 09:06:09

Crossstuchfan -it's awful isn't that now we can't speak common sense owing to fear of offending the tiny PC minority? I remember reading the newspaper article about Maureen Lipman saying she is an actress and couldn't stand being called an actor. I cheered as I read it. It's like the other topic on here where a wokey minority are saying there's nothing wrong with having a black actress playing Anne Boleyn. Yes there is, it's factually wrong.

You and I are firmly on the same page. I always have and always will call females, actresses and hate it when woke overturns historical fact.
I lose no sleep over upsetting the woke snowflakes.

Why are we 'afraid' of offending? Your opinions, choices and views are as valid as anyone else's, and if you refer to someone an actress, anyone questioning can be told they are bullying and oppressive and will be reported for aggressive language. Shouting and pointing is a most effective weapon, and works both ways. Sane people should continue to use sensible and familiar language, and refuse to be intimidated by the weird woke, whose agenda most struggle to comprehend.

I hadn’t heard that, but it is so wrong! As my grandmother used to say, many years ago, ‘the world has gone to hell in a handcart’! I never knew exactly what she meant, but never forgot it!
It did make me realise though that this chaos has been going on for a very long time!

I agree that the Gary situation just doesn’t add up. If they’re going to contact his next of kin now they must have his ICE details. Surely if he’s been found in that state, contacting them would be the first thing the emergency services would do once they got him to hospital?

Also, maybe it’s just me, but I’m getting a little bit distracted now by the number of extras wandering up and down the street, in and out of the businesses. All of a sudden Coronation Street seems to have become a busy thoroughfare. Perhaps the pavements have been dug up in Rosamund Street?

Yay! I knew Nana must have got it from somewhere and couldn’t be the only one using it! I think it’s a great comment!

Charleygirl5 Thu 03-Jul-25 16:05:19

I also noticed the number of extras around, but they will be cheaper than having, eg Sally, Tim or Maria walking up the street.

Gary would have been taken to A&E for assessment, and they would have searched for a phone or whatever to find his next of kin. If no joy, the police would have been informed. At the very least, the police should have "unknown male, mid-thirties or whatever, injured and in X hospital.

He has been in ICU for a couple of days, and no way that zilch would have been done to find a relative—insufficient research by the scriptwriters.

Sarnia Thu 03-Jul-25 18:31:33

I think we may find that Lou is down as his next of kin. She knows a lot more than she is letting on. I wouldn't mind betting that when her phone went it was the hospital letting her know about Gary.
Maria is only small but I wouldn't fancy being in Lou's shoes when she find out.
